Chapter 27 - The Lord’s Stomach

...Is it possible... for this scum to be sincere This man with that demeaning gaze.

Could his love, or what he claims with such boundless insolence, actually be true.

No one can ever know... It is an immense dilemma, where you lie and are fully aware of your deceit, yet you believe yourself completely.

This was what he truly was... uncertain, unsure, and lacking any conviction. He knew his words were as fragile as a straw.

They were inappropriate and justified nothing in reality, for they were not the truth. Would the situation change if he truly loved Sarah.

If his feelings were sincere... would he have succeeded. Or was this merely a claim to deny his own wrongdoing

...Rationally

...[You are lying]

...Internally

[I am not so sure]...

[ But you will not deceive me... I do not want to hurt you, yet you are putting yourself in danger... You speak what's on your mind without any brakes, as if this is the only way!

And now, you are trying to adopt a different approach after failing your first attempt...]

[This is not a simulation of reality, Sam... It is not a fantasy world designed to fulfill your desires. But desires never end, Sam... even if you got me, you would never be satisfied.

It's not as if I'm trying to play hard to get]

Is that true...?

In that case, the approach or the method doesn't really matter... What if he actually fell into the abyss of his own desires? What if he truly obtained everything, just as he had wished?

The problem wasn't in the way he obtained it... rather, after getting it, would his heart truly be satisfied? He used to think he was doing this only to be satiated, so he wouldn't have to ask for more.

But he is a human... What if he never feels full

?But would he change his goals at the first turning point

No, as long as there is a way, why not...? He has returned from the dead .

What if he died again without achieving anything...

while being completely unsatisfied That is the absolute worst

[ No problem... I made a mistake at the beginning.. You can trust me from now on.. I won't drift away anymore]

...He had learned a lesson ...Do not chase your desires like a madman, thinking you will grab them faster

..Enjoy every moment first Because desire will never die; It only renews itself

After a short while... Sam was brought inside from the street once more. He entered a bathroom in one of the servants' rooms to bathe, and after drenching himself in a flood of streaming hot water fe became much cleaner

Sarah even gave him a special ollir to heal the buna on his chest and treat all the wounds on his battered body

An hour later, the two of them gathered at the dining table

Before Sam sat a luxurious dinner from a high-end restaurant

The dishes consisted of duck liver cooked with butter... and cuts of high-quality "Smart Pasture" best, prepared steak-style with its own seasoned fet oil and a truffle mushroom sauce.. with thin slices garnished over the steak

The type of restaurant certainly served meals of exceptionel presentation, charging at least double the price of the rew Ingredients

Even if the taste ween't that good

This perspective had always kept Sam from eating et such places-not just because he was poor, but because, from a closer look, it simply seemed like a waste of money

Amidst the dining at this table—whose undeniable, massive size spoke for itself—an absolute, suffocating silence reigned.

Between Sam and Sarah... the clashing of forks against plates and the scraping sounds created an uncomfortable hum. Sam looked at Sarah, who was eating with agonizing slowness, as if nothing had happened.

"This is strange..."

Oh, he dared to break the silence at last. What a shameless man.

"Usually, you use your left hand to cut steak by pulling the knife backward... but now, you're using your left hand to cut forward."

What is this scoundrel saying? Is he trying to start a conversation out of thin air?

"What is the meaning of this?" she asked.

"It's a unique technique from Japanese cuisine... quite distinctive."

Damn it, this man is useless.

"It doesn't matter," Sarah said. "Since Clara isn't attending the academy, she'll be staying with me until her return. So, instead of sitting around uselessly, I am assigning you a mission at my company, Electra. It is a high-priority task."

High priority? Sounds interesting.

"The Blessed Mana Child... it is a legendary small-scale statue. Legends from one of the continents say it appears in a dungeon located in the nearby hills. This statue was mentioned in one of the books of the Great Wizard, Lucius."

In the world of Exceptional Experience at the Hero Academy, dungeons were merely a side-element for training and resource gathering. In reality, each dungeon possessed a unique timing for appearance and disappearance. If a dungeon closed while you were inside, you would be imprisoned until the gate opened again. You would have to fight an endless horde of monsters until that time.

"According to explorers... the tribe says their legendary warrior took the blessing of this statue and managed to survive for four months against monsters without sleep."

The trouble with dungeon exploration is that it requires days and long hours; you need an assistant to alert you of monsters attacking while you sleep. And frankly, these places were truly terrifying. The description in the novel didn't capture their true horror.

Every dungeon draws you into a hollow world called "The Lord's Stomach." Specifically, the monsters represent the digestive juices trying to break down humans and convert them into mana.

'And the legendary name for the dungeon gate is... The Lord's Mouth.'

"The Blessed Mana Child is known for its legendary blessing. Its value is higher than money itself..."

The following day, in a forest as lush and green as a leaf in every direction, the sun rose, its light filtered by the dense canopy. Sam stood in the heart of the forest, dressed in specialized woodland gear, carrying a loaded backpack and a radio.

He had been told that the guide would meet him at the train station upon his arrival in Ailo—a beautiful, rustic green province with an incredibly fragrant scent. However, when he arrived and waited, the guide was late.

Sarah had instructed him to go to a specific spot and wait, but when he did, no one showed up. He called Sarah again, and she directed him to another location to wait once more. This cycle continued until he found himself deep within this forest, which felt more like a labyrinth.

Suddenly, five figures approached Sam... their shadows flickering across the trees and the emerald leaves scattered everywhere.

As they emerged... the group's guide turned out to be none other than... Old Max!??
