Chapter 83 - Bonus: 3.3 dream

The soul is a collection of memories connected to the physical form that is either a cause of its existence or a result of it.

During inducing, the fragment strikes at this foundation. It reshapes the prey's most vital memories—the ones tied to the core of the soul—until they no longer mirror the imprint carved into the passage of the eyes. Each distortion frays the bond between soul and vessel, making them less alike, less aligned, less one.

At first, the prey resists, clinging to itself. But as the changes mount, the soul begins to drift, becoming stranger to the body that once held it. Finally, a point is reached when the altered soul bears so little resemblance to its original imprint that the bond cannot endure.

No longer recognized by its own vessel, the soul becomes a foreigner within its flesh. Faced with exile in all but name, it chooses the only path left—it departs.
