Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Hintleyya, the Receptionist

Logically speaking, new employee onboarding wasn't something she needed to worry about.

But today ended unexpectedly quickly, so Noah felt she could drop by the HR department to see this new colleague before going to eat.

Seeing that Kuro and SilverAsh were still chatting, Noah simply pushed her small wheelchair herself, slowly moving away.

To be fair, although Noah was blind, her memory and sense of direction were excellent, and the company's layout was very well-considered, being very square and easy to navigate. Combined with her memory, she could move around the company completely unhindered. Moreover, with her sixth sense for people, she wasn't worried about bumping into anyone. Instead, she was rather happy to finally be moving independently. Usually, Kuro pushed her wheelchair, and she had almost forgotten what it felt like to sneak out alone.

Soon, Noah arrived at the HR department door. Although there was still a door between them, Noah could already hear her HR manager talking about rules and regulations.

Noah's company didn't actually have many rules. Noah also didn't want to restrict her employees. If they were working for her, then she should provide corresponding compensation and benefits to those employees willing to dedicate their energy and time, including holidays, overtime pay, even year-end bonuses, and regular organized trips. Most importantly—there would be no demands on employees after work hours, not even notifications.

If overtime was required, it would be announced during work hours, and overtime pay would be issued on the same day!

Other benefits included not organizing any team-building activities after work, an employee cafeteria, meal allowances for those who preferred not to eat in the cafeteria, as well as employee dormitories and various subsidies.

Basically, everything was designed for employee convenience. Noah had been making adjustments and improvements since the first day of opening the company, and there was even a mentor system specifically for new employees. In short, from the current perspective, this company was currently the most humane company in Kazimierz.

"You've worked hard. It's almost lunch break. I'll handle the onboarding." Noah pulled open the sliding door of the HR department and said to the HR manager, "…Also, we're really meeting right away, Ms. Hintleyya? Is this…?"

That's right, from the very beginning, Noah had recognized that the employee inside was Ms. Hintleyya, the Shieldless League assassin she had met before. Upon Noah's arrival, the HR manager immediately perked up. "No, I can handle it myself. And…Chairman, please don't always snatch my work; it makes me look like I'm slacking off with pay."

"How could that be? My employees are all very capable." Noah said with a smile, "It's just that I happen to be free right now. I can even take the new employee to the cafeteria for lunch later. You go first; the chef made braised lion's head today."

"…Braised lion's head…"

"Yes, if you go late, it'll be gone. I came to tell you in advance." Noah just smiled, but the HR manager, who had swallowed hard, looked at the bewildered new employee, Ms. Hintleyya, then looked at Noah, and finally couldn't resist the temptation. "Then…then I'll go first, Ms. Hintleyya. Please follow our Chairman to complete the onboarding procedures, and then we'll go to the employee cafeteria for lunch. During the probation period, you can use all of the company's facilities completely free of charge. Please excuse me for now!"

And so, Hintleyya ended up in Noah's hands.

After scanning the contract with a device, Noah realized that Miss Hintleyya was actually applying for a receptionist position.

"Miss Hintleyya, did you… get fired?"

"...Yes." Hintleyya's toes curled in embarrassment. She had just made a grand exit, only to immediately receive news that she needed to get close to Noah. How else could she approach her? The best way was to infiltrate.

And so, Miss Hintleyya was unceremoniously kicked out of her position as a corporate representative for an Originium hand sanitizer company and came to Noah's company to be a receptionist.

"Is that so…? You just finalized a business contract, but then you got fired. Is your company really serious about its business?" Noah shook her head, complaining.

"...Ah, haha… I think so too." Hintleyya pouted, thinking, 'What can I do? The power structure of this company is too twisted. Why does a leader like me have to do the most work?'

Three top leaders, two mid-level leaders, and then… only she was a small foreman, right?

"Well, I did think about poaching you before, and this isn't so bad, is it? Even as a receptionist, our company's benefits are not bad, you know." Noah said with a smile. Of course, she couldn't possibly believe Hintleyya's excuse of being fired. It was already a foregone conclusion that Hintleyya was with the Shieldless League, and given her eagerness to approach Noah, she was probably trying to gather more intelligence. However, if Miss Hintleyya was going deep into the tiger's den… the possibility of an assassination was actually low, because Noah didn't think anyone could assassinate her in her own company and get away unscathed.

Unless Miss Hintleyya was a suicide operative… but that possibility was indeed low.

Judging by Hintleyya's reaction after seeing Uncle Manner earlier, let alone being a suicide operative, the moment she saw Uncle Manner, she had already abandoned all her intentions.

Then there was another possibility… that the Shieldless League felt they needed a liaison to stay by her side? Was this a gesture of goodwill?

Noah frowned, pondering the Shieldless League's possible intentions.

"Um…"

"Hm?"

"The dinner you mentioned earlier… it won't be in the employee cafeteria, will it?"

"...No."

"Phew, that's good."

Noah suddenly felt that thinking so much was like casting pearls before swine. The other party was actually still concerned about her treating them to a meal. If she wanted to go out to eat with her, why didn't she just say so? Even without Kuro by her side, Noah could now be completely sure that the Hintleyya in front of her had no murderous intent towards her, and even seemed to be anticipating something.

"Don't worry, the master chef in the employee cafeteria is very good. You'll know once you've tasted it." Noah said with a smile, "Alright, if everything is in order, sign here, and you can start work tomorrow."

"Oh… tomorrow."

"If you're willing, I can even count today as attendance for you." Noah blinked, "Alright, just kidding. On your first day of employment, while it counts as work, we won't require you to come to the company. You can arrange your own affairs first. If you don't have a place to stay, you can also apply for employee housing. It's in the apartment building next to the company."

"...Next door? That hotel-decorated building? Which floor?"

"The entire building—it's all mine."

"..."

Hintleyya, or rather, Miss Platinum Position, calculated her savings, and her teeth almost shattered.

—She hated rich people.
