Chapter 93 - Chapter 96

The Tesseract is one of the six Infinity Stones in the Marvel Universe, also known as the Infinity Cube.

Harnessing the power of space, it can open spatial portals and transport vast numbers of weapons and soldiers anywhere, launching interstellar wars.

During World War II, Hydra, led by the Red Skull, seized it from Tønsberg Castle in Norway in an attempt to develop infinite energy and advanced weapons.

After Captain America defeated the Red Skull, the Tesseract fell into the ocean, where it was later discovered by Howard Stark and eventually came under the control of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After witnessing Thor's arrival, Nick Fury realized that a new war was inevitable. The outbreak of an interstellar conflict was only a matter of time—especially with the added threat of Lu Yi.

In fact, Lu Yi posed an even greater danger.

Before fully understanding the nature of the Tesseract, Nick Fury handed it over to Erik Selvig for research and weapons development.

This project was named "Phase Two", a title that was, frankly, absurd.

Only someone suffering from extreme naming difficulties could come up with such a bland name.

But none of that mattered. What truly mattered was what would happen next.

When Selvig was studying the Tesseract, Loki used it to open a spatial portal, planning to lead the Chitauri army through it to invade New York.

Later, Loki successfully obtained the Tesseract, allowing the Chitauri forces to descend upon Earth, which directly led to the formation of the Avengers and the outbreak of the Battle of New York.

In this process, Nick Fury, Thor, and now Lu Yi all played vital roles.

Thor and Lu Yi drove the progression of the world, while Nick Fury set the entire plan into motion. It could be said that none of the three were dispensable.

But if one had to say who played the greatest role, it would undoubtedly be Lu Yi.

Although Thor represented countless races across the cosmos, humanity was not the only intelligent species, and Earth was surrounded by immense dangers. Nick Fury proposed the plan, but neither he nor Thor were the decisive factors.

The true key was Lu Yi.

Without Lu Yi, this plan would have been extremely difficult to carry out.

When Nick Fury first proposed the plan to the World Security Council, its members did not immediately approve it. Instead, they began lengthy discussions.

This was not something that could be decided with a few words. It required enormous funding, advanced technological support, and negotiations over how the eventual benefits would be divided.

The council members argued endlessly, each trying to delay the decision as much as possible.

However, after one particular member spoke, the delay was immediately abandoned.

What did he say?

Very simply—he mentioned Lu Yi.

He said that their weapons had failed to harm Lu Yi not because Lu Yi was invincible, but because their weapons were too weak.

If their weapons were powerful enough—and if they harnessed the Tesseract to create even stronger armaments—then everything would change.

His words stunned everyone present.

But the more they thought about it, the more sense it made.

They quickly reached a consensus and stopped wasting time. Even though dividing the spoils afterward would be difficult, they still pushed the plan forward.

Otherwise, who knew how long they would keep arguing?

But did it end there?

No. Not at all.

The council members believed that this approach was still too slow and might not exert enough pressure on Lu Yi. Therefore, they decided to increase investment in both funding and technology.

As a result, the underground base Nick Fury prepared became even more advanced, more futuristic, and far more heavily defended, allowing the project to progress smoothly.

Lu Yi's role in all of this was undeniably crucial.

It was Lu Yi who accelerated and propelled the implementation of the entire plan.

And it was precisely because of Lu Yi that the spatial fluctuations around Earth grew increasingly intense, hastening Loki's arrival.

During this period, Lu Yi felt these changes most clearly. He could easily sense the strengthening spatial disturbances across the planet.

Earth was vast, and Lu Yi did not possess a magic array capable of monitoring the entire globe. Normally, detecting spatial fluctuations on the opposite side of the planet would be extremely difficult.

Yet he sensed them effortlessly.

This alone proved how violent the spatial disturbances had become.

Lu Yi firmly believed that under such intense spatial fluctuations, Loki would soon appear, bringing the Chitauri army with him.

Lu Yi was now simply waiting for his arrival.

He even planned to let Loki lead the Chitauri forces to Earth.

Once the plan unfolded, it would serve both as a test of his magic and an opportunity to reap tremendous rewards.

Lu Yi had not forgotten his goal of fighting machines to obtain drawing opportunities.

But the problem was that there was only one robot. No matter how many weapons it carried, they were still limited. After a few days, they would be exhausted, and acquiring more in a short time would be difficult.

The arrival of the Chitauri army would provide him with another perfect chance.

Their weapons might be somewhat strange, but their destructive power was beyond question.

Perhaps this time, he could play together with the Avengers.

Captain America, Natasha, Hawkeye, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man—these so-called Avengers were not truly Avengers in Lu Yi's eyes.

They were simply opportunities for drawing lots.

Defeating them all and compiling the results would undoubtedly yield yet another outstanding lottery opportunity—one he absolutely could not afford to miss.

As for what they thought, that didn't matter.

What mattered was what Lu Yi wanted.

Now, he was merely waiting for Loki to appear. At the critical moment, he would step in, clash with the Chitauri army and the Avengers, and claim his lottery rewards.

Fortunately, neither the Chitauri nor the Avengers knew what Lu Yi was thinking.

Otherwise, they would be furious.

After all, Lu Yi didn't take them seriously at all.

Wasn't that enough to make them furious?

If they knew the truth, they would probably strangle him on the spot.

If they were capable of doing so, that is.
