The laptop screen glowed blue in the dim Omega quarters, files open, screenshots lined up like ammunition. Dates, recordings, bank transfers, the massacre orders with Devon's own digital signature. My fingers hovered over the keyboard, heart steady for once. I was so close.
The door slammed open so hard it bounced off the wall.
Brielle stumbled in, panting, eyes wild. "Irene. Gideon. They took him at dawn. Devon's enforcers dragged him out in chains. They say he killed two elders and Councilor Hale. They're saying Gideon killed them."
I didn't look up. Just clicked to the next file.
Brielle's breathing hitched. "Irene?"
I kept scrolling.
She stepped closer, voice cracking. "Why aren't you reacting? Did you… did you know?"
I finally met her eyes. "I knew. I'll handle it."
