Chapter 105 - 080: recovery(1)

The second search mission left the water station on day 211 at 6 AM. Monica and Steffi stayed behind. Monica spent morning training with a rifle. She wasted 180 rounds.

(the place used to house thousands of soldiers, they have a shit load of bullets.)

At lunch, the two cooked a meal: french fries and chicken cutlets covered with melted cheese.

The station's filtration systems kept the air fresh, while sunlight streamed through the transparent roof, and lit the greenery around them.

After lunch, Steffi put a tea kettle on the cooking unit. "wanna see something interesting?" he asked.

"Why not?" She was genuinely bored.

Steffi then told her that he'd found a NanoCam in one of the house during the last mission. He kept it from Egon. Now he was ready to share it with her. Monica agreed. Steffi got a tablet from the vehicle, connected it to the NanoCam and they played the footage.

The first video played. A a young girl was standing at the gate of the western section, The gate connecting the inner area and the outer perimeter. Two troop carriers on either side of the gate, tens of small vehicles, and hundreds of soldiers showed in the background. The sun's occasionally glared the camera as soldiers moved supplies from cargo trucks to smaller vehicles.

The girl spoke directly to the camera. "Oh my god, guys. I just got here, to this so-called shelter the government wants us in. Honestly? I'm not buying this nuclear war thing. It's definitely aliens. And they're not invading us. They just want to talk. If this really was a war, wouldn't we see signs? And why would the government care about saving nobodies like me? This is definitely an alien invasion. And they don't want us to see. Don't let the army tell you what to do. You have the right to look with your own eyes. Don't hide in shelters. Go meet the aliens face to face. Looks them in the eyes. The choice is yours."

The second video played. The same girl walked filming the first level of the southeastern section, shown by codes on the walls. The area was vast, filled with massive machinery and tools designed for crafting components of spaceships.

She whispered. "Oh my god. These walls are made of titanium, guys. It can stand massive explosions, fires, contamination, toxic exposure, biochemical hazards, Plasma Storm, Neutron Star Collision, Solar Flare Superstorm, Dark Matter Avalanche and many more. Is this normal for a shelter? I don't think so."

Invisible hinges connected sections of the walls, each marked with a small warning: Achtung! Bewegliche Scharniere. Which meant something in german.

As the girl walked, she spoke. "I will be exploring this massive prison the government put me in. It's impossible to escape these walls. They say it's for the facilities in it, but they can't fool me. I know, they want us locked in. I know and so should you. Break free of their brainwashing. Leave the shelters, leave the prisons they built for you."

At the end of the clip, she showed the main gate of the southwestern section, which was wide open with no guards.

The third video showed people leaving through the gate. A few guards tried to stop them. She zoomed on one officer. His name tag read: Kdr. Janz.

"This man." she said, almost yelling at him. "He works for the government. He wants you silent, obedient, and brainless. Look at him, he's trying to trap people in this prison. But see how many are breaking free? You should do the same. Don't be a part of the herd. Get out while you can."

As she spoke, The officer pulled a device from his pocket, aimed it at the camera, and clicked. The video was cut.
