In an instant, Lu Yi turned into a beam of light and appeared right in front of Insk. Before Insk could react, Lu Yi's fist had already smashed into his head.
Puff!
With a sickening sound, Insk's skull was shattered by Lu Yi's terrifying strength. His entire head exploded into a spray of red and white, splattering across the wall behind him.
A once-white wall was now covered in red and white—a gruesome mixture of blood, brain matter, and bone fragments.
Everything happened too fast. Insk didn't even have time to react. Only after his head was gone did his body start twitching instinctively.
His grotesque body writhed as if trying to escape its own torn skin. The skin split in several places, revealing large portions of his hideous form underneath.
But it was pointless. Demons did have strong regenerative abilities, but losing the head was still fatal—especially for a bottom-tier demon like Insk.
Soon, the twitching stopped completely. His body went still. He was truly dead.
Insk's death was the result of his own stupidity.
Why did he insist on staying in the material world?
He had reversed the summoning method Lu Yi used to bring him here, preventing himself from returning to Hell at the moment before his death.
And so—he died.
Otherwise, Lu Yi would've had to put in far more effort.
"Aah!!"
A sharp scream suddenly rang out behind him, snapping Lu Yi out of his thoughts.
"That's enough!"
Lu Yi turned around impatiently and shouted at a girl wearing a light-colored blouse and denim skirt.
When Lu Yi first entered the bar, the killing intent radiating from him had scared nearly everyone away. Only the girl who had been in the restroom doing her makeup failed to escape.
Later, he realized she was just an ordinary person—completely harmless—and ignored her. He never expected she'd fail to notice anything until the very end.
After Lu Yi withdrew his killing intent, she continued doing her makeup as if nothing was wrong. It wasn't until he killed Insk and stepped out of the bathroom that she happened to witness the corpse.
Unless the girl was someone like Natasha, this was exactly how any normal person would react upon seeing such a body—shock and terror.
Seeing Insk's twisted corpse made her scream uncontrollably.
Lu Yi's shout finally made her stop.
"I—I—I didn't see anything…!" she blurted out, quickly covering her eyes with both hands.
Lu Yi froze for a moment, surprised by her quick thinking.
After a brief pause, he chuckled. "Relax. I didn't kill a good guy. He was a demon. You don't need to worry."
"Really?"
"I've got no reason to lie to you. Someone like you—if I wanted to kill you, I could do it a hundred or even eight hundred times over. I don't need to lie."
The girl thought it over. It… actually made sense. Gritting her teeth, she slowly lowered her hands and looked curiously at Lu Yi.
"Are you a superhero?" she asked.
"A superhero? No."
"No…?" She looked disappointed.
Maybe she felt safer thinking he was a superhero, Lu Yi thought to himself.
"Alright, that's enough. Go home. This place isn't for you. Don't come here again."
With that, Lu Yi used Phantom Shift and vanished from the bar.
"Who do you think you are? You don't get to order me around!" the girl muttered angrily, pouting.
Still, she quickly left.
After Lu Yi's departure, she was the only person left in the bar. Music still played, but with Insk's corpse lying there, the music couldn't drown out the terror creeping into her heart.
She hurried outside and let out a long breath. That bar was too terrifying. Every second she stayed inside felt like torture. She felt she might never step into a bar again.
"I'm never coming to a place like that again!"
Just after she finished complaining, one of her coworkers found her.
"Gwen, thank goodness you're safe! We were all scared to death!" said a woman with glasses who was older than Gwen.
Once everyone ran after sensing Lu Yi's killing intent, Gwen's coworkers realized Gwen hadn't escaped with them—but had instead been paralyzed with fear. And since Gwen's father wasn't an ordinary man, any trouble involving her could spell trouble for them as well.
They'd been desperately trying to contact her, and they couldn't believe how quickly things escalated.
Fortunately, she was unharmed.
"What happened in there?" Gwen asked, trembling with curiosity.
If her coworker hadn't asked, she might've held it together. But the question instantly brought back the image of Insk's mangled corpse.
Anyone who saw that body would gag. Gwen immediately ran to the side and threw up.
After fighting down another wave of nausea, Gwen took out her phone and dialed a very familiar number.
"Dad…"
"Hm? What's going on? Why do you have time to call me today?" came a stern voice through the speaker.
"Someone died here."
The voice on the other end, normally stern and composed, instantly broke. "What? Are you hurt?!"
"I'm fine. But I'm a witness, so I can only call you right now."
Despite vomiting so many times, Gwen stayed surprisingly clear-headed.
"Where's the criminal? Can you ensure your safety?"
"He's not a criminal. Actually… he's kind of a superhero," she said, referring to Lu Yi.
"What are you talking about? Are you trying to defend a murderer?"
"Dad, this is not something I can explain over the phone. You need to send someone over. Or better yet, come yourself. This is… complicated."
As she spoke, the image of that disgusting corpse flashed in her mind again—and she bent over, vomiting once more.
