Chapter 84 - Chapter 461: Excited Dragonite

After finishing Dragonair's training, Axel said a simple goodbye to Caitlin.

He was planning to go back to the League to pick up his Pokémon, then hurry to the Alola region to deal with the Aether Foundation's Ultra Wormhole.

All of a sudden, Rotom rang.

On the projected screen appeared the chubby figure of Professor Oak, and his rather messy lab.

["Axel, are you busy lately? Can I take a look at your Gyarados?"]

"Professor Oak?", Axel blinked, a bit surprised.

He had just been thinking about when to call Professor Oak so Dragonite could see what Dragonair was like now.

He had not expected that before he even called, Professor Oak would call first.

"Not busy, not busy," Axel quickly waved his hand, "But what do you need Gyarados for?"

Axel felt it was a bit strange. Professor Oak had never really had any contact with Gyarados before, so why did he suddenly remember Gyarados now?

["It is actually nothing much,"] Professor Oak very skillfully took a step back, letting Muk, which had been about to tackle him, pounce on empty air.

He stepped right onto Muk, then continued speaking, ["It is just that I heard from Ash that a video has spread around your region, saying there is a gigantic Gyarados that has mastered the power of space."]

["I feel that besides you, it is hard for anyone else to pull off this sort of training that goes against common sense."]

["So I wanted to ask, how far can Gyarados go right now?"]

["And, is there any hope of applying this kind of power to your Gardevoir, and creating a Pokémon that can crush even a god?"]

["I think this idea is completely possible, because the Teleport that Gardevoir has mastered is a very rare move that can involve space."]

When he spoke about this topic, Professor Oak was clearly very excited.

He had known Blaine of Cinnabar Island since their youth, and they had also discussed whether it was possible by artificial training to create Pokémon that could rival gods.

Originally, Professor Oak's path had been to study the Pokémon closest to gods, pseudo-legendaries.

But later he discovered that although the base stats of pseudo-legendaries and gods were very close, there was still a huge gap between the two.

Divinity. Professor Oak had originally thought that no matter what, it was impossible for ordinary Pokémon to rival gods.

But right at that moment, the video of Gyarados spread.

Professor Oak knew very clearly that this might be something that could evolve into divine power.

Powering up Gardevoir?

After hearing Professor Oak's idea, Axel could not help having his eyes light up.

Although Gardevoir now had a Perfect-level tag, and had also gained the Fairy Queen form.

But just as Professor Oak was thinking, Gardevoir did not have divinity.

For her to reach this point today was almost entirely thanks to stat-crushing advantages, and those unreasonable Perfect-level tags.

If Professor Oak really managed to research something, maybe he really could let Gardevoir take another step forward, and truly become a top tier Pokémon in Axel's team.

As for whether Oak could actually do it, Axel felt it was fairly believable.

This was Oak, one of the most renowned professors in the Pokémon world.

Even his students already had people who had earned the title of professor.

Someone like that working for him for free, how could he possibly refuse?

"Professor Oak, don't worry. It just so happens we have an in-team match today, Dragonair versus Gyarados, you can have a good look then."

"ROAR?"

The moment Axel's words fell, a somewhat familiar roar suddenly came through.

Professor Oak's pupils widened all of a sudden, he tried to step back, but it was already too late.

BOOM!

A huge crashing sound rang out, and a hole instantly appeared in the wall behind Professor Oak.

Dragonite's body squeezed into the lab with ease, one foot planted on Professor Oak, its gaze fierce as it stared at Axel.

"ROAR!"

'I told you my daughter would suffer if she went there, and you did not believe me.'

'Hurry up and transfer me over, you old coot Oak!'

Axel: "..."

'Professor Oak's fate is really rough... in the anime he was constantly suffocated by Muk.'

In reality he had finally gotten a round of buffs, able to step on Muk, and now he was being stepped on by Dragonite again.

"Senior Dragonite, please do not be angry yet."

"Roar!", Dragonite bared its teeth hard, glaring viciously at Axel.

'You let my precious daughter fight Gyarados, why on earth should I not be angry?'

"Emmm..."

Seeing Dragonite look like it was about to crawl out through the Pokédex and come kill him, Axel felt he needed to let Dragonite see the results of his training.

"Dragonair, come over and show your dad the fruits of your training."

"roar!", Dragonair nodded in the sky not far away, imitating Eternatus's childish voice and letting out a cute roar.

Rotom automatically turned the camera around, bringing Dragonair and the sky near her all into frame.

Dragonite had just been about to ask whether his daughter had suffered these days, when he suddenly caught sight of the pure crystal at Dragonair's Outrage spot, and could not help focusing all of his attention on it.

A flash of dazzling light passed across that crystal, and thunderclouds instantly filled the whole sky.

At the same time, Dragonair's body lit up with a heap of mysterious blue patterns, and a dense water-element power immediately spread out around her.

Dragonite was stunned on the spot.

How had his daughter gone from a Dragon type to a Water type?

If she ran into Ice type Pokémon in the future, would she not beat them to tears?

"Senior Dragonite, do not blink, there are some other changes too."

As he spoke, Axel gave Dragonair a look, and Dragonair instantly understood.

In the next second, a fiery red "大" character suddenly began forming in her mouth.

Dragonite could not help pulling at the corner of his mouth. It was clearly raining, so why was she showing off a move with the opposite type?

No matter how strong her understanding of Fire type was, it would be hard to bring out the move's power in this kind of weather, right?

But in the next moment, Dragonite obediently shut his mouth, staring at the screen in front of him like he was dumbfounded.

He saw clearly that the instant Dragonair unleashed Fire Blast, the dark clouds in the sky suddenly scattered, and blazing sunlight pierced the air, instantly drying up the water on the ground.

A rainy day suddenly turned into a bright sunny day.

And at the very moment this sunny weather appeared, Dragonair's body changed again.

The blue markings on her body were replaced by fiery red markings, and at the same time, Dragonair's colorless Outrage scale turned scarlet.

She had become a Fire-type Pokémon.

And that still was not all.

In the time that followed, Dragonair also showed off Flying type under Hurricane, and Ice type under hail.

Every time Dragonair switched to a new type, Dragonite would let out an excited roar, hopping up and down on top of Professor Oak in excitement.

He had known it, leaving his daughter to Axel was absolutely the right decision.

By the time all the types had been cycled through, this first generation super fresh newbie, Professor Oak, was already on the verge of passing out.

Axel could not help sucking in a cold breath, "Senior Dragonite, how about you take Professor Oak to see a doctor first?"
