Chapter 74 - Chapter 451: The God’s Preferences

[Alliance Conference Room]

Watching Axel sitting next to Cynthia as if nothing had happened, all the Gym Leaders and Elite Four couldn't help feeling a little sore.

'Could you not be so low-key?'

'You literally just resolved a world-ending crisis, and yet you're sitting there all calm and casual. It makes the rest of us look useless, okay?'

Several Gym Leaders and Elites were now all somewhat melancholic. Some of them had even written their wills before setting out.

And in the end, some didn't even get the chance to release a single Pokemon, they just stood there watching Giovanni, Pryce, and Ash perform.

As for those who did release their Pokemon, they were completely ignored by Giratina.

Including Cynthia, everyone really wanted to ask Axel, 'Did you, by any chance, discover some kind of succubus-type power similar to the Viridian Force?'

'If you did, share a bit, would you?'

They weren't hoping to capture Legendary Pokemon like Axel, just that the gods wouldn't attack Sinnoh again in the future, that would be enough.

Axel, however, wasn't very interested in those things. He was still thinking about how to handle, or rather, train, Giratina.

Even now, he still hadn't figured out one thing.

That guy's skill set was utterly broken, yet he had never actually used it.

If he started teaching Giratina "strategies" now, what if Giratina really gained the power to rival Rayquaza in the Reverse World?

If that happened and the guy decided to run away, no one could ever stop him.

Maybe he should let Mewtwo train for a while first?

But before that, Giratina and Dialga had to spend some time together.

That was something he had already promised Giratina, so he had to keep his word.

He swore to Gardevoir, it absolutely wasn't because of the attributes Dialga carried.

"Axel..."

"Hm?", Hearing his name called, Axel snapped out of his thoughts instantly.

Like a student caught daydreaming in class, he quickly put on a serious face.

"I think Nana's right. Why don't we just do what she said?"

Everyone: "???"

'We haven't even said anything yet, what the hell?'

Lucian pushed up his glasses in pain, closed his book, and said seriously, "Indeed. We still need to keep Champion Cynthia as our main leader. Only that way can Sinnoh continue to develop properly."

"But before that, we should first understand those three gods, whether they have any demands or expectations for Sinnoh's future.

Do they, themselves, have any preferences?"

After going through two consecutive "end-of-the-world" incidents, Lucian now saw things very clearly.

Aside from a handful of individuals, no one stood a chance against gods.

Even Cynthia, Sinnoh's strongest, struggled immensely against the Time-Space Twin Dragons.

This time, Sinnoh's survival owed at least 80% of the credit to Axel.

Another 19% went to Cynthia and the missing Darkrai. The rest of them, despite their best efforts, served mainly as punching bags.

Under those circumstances, understanding the preferences of those three gods seemed extremely necessary.

They couldn't just pin all their hopes on Axel.

He might be powerful, but in terms of lifespan, he certainly couldn't outlive the Legendaries, right?

Lucian felt it was essential to think ahead about Sinnoh's future.

Judging from the way the Time-Space Twin Dragons had been acting at Cynthia's place these days, even gods cared about saving face.

In that case, as long as Sinnoh properly worshipped them, even if those dragons didn't actively protect Sinnoh, at least they wouldn't destroy it again, right?

"Preferences?", Axel paused for a moment, then quickly understood what Lucian was getting at.

Although Lucian's position was only that of an Elite Four member, the role he played was crucial. He was, without a doubt, Sinnoh's top strategist.

If he was asking this, it was surely for the sake of Sinnoh's future.

The problem was, all three of those guys had been beaten into submission by him.

As for hobbies? Those almost-world-ending monsters, did they even deserve to have hobbies?

A punch was good enough.

Dialga ate Giratina's punches, Giratina ate Mewtwo's and Rayquaza's punches.

As for Palkia, he could rest for now and wait to eat punches later when he forgot his lesson.

Of course, he couldn't say things like that aloud. It would sound way too much like humble-bragging.

So Axel simply stood up and pointed toward the Alliance living quarters.

"How about we go take a look at the Twin Dragons of Time and Space? You'll see for yourselves what they like."

Lucian's eyes lit up, "That would be excellent!"

———

[Cynthia's Villa]

Palkia sat on the big lounge chair prepared for Rayquaza by the staff, happily sipping a soda and watching Calabash Brothers.

Beside him, a little Gible hid in the bushes, its wide eyes fixed unblinkingly on Dialga, drool dripping from the corner of its mouth.

Dialga: "..."

Every time he saw that look in Gible's eyes, Dialga felt an ache in his heart.

'Damn Axel, he might as well have killed me outright!"

In just one day, Dialga felt he'd used up all the fear he'd ever experience in his life.

First came two unreasonable lunatics, brawling here like maniacs.

Just when Palkia finally managed to break up the fight, that little Gible set its sights on him.

Dialga couldn't use telepathy, but he'd lived long enough to be wise.

He could tell at a glance that this little Gible saw him as some kind of rare delicacy.

"Palkia, why don't you go tell Axel that if he's got the guts, he can just kill me already."

"I don't wanna be this prisoner for another minute!"

Dialga glared viciously at Palkia, on the verge of a breakdown.

'Why the hell is it that back when they almost restarted the world, Palkia got to sit there drinking soda, while I got treated like backup food?'

He figured it out now, Axel wouldn't actually dare to kill him.

Dialga knew his own position very well.

In this world, aside from Arceus and Giratina, and a few lunatics bent on destruction, no one else would dare to kill him.

Even that black Rayquaza wouldn't.

["Are you sure about that?",] Palkia blinked, suddenly standing up from the lounge chair, a flicker of fear flashing in his eyes.

["I'm sure!"], Seeing Palkia's reaction only made Dialga more certain of his theory.

Clearly, Palkia was panicking.

No doubt he was afraid that if Axel couldn't handle Dialga, he'd go back to using Palkia as a punching bag.

Noticing Dialga's smug expression, Palkia's lips twitched.

He looked at Dialga with a sudden touch of pity, ["Why don't you turn around and say that again?"]

["Turn around, my ass! I'm done taking this crap!"]

"Oh? So your wings are hard now?"

Suddenly, a familiar voice came from the doorway.

Dialga instinctively took a step back, clearly traumatized.

But soon, he regained his composure and glared defiantly at Axel.

["So what if they are? You wouldn't dare kill me anyway!"]

["You wanna protect Sinnoh, it's not like you can actually hurt me!"

Axel grinned, "Me, no. But he can."

"Giratina, stop hiding behind Rayquaza. Time to work."

"Everyone, watch closely, Giratina's about to show you what he likes!"
