Chapter 101 - Chapter 478: “9V9”

Late at night, Axel returned to the small courtyard prepared by the Wang family.

On the first day of arriving in the Three Kingdoms era, Axel's impression of this place was pretty good.

The people and the Pokémon here were all rather kind.

Even that Overlord Trevenant that Wang the registrar had described as extremely terrifying was the same.

After Ho-Oh's friendly interaction, the Overlord Trevenant repeatedly promised that tomorrow only half of the participants from Cao's army's camp would be allowed to come over.

Axel felt that if he worked a bit harder and had his Pokémon intercept them, he should be able to finish the battle before the match even started.

The time saved should let him spar with Diao Chan a few more times.

After settling his Pokémon, Axel didn't hurry to sleep.

Right now in the dream world he had already cleared Team Star and half of the gyms, and was stuck on the Titan Pokémon at Casseroya Lake.

It wasn't that he couldn't beat it. The main issue was that he couldn't find it.

In Scarlet and Violet there were a total of five Titans, whose role in the game was mainly to unlock the mount abilities of the legendary ride Pokémon.

At the same time, they were also one of the main requirements for clearing the game.

Among them, the Titan at Casseroya Lake was a Tatsugiri and a Dondozo. These Pokémon were very unusual.

Dondozo was a Pokémon with a large body, formidable power, but not a good brain.

And it wasn't fast either, so it often went hungry.

Tatsugiri was fast, clever, but weak in battle.

These two Pokémon generally pair up to make a living together.

Even though Dondozo wasn't smart, it was obedient.

And Tatsugiri had high intelligence, so it wasn't easy to locate.

In other words, Axel wasn't in any rush to handle it in a single night.

Finally making it to the Three Kingdoms era, he had Wang the registrar find some books for him, planning to see if the Pokémon and resources of this era could give him some new insight.

And after taking a look, he really did find something significant.

In this era, perhaps due to insufficient development of Pokémon power, many Abilities and moves hadn't been developed.

Even the concepts of Fairy, Steel, and Dark as types were not obvious in this era.

Because of this, many resources were ignored by the people of the time.

Various power systems also hadn't appeared yet.

Although these things weren't of much use to Gardevoir, it didn't mean they were useless to Axel's other Pokémon.

If Rayquaza wanted to Mega Evolve, the most important thing was learning the move Dragon Ascent.

And the method of understanding Dragon Ascent was to absorb a large amount of Mega Stones, something almost impossible in later generations.

In Pokémon Adventures, it was also only when a small asteroid appeared and the world was on the brink of destruction, with nearly every faction thinking about how to save it, that enough Mega Stones were gathered for Rayquaza to evolve and save the world.

Axel wondered whether, if he went to ancient Kalos now, he might be able to gather enough Mega Stones.

But that was something for later. Right now, Gardevoir's new training method was right before him, so Axel definitely wouldn't waste time chasing an uncertain idea.

If he were to go, it would be only after obtaining the White Gardevoir trait.

Thinking like this, Axel gradually drifted into sleep.

———

Early the next morning, Pidgey's pleasant chirping rang out. Sunlight poured down, making everything feel especially peaceful.

Axel glanced at the time on the Rotom, and was about to go back to sleep when Gyarados suddenly let out a dragon roar, jolting him fully awake.

"Your sister."

Axel casually threw Dragonair's Poké Ball at Gyarados, rubbed his messy bed hair, pulled Gardevoir out and set her beside him, then wobbled out of the room.

After stepping out, Gyarados and Dragonair were already brawling.

Archaludon was holding Little Gible tightly, not letting him pick up the scales falling from the two of them, afraid the little guy would get hurt by accident.

Axel gave a quick look. In the past few days Little Gible had been with him, its level hadn't grown much, but its potential had already recovered to Elite-tier.

Once its potential fully recovered, its level should experience an explosive growth spurt.

Nihilego, as always, was quietly standing guard with barely any presence. Axel told Pheromosa to take her to rest for a bit, then began cooking for the Pokémon.

———

Half an hour passed, and rich fragrance filled the small courtyard.

Axel was calling the Pokémon over to eat when a familiar voice came from outside.

"Master Axel, the competitors have all gathered."

"Lady Diao Chan said you should rest more, so I brought them here to meet you."

"We were afraid you hadn't eaten, so we brought meat buns!"

Axel: "???"

"Wait, why did these people come into my courtyard?"

"Nihilego's defensive setup haven't even been removed yet!"

He hurriedly got up and pushed the room door open, planning to keep them outside.

But it was already too late.

The moment Axel stood up, he saw the registrar Wang had already pushed the door open. His smiling face had turned purple.

"Master Axel, why does your door feel a little numb when you touch it?"

"If I didn't know better, I'd think someone smeared... glug glug... on the door..."

Axel couldn't hear the rest, because Wang's mouth was already full of foam as he spoke.

Behind him, an armored soldier instinctively caught the collapsing registrar.

The next moment he looked up sharply, terror in his eyes.

"Crap, the registrar is poisoned.'

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Bodies hit the ground one after another.

Under Nihilego's Growth Poison trait, even though its toxins hadn't gone through any specific training, they had already reached a terrifying level.

Even Koga, who specialized in Poison types, would probably have to study Nihilego's toxins for months after obtaining them.

Now with these soldiers touching them directly, collapsing instantly was very normal.

But... Axel tugged at his hair hard, 'These guys are collapsing at the worst possible time.'

They were about to face Cao's army in competition.

Although Axel had intended to eliminate Cao's army early, he really hadn't meant to eliminate his own people.

According to standard story logic, a strong trainer had to have a bunch of underlings yelling "Awesome!" behind him.

But now he didn't have any underlings.

What made it worse was that Nihilego's growth path only had poison spreading, not antidotes.

After a helpless sigh, Axel tossed all the soldiers onto Gyarados, planning to bring them along for a one-against-nine.

Yesterday Axel had checked the rules. It was just a simple 9V9.

And Diao Chan hadn't said those nine people needed to be awake.

'Yes, definitely.'
