Chapter 78 - A Postponed War

No sooner had the Leader of the Titans said this than he slowly waved his hand and spoke in a firm, decisive voice:

"Go now. Continue what you were doing, and do not dwell on this matter too much… the child is fine."

The Titans obeyed his order without question.

One by one, they returned to their tasks: some resumed forging weapons, others carving armor, and others keeping watch over the depths of the ocean.

Soon, the square was empty—save for their leader alone.

Then…

The Leader of the Titans took a deep breath and slowly shook his head, murmuring to himself:

How long has it been since a new member was born into our tribe?

How many ages have passed in which we diminished instead of growing?

While he was lost in these heavy thoughts, he sensed a presence approaching.

He slowly lifted his gaze and saw the Great Matriarch standing not far from him—steadfast as ever, her eyes carrying the wisdom of long centuries.

He said to her with mild surprise:

"Is there something else, Matriarch?"

She replied in a calm tone, though clear doubt lay beneath it:

"You are not thinking of starting a war anytime soon after this news… are you, my leader?"

He paused briefly at her question, then answered with blunt honesty:

"Yes… I am thinking about it.

Is there a problem with that?"

The Matriarch sighed deeply, then said in a serious voice:

"Of course there is a problem, my leader.

With the birth of this child, we now have a new member in our tribe…

and that alone is enough to change the course of the coming war."

The Leader of the Titans frowned slightly, understanding her meaning, and said:

"You are suggesting that I postpone the war…

until the child grows up, aren't you?"

She looked at him with a mix of surprise and astonishment, then said:

"Is that not the wisest decision?

We Titans are not known for our numbers, but for the strength of each individual.

Think for a moment…

How magnificent would it be to fight with a new member among us?

A single Titan is capable of destroying entire kingdoms on the continent of Mira."

The leader fell silent.

Her words were logical… completely correct.

And yet, something burned within him—

an old rage, and a painful longing for a continent that once belonged to them, stolen by force.

Seeing the conflict in his eyes, the Matriarch stepped forward and gently placed a hand on his massive shoulder—a rare gesture of tenderness—and said softly:

"Do not worry, my leader…

I know what weighs on your mind.

The loss we suffered was not yours alone,

but the loss of us all."

Sensing that her words were beginning to calm him, she continued quickly before his anger could return:

"Think carefully.

A new war…

but this time with a new Titan among us.

Would that not be satisfying?

Do you not wish to see the fear and fury in the Dragon King's eyes when he realizes that we have returned… stronger than before?"

Silence fell between them—

a heavy silence…

but this time, it was not the silence of hesitation,

rather the silence of a decision slowly taking shape in the mind of the Leader of the Titans.

When the Matriarch finished speaking, the Leader of the Titans could only nod slowly, a smile forming on his face—one that carried a mix of conviction and excitement. Then he said with a low chuckle:

"Yes, Matriarch… how wonderful that would be.

I truly wish to witness that moment from now… hehehe."

When the Matriarch saw that her words had borne fruit, that she had brought her leader back to reason and pulled him away from reckless thoughts, she smiled faintly and asked in a reassuring tone:

"Then… we will wait, won't we, my leader?"

The Leader of the Titans looked at her steadily and replied in a firm, composed voice:

"Yes, Matriarch.

We will wait until that child grows up…

and only then will we reclaim what is rightfully ours."

Seeing that her leader had returned to rational thinking and that her role was done, the Matriarch said calmly and respectfully:

"Excuse me, my leader. I will now return to my duties."

He nodded and said:

"Go, Matriarch…

and thank you for bringing me back to reason."

As soon as the Matriarch heard his words, she smiled and waved her hand, saying:

"There is no need for thanks, my leader.

This is my duty as the eldest member of the tribe."

With that, she departed quietly, leaving her leader alone in the depths of the ocean, lost in thought—reflecting on his mistakes and on the path he had nearly taken in anger.

When the Matriarch vanished from his sight, the Leader of the Titans sighed deeply and thought to himself:

What would I have done without you, Matriarch?

His thoughts returned to a logical course, and he realized how much anger had been controlling his mind and actions.

How could he have considered waging a war without waiting for the child to grow?

How had he failed to see the value of having another Titan fighting alongside them?

The Leader of the Titans only realized the extent of his haste and foolishness thanks to the Matriarch's counsel.

He pondered her words carefully and became certain that he needed to change his mindset and return to rational thinking—not just for himself, but for his entire tribe, so as not to expose them to danger beyond the depths of the ocean.

And elsewhere… far from the ocean depths and his past mistakes…

On the Demonic Continent, the Demon King stood with a grim expression, staring toward an unknown direction. He frowned deeply and muttered in a low voice filled with unease:

"What is happening?

Where has the scent of war gone?"

The Demon King realized that something was wrong—something whose nature he did not yet understand. His frown deepened, and he raised his voice in command:

"Find out what is happening!

Why has the scent of war that once filled the world vanished, demons?!"

The moment he spoke, chaos swept across the Demonic Continent.

Legions of demons surged forth like a raging flood, heading toward the continent of Mira and the Fallen Isles, carrying out their king's orders.

And with this step alone…

the demons began to spread chaos and bloodshed.
