Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Kiana: That Was Close, I Almost Turned Into a Pervert

[Kaslana Super Strength!]

[Description: The Kaslana family are descendants of the first fusion warrior, Kevin. They are born with strong resistance to Honkai and possess power far beyond that of ordinary humans.]

When Levi saw the description, his eyes lit up.

"Born with strong resistance to Honkai!?"

'Could this thing actually come with Honkai resistance as a bonus?!'

He rolled up his sleeve, the Honkai corrosion on his arm didn't look any different from before.

Levi closed his eyes and carefully felt for any changes in his body.

Aside from feeling much stronger than before, he didn't sense anything unusual about the Honkai erosion on his arm.

"Looks like the description was just talking about the Kaslanas themselves, and the effect of their super strength," Levi said with a sigh, a little disappointed.

Strengthening his power was tempting, sure, but right now, the top priority was getting rid of the Honkai energy eating away at him.

Only after that could he think about making himself stronger, to survive whatever chaos came next.

At the moment, there were two possible ways to deal with the Honkai erosion, and two people who could help him.

Those two were Kiana and Elysia.

The two methods were...

1. Asking them to find medicine that could treat Honkai infection in their respective worlds, then send it to him through the chat group.

2. Completing missions for them through the system, which might reward him with abilities that could neutralize Honkai energy.

For example, their Honkai resistance.

Or perhaps, their Herrscher cores.

Kiana was the Herrscher of the Void. Elysia was the Herrscher of Humanity, also known as the Original Herrscher.

Whether it was obtaining Honkai resistance or a Herrscher core, either one would cure the Honkai disease that was devouring Levi's life.

The only difference was how they worked.

One neutralized Honkai energy, expelling it from the body. The other adapted to it, turning that energy into one's own strength.

If he had to choose, Levi leaned toward the second option, making the Honkai his power.

But ultimately, it all depended on what the system decided to drop from them.

Compared to Honkai resistance, a Herrscher core was far rarer and more valuable.

Which also meant, its drop rate was much lower. He might only get it at the very end.

And that was assuming the system didn't give duplicate rewards.

If it could repeat rewards, and considering Levi's notoriously bad luck, he might never get a Herrscher core in this lifetime.

If his luck got even worse, he might not even manage to pull Honkai resistance.

Then he'd just die before Kiana or the others could find the medicine for him.

"My invincible career ending before it even starts… I won't let that happen!"

Levi's eyes hardened, his gaze burning with determination that anyone could see, his will to fight against the Honkai itself.

If only he wasn't still wearing Kiana's panties on his head, it would've looked a lot more convincing.

———

"Kiana?"

"Eek!"

Because she didn't know where Theresa had gone, Kiana was wandering aimlessly around the St. Freya Academy's medical wing. When she heard someone call her name from behind, her body reacted instinctively, she covered her butt.

Theresa walked up, frowning in confusion. "Why are you still here? Shouldn't you be checking out your dorm room? I'm warning you, after today, if you want to change rooms, I won't help you."

Seeing Theresa approach, Kiana automatically took two steps back, turned sideways, and crossed her arms in front of her chest protectively.

Theresa blinked, clearly puzzled by that reaction.

Kiana spoke up first.

"I was just about to find you!" She snapped, keeping a safe distance between them. "I don't even know where my dorm is! St. Freya is huge, and there are so many buildings, how the hell am I supposed to find it?"

"You don't know where your dorm is?"

Theresa looked genuinely baffled. "Didn't I ask Himeko to tell you?"

"She didn't tell you?"

"She didn't say a word!"

"..."

———

"Achoo!"

Himeko sneezed as she walked down the path, scratching her itchy nose. She was carrying a few bottles of wine, heading back to her room for a quiet drink.

Just then, Bronya came walking toward her.

"Good evening, Teacher Himeko," Bronya greeted politely.

'What a well-mannered kid.'

"Good!" Himeko smiled. "It's getting late, where are you off to?"

"To the medical wing, to find Kiana."

Himeko nodded and was about to leave when something occurred to her. She turned back to Bronya.

"That thing I asked you to do, you finished it, right?"

The sunset was fading fast. At this hour, Bronya was still going to the medical wing to find Kiana…

"Don't tell me you haven't been there yet."

Himeko froze, staring at her.

Under that gaze, Bronya nodded calmly.

"Bronya was cleaning her dorm. She just finished."

Himeko sighed and rubbed her forehead. "So that's why Kiana's still in her room after Mei left."

She'd assumed Kiana just didn't feel like leaving yet. Turns out, she didn't even know where to go.

And Himeko had thought she was being kind by letting Kiana wander around and get used to the campus.

At this rate, she'd be lucky if she kept even thirty percent of her salary this month.

———

"Himeko!"

Theresa practically growled the name through gritted teeth.

She glanced at Kiana, then looked around until she spotted what she needed, a map of St. Freya Academy pinned to the wall.

She rushed over, tore it down, and shoved it into Kiana's hands.

Pointing at one section, she said, "Your dorm's right here. I have things to do, so I'm leaving!"

And then she dashed out of the medical wing, clearly on her way to find someone to yell at.

Watching Theresa leave, Kiana finally exhaled and lowered her arms.

She looked down at the map and the spot Theresa had pointed out, then began her quest to find her dorm.

And to find her way, she had to talk to people.

Normally, that wouldn't have bothered her. But now, in her current state of undress, having to talk to strangers made her want to dig a hole and bury herself alive.

"Uh… okay… thanks."

The Valkyrie she asked for directions blinked in confusion as Kiana shuffled off awkwardly, her shy behavior leaving the girl scratching her head.

After asking around all the way there, Kiana finally made it to her dorm room. She collapsed onto the floor with a sigh.

Covering her burning face with both hands, she took a deep breath.

"Finally free!"

She'd spent the whole walk taking tiny, careful steps to avoid making any sudden movements that might expose her.

Which, of course, had made plenty of people stare at her strange, fidgety walk.

Just remembering those looks made her face burn hotter.

Realizing how worked up she was getting, Kiana gave herself a hard smack on the forehead.

Then she stood up, her chest rising and falling with each breath.

"That was close… I almost turned into a pervert!"

Looking at the pitch-black living room, Kiana fumbled for the light switch and flicked it on.

Click!

Her eyes swept across the now-bright room, and stopped when she spotted a familiar figure crouched in the corner.

A pair of gray eyes was quietly watching her.
