Giratina looked down at Flint and the Gym Leaders with disdain, his expression as if he had already seen through all of their thoughts.
Facing their Thunderbolts, Flamethrowers, and other attacks, Giratina had only one reaction—
'Whatever!'
Even when an Infernape launched a blazing jet of fire like a flamethrower cannon, Giratina completely ignored it.
His body swiftly glided through space, using the power of Shadow Sneak to vanish into the air, quietly waiting for five minutes to pass.
"What's he doing?"
"He's hiding now, could he be planning something even more terrifying?"
Seeing Giratina react that way, the Gym Leaders didn't relax for a moment. Instead, they became even more cautious.
Maybe before, they'd still had delusions, thinking they were the strongest in Sinnoh.
But after seeing the two dragons of time and space appear, they had completely awakened.
That kind of power could destroy the world at a whim. Before divine beings like that, Gym Leaders and even Elites were nothing.
Only a Champion could barely stand against a god.
Flint and Volkner both frowned, trying to figure out why Giratina was acting this way.
Suddenly, a rift opened in the air.
A massive dragon head pushed its way through, and everyone instinctively looked up.
"Axel, Cynthia?", Flint, who had the sharpest eyes, couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement.
But right after, his heart sank.
"Oh no, guys, Giratina must be waiting to ambush Axel and Cynthia!"
As a member of the League Elite, he had spent far more time within the League than any Gym Leader.
And on Dialga and Palkia, he had seen firsthand how terrifying gods could be.
If it weren't for that red chain, even Axel might not have been able to suppress the two dragons of time and space.
More importantly, those were just the dragons of time and space.
According to Sinnoh's ancient texts, Giratina possessed power surpassing them both, the third god, more terrifying than the first two.
"Leader Axel, be careful! Giratina's lying in ambush for you!"
The moment Flint shouted this, Giratina, who was hidden in the Reverse World, ready to strike, gritted his teeth so hard it hurt.
'Damn it, what am I doing, digging up your ancestors' graves or something?'
'You're seriously going to rat me out?'
'Ambush?'
Axel couldn't help but laugh. This Giratina really was the god most fond of destruction in Sinnoh.
After being chased across half the region by Rayquaza, Mewtwo, and Gardevoir, he still had the nerve to try ambushing him.
"Gardevoir, Rayquaza, attack!"
["Understood!",] Both Gardevoir and Rayquaza nodded in sync, each gathering their most powerful moves.
Mewtwo's psychic power surged outward like a tidal wave, locking onto Giratina's hidden position.
Giratina's face twitched painfully.
He'd just spotted the Poké Balls on Axel's belt, ready to make his move, and then this Flint guy had to shout a warning.
If he'd known that, he would've attacked before Axel came out.
Uh… though he probably would've lost anyway.
Thinking that, Giratina fell silent again. He realized he no longer had a shred of confidence left.
No. He had to make Axel accept him.
What was there to fear? A black Rayquaza, a Gardevoir that looked suspiciously like Calyrex, and an unknown psychic god?
He didn't believe those three could actually kill him.
Even if he went down, he'd dive straight into Axel's Poké Ball first.
Determined to find a strong Trainer, Giratina's eyes gleamed sharply.
He'd start as the subordinate, and once he grew stronger, he'd settle every debt one by one.
Suddenly, Giratina's mind turned fuzzy. He looked down in confusion, Mewtwo's hands glowed with dark light.
At some point, Mewtwo had already locked onto him and unleashed Confuse Ray.
Immediately after, Rayquaza descended, its body wrapped in violet energy that formed a massive dragon-shaped aura mirroring itself, crashing from the sky.
Behind Rayquaza, a long spear made entirely of ice crystals followed, its shaft sparkling with pink fairy wings.
A flicker of panic crossed Giratina's determined gaze. He shook off the confusion and immediately tried to form a Protect barrier.
But his barrier couldn't even withstand Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent, it shattered like paper.
Giratina's pupils shrank. He realized he'd been far too confident.
With these three Pokémon present, there was no way he'd ever reach Axel.
———
"Phew! Finally made it in time, but this guy's got guts, I'll give him that. He can't win, and he still dares to ambush us."
Axel felt a headache coming on. He wasn't sure what to do with Giratina.
He could defeat him, but killing him might cause unpredictable consequences, since Giratina controlled the Reverse World. That'd hardly be worth the risk.
Capture him?
That was basically wishful thinking. A creature this proud wouldn't submit easily.
"Too bad I handed Cyrus over to Pryce… otherwise, I could've had him study a way to forge a chain to control Giratina."
["Master, you're thinking of capturing him?",] Gardevoir's amused voice sounded beside him.
["Funny thing is, he wants you to capture him. He's literally thinking about how to throw himself into your Poké Ball right now."]
When Gardevoir finished speaking, Axel blinked in surprise.
But soon he understood exactly what had happened.
After reappearing in the world, Giratina had suffered setback after setback. First getting gang-banged by his Rayquaza, Mewtwo, and Gardevoir.
Then he went to Lily of the Valley Island, only to be trounced by Giovanni and the others again.
So now, he probably thought the reason he couldn't beat anyone was because… he didn't have a Trainer?
What a bizarre misunderstanding.
Axel's lips curved slightly. He suddenly felt Sinnoh was turning out to be a lucky place for him.
The battle of the two dragons had already caused his Gyarados to absorb Palkia's power by chance, and now Giratina himself wanted to join him.
But joining his team wasn't so simple. He turned to Cynthia beside him.
"Has Giratina ever caused a major disaster?"
"What do you mean?", Cynthia blinked, not sure why Axel was asking that.
Axel repeated what Gardevoir had just said. Cynthia's mouth dropped open, so wide it could probably fit a tiny Axel.
"You're saying Giratina wants to follow you?"
Cynthia was utterly stunned. As a skilled archaeologist, she probably knew the Sinnoh legends of the three dragons better than anyone.
In her view, even though Axel was surrounded by divine-level Pokémon, there was no way he could capture any of the Sinnoh Trio.
The reason was simple: Dialga and Palkia each held vital cosmic authorities, and Giratina himself was violent and unstable.
If he could be reasoned with, he wouldn't have been banished to the Reverse World in the first place.
Who would've thought, after only a few days here, Axel would be targeted by the most brutal of the three?
Could it be… he had some kind of strange Pokémon succubus constitution?
