After defeating Kaecilius, no one questioned anymore whether Harry was qualified to serve as the Sorcerer Supreme.
Taking up the mantle didn't come with any lavish, grand ceremony.
Everyone simply gathered in the main hall, and Wong solemnly placed the Eye of Agamotto against Harry's chest. With that, the momentous succession was complete.
And just as Harry had expected, the instant he became Sorcerer Supreme, his workload multiplied severalfold—first and foremost, the constant intrusions from other dimensions.
Dimensional demon-lords who'd been enemies of Kamar-Taj for ages—Dormammu, the tentacled "eye monster" types, and the like—seemed to have gotten into a habit. Every few days, they'd try to break through the Trinity Guardian Array and invade Earth.
Dealing with them was actually pretty simple.
Harry only had to steer the Trinity Guardian Array, and he could crush the attempts with ease.
It wasn't dangerous… but it was a public nuisance.
Just imagine it: Harry is in the middle of an absolutely blissful, all-out "fight" with Gwen, and then some blink-and-you-miss-it, tentacle-covered, giant eyeball freak shows up at Earth's doorstep to knock.
In that moment, Harry had a powerful urge to find a way to punch through the dimensional wall of the Chaos Dimension and go raise hell in somebody else's backyard.
But after thinking it over… forget it. Endure it.
After all, the last time he used the Hulk to crack open the wall of the Hell Dimension, the demon-lord behind the Hulk got a lot stingier. Sure, it still supplied the Hulk with power, but if Harry wanted to use the Hulk to break a dimensional barrier again? Dream on.
Because of that lesson, Harry considered letting Wanda take partial control of the Trinity Guardian Array—at the very least, while he was "fighting" Gwen, Wanda could handle the door.
But he quickly discovered the Array's authority was completely bound to the Eye of Agamotto. There was no way to transfer control.
So he had no choice but to add new functions to Hedwig and have her operate the Trinity Guardian Array. Only then did the headache finally settle down.
A few days later, Coulson used the loan system to relay the concrete results of the Battle of New York to Harry.
First: Loki, the mastermind behind the incident, had been taken back to Asgard by Thor and thrown into a cell.
By Asgardian standards, Loki would serve at least five hundred years of imprisonment.
At the same time, the scepter was also being held in Asgard's custody.
Second: per the agreement Harry had reached with S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier, the Tesseract—containing the Space Stone—was officially transferred to Kamar-Taj for safekeeping.
On top of that, Harry also held a friendly "discussion" with the U.S. government.
Out of sincere gratitude for Harry's outstanding contributions in the Battle of New York, the U.S. government generously offered to fund one hundred billion dollars to help Kamar-Taj build a new site.
And Harry had long since gotten sick of the current, rustic, outdated Kamar-Taj. He planned to build a floating city above it using runes.
Funny thing: on his very first day as Sorcerer Supreme, Harry did something that looked minor—yet had half the sorcerers gossiping for days.
He changed Kamar-Taj's Wi-Fi password.
New boss, new era—if you're changing things, change them thoroughly.
The old password had been "Shamballa."
The new password was "lolAOdead."
After the change, Mordo asked Harry what that string of letters was supposed to mean.
Harry answered with profound mystery, "It's a set of letters that contains ultimate truth. Once you've truly comprehended it, you won't ask me what it means."
Wong kept giving Harry this weird look, like he wanted to say something, but every time he was about to blurt it out, Harry would vanish from in front of him on the spot.
After that happened a few times, Wong stopped trying to get Harry to change the Wi-Fi password back.
Harry knew perfectly well why: Wong had spent enough years around internet slang to understand exactly what "lolAOdead" meant.
Heh.
Setting it like that was Harry's tiny little revenge on his teacher—for making him take the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme earlier than he'd wanted.
Next, Harry turned his attention to the Himalayas. After a careful survey, he picked out a particular peak.
He decided to pour an enormous amount of effort into carving runes into that mountain. With the runic power, he'd free the whole mass from gravity, let it slowly rise, and use it as a rock-solid foundation for his floating city.
From that day on, Harry's life became even busier—so fast-paced it was like he'd been wound up and let go. He even fought with Gwen less often, which was practically a sin.
Thinking of the increasingly aggrieved look Gwen had been giving him lately, Harry let out a heavy sigh, completely helpless.
Still, busy as he was, Harry's magical research paid off. He made major breakthroughs.
First was the repair spell. Using the vast amount of data from all the "volunteers" in the New York war, Harry quickly refined it, and the human repair spell was finally complete.
Of course, the first version had a flaw: if an injury was affected by higher-dimensional magic, it could very likely disrupt the spell's operation.
Harry planned to spend time later patching that weakness.
Besides that, because he now had the Tesseract and the Eye of Agamotto, Harry held two Infinity Stones—Space and Time.
With both Stones, plus the all-purpose nature of chaos magic, he might be able to raise his mastery of space and time magic by a huge margin.
In the past, because his magic had been extremely unstable, Harry always held back when it came to time magic and didn't dare to dig too deeply.
But now things were different. His magic had stabilized, and with the Time Stone in hand, he could finally throw himself fully into researching time magic.
Maybe in the near future, he could recreate miracles that belonged to rule-bound worlds—like stopping time…
That day, Gwen lounged lazily in Harry's arms as the two of them watched projected images of other dimensions.
The scenes weren't the same old orderly, rule-locked worlds from before, but other worlds Harry had discovered.
The first was a parallel universe in the multiverse. That world had its own Tony, Thor, and the others—but there was no Harry, and there was also a group called mutants.
And one mutant in particular fascinated Harry: Mystique.
She could transform into other people—so perfectly that even any part of her body could be fully replicated.
Chaos magic could evolve into anything, and of course it could simulate anything.
Maybe he could use chaos magic to develop a true transformation spell—like an advanced version of Polyjuice Potion.
But before he could even research it properly, Harry ran into a big problem.
Other than the magic she'd gained from the Web of Destiny, Gwen's talent for other magic was honestly painful to look at. Even something as basic as telekinesis, after grueling practice, only got her to low-level telekinesis.
So how was he supposed to get her to master at least intermediate-level transfiguration?
Wait—maybe he could combine potions and magic and directly grant someone an instinctive ability to transform.
Harry suddenly realized that if you could freely modify potion formulas, the potion path would become the ultimate utility toolbox.
A moment later, Harry adjusted the projection magic—channel surfing to a different world.
He'd only recently discovered this second world, and there was a boy there who caught his interest.
His name was Lu Mingfei, a high school student. Harry felt Lu Mingfei's childhood experiences were eerily similar to his own. (TN: from Dragon Raja)
Living with relatives. Constant mishaps. Terrible luck.
And Lu Mingfei also seemed to possess some kind of strange, mysterious power.
It wasn't an exaggeration to say Lu Mingfei felt like another Harry.
What an absurdly wonderful coincidence.
In Lu Mingfei's world, extraordinary power existed as well.
What baffled Harry was that all of those extraordinary powers came from dragons.
Even weirder: tracing human extraordinary power back to its source, it also came from dragon blood.
What the hell was going on in that world?
Just imagining humans being ruled by glorified reptiles made Harry feel itchy all over. He decided he absolutely had to expand the loan business there.
Don't let the dragons get too arrogant. Humans should be the strongest.
Lu Mingfei—want a loan?
After making sure Gwen was satisfied, Harry opened a portal and left their cozy little home, arriving at the top floor of Stark Tower.
Given Harry and Tony's relationship, the top floor—previously wrecked beyond recognition—had already been fully restored.
When Harry stepped out of the portal, Tony was pressed close to Pepper, whispering in her ear.
After the Battle of New York, their relationship had taken another step forward.
The sudden portal and Harry's abrupt entrance startled them both, instantly killing the mood.
Tony shot Harry an annoyed look and said with dripping sarcasm, "Oh, I thought it was someone else. Isn't this the brand-new Sorcerer Supreme, Harry Potter?
What, being Sorcerer Supreme makes you so special? How many times has the owner of the room told you—call first before you show up next time, and you keep pretending you can't hear?
Sorcerer Supreme, huh? So impressive?"
Facing Tony's sarcasm, Harry didn't care at all. He nodded solemnly, dead serious.
"Sorry. Being Sorcerer Supreme really is impressive."
Tony: "…"
Fine. Fine. You win.
In a sour mood, Tony didn't want to chat and asked, "So what do you want, you busy bastard? Don't tell me you came just to see me and ruin my good day."
Since it was business, Harry got serious. He grinned brightly.
"Didn't I say I'd take you to the Crossroads Dimension? It's time."
After the Battle of New York, Harry had a lot of things he needed to handle in the Crossroads Dimension.
Like selling the hundreds of succubi in his pocket dimension to restock Kamar-Taj, buying new spellbooks, and so on.
And most importantly—spreading Mephisto's S&M video far and wide.
Tony had been curious about the Crossroads Dimension for a long time. Hearing they were going immediately, he perked up, excitement flashing across his face.
"When do we leave?"
After Tony said a quick goodbye to Pepper, Harry locked onto the Crossroads' coordinates and opened a portal—stepping into one of the multiverse's central hubs: the mysterious Crossroads Dimension.
