The next day.
The sun was scorching his butt when Roy woke up leisurely. Yesterday, the village elders had plied him with cup after cup of ale; even his Level 4 constitution couldn't hold up. Seeing the familiar environment—the room he had lived in for over a decade—a look of nostalgia appeared on Roy's face.
The lively party was over; it was time to get down to business.
After breakfast, Roy said goodbye to his old man. Under the eager gazes of the villagers, he left the village with Tione and Tiona.
"Captain, where are we going to find that brat named Welf?" Tione asked.
Tione and Tiona knew about the deal between Roy and Marius. This trust moved the two Amazon girls even more.
"Sword City Zolingen!"
Roy replied. He remembered that after fleeing the Kingdom of Rakia, Welf had been working as a blacksmith apprentice in that city. Later, he met the Goddess Hephaestus, became her dependent, and then ran off to Orario.
Before leaving Orario, he had asked someone to gather information on the Hephaestus Familia and found no member named Welf, indicating the kid was likely still in Sword City.
"Sword City... I heard that place is really far." Tiona had seen it in picture books.
"Yes. By carriage from here, it would probably take three or four days," Roy said.
"So far," Tiona said listlessly. It had only taken them a day to get here from Orario.
Tione, on the other hand, looked blissful. Doesn't this mean I get to spend a few more days with the Captain?
"Stop complaining. That's why we're using a different mode of transport!" Roy reached out and ruffled Tiona's hair.
"A different mode of transport?"
Tione and Tiona looked curious.
"Come out!"
Roy shouted at the sky.
Boom!
As soon as his voice fell, dark clouds rolled in the depths of the sky, as if a thunder beast were hiding within. Silver lightning descended from the heavens, smashing heavily onto the earth. Rocks shattered and flew, kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
Deep within the dust, shadows flickered.
"Captain, watch out!" Sensing a dangerous aura, Tione and Tiona's expressions turned serious. They adopted combat stances, shielding Roy behind them.
"No need to be nervous," Roy reassured them.
The dust settled. In the center of a crater about five meters in radius, a majestic and mighty divine bull appeared. Its skin was pitch black, its muscles robust, and its two massive horns exuded power. Its eyes were bright and spirited, possessing a distinct intelligence unlike ordinary monsters.
Connected behind it was a domineering chariot, massive in volume, with giant blades on both sides emitting a dangerous cold light.
Bzzt! Bzzt!
Both the divine bull and the chariot crackled with fine silver lightning. It was the Thunderhoof Bull and the Gordius Wheel (Divine Wheel)!
Roy stepped forward. This was his first time using this Noble Phantasm since obtaining it.
"Wow, what is this?"
Tiona exclaimed in amazement, her small face filled with excitement as she rushed up to knock, touch, climb, and hit the divine bull and chariot.
Roy explained, "This is a tamed monster that can serve as transportation."
The two suddenly understood, but simultaneously had a new doubt: How can a bull run faster than a horse? Even among monsters...
"Get on!" Roy smiled mysteriously.
Full of anticipation, Tione and Tiona followed Roy onto the chariot. Roy pulled the reins.
Moo!
The Thunderhoof Bull let out a cry. Surging lightning erupted—crackle, crackle! Its body floated into the air, its hooves making sounds as if stepping on solid ground. Pulling the chariot, it soared into the sky.
Objects on the ground became smaller and smaller, gradually turning into tiny black dots. The howling wind cut like knives, leaving Tione and Tiona stunned.
"Captain, this is amazing! We're flying in the sky!" Tiona yelled excitedly.
Flight was one of humanity's dreams. In this world, only a very few Wyverns, domesticated from birth, could be driven by humans to carry passengers. However, the price of such monsters was exorbitant; in Orario, only the Ganesha Familia raised a few.
Next was Asfi's flying shoes.
Very few people could enjoy flight.
Tione took the opportunity to hug Roy. "Captain, if I fall, you must protect me."
"Sure, sure, sure."
