Chapter 65 - Story-65-The Perfect Spheres of the Costa Rican Jungle

Location: The Diquís Delta and Isla del Caño, Costa Rica — buried for centuries until the 1930s. 🇨🇷

Story:

In the 1930s, as workers cleared jungle for banana plantations in Costa Rica, their machetes struck something hard and smooth beneath the soil. Digging deeper, they uncovered massive stone spheres, some the size of a baseball, others taller than a person, weighing up to 16 tons. Each was perfectly round, polished to a shine, and carved from solid granite. Hundreds were found scattered across the region, as if placed with purpose in patterns now lost to time. 🏞

Twist:

No one knows who made them, how they were shaped with such precision using primitive tools, or why. Were they astronomical calendars? Markers of sacred sites? Symbols of power? Legends say they guard ancient gold or mark portals to another world. Many were moved, damaged, or stolen before archaeologists could study them in place, erasing clues. To this day, the stone spheres remain a silent, stunning enigma, a message in stone from a civilization that left no written record, only perfect circles in the earth, waiting to be understood. ⚒
