After deciding to help Axel handcraft a Regirock, Regigigas no longer hesitated.
He opened his massive hands and took the materials Axel had brought from the Gyarados floating in midair.
After seeing what they were made of, the corners of the King of the Regigigass' mouth twitched.
["You're sure you want to use this stuff to construct Regirock?"]
"Can't I?", Axel asked curiously.
Aside from what he'd seen from the system, he had never witnessed a Pokémon created out of thin air before, nor did he know how the King of the Regigigas went about handcrafting divine beasts.
["It's possible..."], Regigigas said, rubbing his head, ["but this material's too fragile. I'm afraid the Regirock you mold from it won't have good defense."]
Everyone knows that rocks differ in hardness and toughness.
The softest, talc rock, can be scratched by an ordinary person's hand, while the hardest, diamond rock, when combined with the treasure 'Hard Stone,' becomes almost indestructible.
In the past, when he created Regirocks, Regigigas always used diamond rock mixed with a few Hard Stones.
"You mean the strength of the Regirock you make actually depends on the materials?", Axel's eyes lit up.
He didn't understand the process of creating life, but he did have plenty of good stuff.
The flames of Ho-Oh, praised by the League as a treasure, were something he had an endless supply of.
He also had several feathers of Yveltal, symbols of destruction and immortality.
And there was the little tree formed from Xerneas, metallic shavings from Dialga, scales from Palkia, and pieces from Rayquaza's.
Forget it, he wouldn't pluck anything from Rayquaza or Mewtwo. Axel felt he still had some conscience left.
Aside from the little Ho-Oh whose fire could be produced endlessly, he wouldn't count the other divine beasts in his team for now.
["Of course it's related,"] Regigigas rumbled in his deep voice, ["The better the material, the stronger and more perfect a Regirock I can make with the same amount of power."]
"That makes things easy then," Axel turned and took off his backpack, rummaging through it.
After a short while, he pulled out a small piece of metal.
The corners of Regigigas's mouth twitched again as he instinctively took a step back.
'Why does that thing have Dialga's aura on it?"
Before he could recover from his shock, Axel pulled out a white scale radiating spatial power.
["No, no, no, don't use that one!"], Regigigas quickly stopped him, terrified that he'd end up entangled in even greater karmic cause and effect.
If Axel patted his butt and left afterward, how would he deal with the temporal twins?
More importantly, Regirock's strength lay in its hardness. It didn't need other elements added.
"Alright then, take a look at this."
Axel pulled out more than ten Feathers of Destruction, making Regigigas's head ache.
["You fought Yveltal?"]
["How could you provoke such a vicious one? That guy loves coming back from the dead to take revenge..."]
"No problem," Axel said nonchalantly, closing his backpack, "Next time he revives, I'll just pluck him again. He ran too fast last time."
Then he unclasped a necklace from around his neck.
"This thing, I snatched it from Yveltal's Trainer. Supposedly it's something Xerneas transformed into. If I pull off a few branches and add them in, could it give Regirock better regeneration?"
Axel planned to give Regirock some regenerative ability, before giving it to the little loli, it could help Gible grind its teeth.
Before Regigigas could raise a hand to refuse, a gentle yet exasperated voice came from within the small tree pendant.
["No! I may be asleep, but that doesn't mean I'm dead!"]
Xerneas sounded exasperated. Except for the first time she met Axel, when she thought he was a bad person, later she'd learned from the lake guardians that Axel was a good man, and had even witnessed him saving Sinnoh with her own eyes.
These days, she had seen firsthand how kindly he treated Pokémon.
There were even moments she'd considered joining forces with him to fight the Rainbow Rocket Team that would one day descend.
'But looking at things now... this guy definitely studied under a Smeargle, such a dog!'
"Ahem~", Axel scratched his head awkwardly, quickly putting the little tree back around his neck.
"So you're awake. Forget it, then."
"Hmph!", Xerneas snorted coldly.
Axel grinned shamelessly, "Want to come out and join my Pokémon as a partner?"
Xerneas didn't answer, the jade-white little tree turned black.
Clearly, she'd sealed off her six senses and shut herself away.
["Shall we start?",] Regigigas asked nervously, feeling he couldn't let Axel keep thinking.
If this continued, he was genuinely afraid Axel might set his sights on something on him.
"Alright!"
Regigigas didn't hesitate anymore. He gripped all the silicon Axel had bought and began kneading it in his massive hands.
Under his power, the silicon became as soft as clay, gaining incredible flexibility.
Soon, the outline of Regirock began to take shape.
Its entire body was silver-gray, its surface gleaming with a metallic luster.
The only thing that surprised Axel was how light it looked, without any sense of heaviness.
Sensing Axel's gaze, Regigigas grinned.
["Relax, it's not time for the key step yet."]
As he spoke, he took out a massive Hard Stone and inserted it into the still-forming Regirock.
A surge of weighty energy instantly filled the air, giving Regirock an aura of unshakable solidity.
Axel nodded in satisfaction. The Hard Stone was a naturally formed treasure, known as a stone that never cracks.
Even when held by ordinary rock-type Pokémon, it could increase the power of their rock-type moves.
Now, used as Regirock's heart, it couldn't be more perfect.
["Go ahead and toss in whatever you've prepared too. No idea what's going to come out this time..."]
The King of the Regigigas sighed. Over his long existence, he had often created divine offspring for various reasons.
Beyond the three legendary Regigigas, he'd occasionally produced other beings by accident, from strange materials.
This time... it probably wouldn't fit the usual Regirock standards.
Hopefully Axel wouldn't ask for a refund later.
'Bah, whatever, let Axel deal with it however he wants.'
As long as he wasn't the one taking the blame.
Regigigas decided to make it clear upfront, ["You can add in whatever materials you prepared now."]
["But let me say this first, I'm not very good at purification. If something else ends up coming out, you'll have to accept it."]
"Don't worry, I'll handle the purification myself," Axel grinned, releasing a fiery red Poké Ball.
"Little Phoenix, light it up!"
