Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: My Back!

At that moment, a red-and-blue spider-suited "pajama baby" was swinging deftly on his webs, tracing smooth arcs across the sky.

In the blink of an eye, he landed steadily beside Harry. Even though Harry's face was currently shrouded in a constantly twisting haze of gray mist, hiding his true features, Peter still recognized him at first glance.

Standing at Harry's side, Peter stared in horror at the chaotic battlefield ahead.

The two huge, musclebound brutes were brawling like madmen, wrecking everything in their path.

Taking in the devastation, Peter was full of confusion and blurted to Harry, "Harry, why don't you pull them into the Mirror Dimension? That way they won't keep destroying everything."

Harry gave the noisy little spider a sidelong glance and answered unhurriedly, helping him out, "Hey, relax, Spidey. Everything's under my control. From the moment I arrived, no more innocents have been hurt.

"I've got a very special spell up my sleeve. Afterwards, all these damaged buildings and streets can be restored to the way they were. So you really don't need to worry about the city.

"Besides, those two are military test subjects to begin with. They always think they can control everything and recklessly run these dangerous experiments. If no one teaches them a lesson, they'll just keep making more trouble like this.

"Take this mess as a warning for the military and the government, a reminder for them to behave."

Peter had been wearing a look of panic, but as soon as he heard Harry's explanation, his tense nerves immediately relaxed; the heart stuck in his throat dropped back into place.

"Wow, so that's how it is! Harry, I knew it—so long as you're here, no matter how nasty things get, you've got it handled. That's so you!"

Meanwhile, Hulk and Abomination were still locked in a fierce battle, their moving frontline slowly pushing toward the scattering crowds.

To keep the two rampaging monsters from breaking into the fleeing people and causing even more casualties, Harry decided it was time to step in and put an end to the disaster.

Before he moved, he warned Peter, "Peter, I'm going in to restrain Hulk and Abomination. You stay back and don't get caught in the crossfire."

Peter, of course, didn't like the sound of that. Ever since he'd gotten his spider powers, he'd felt reborn. The surge in strength had filled him with confidence; he was no longer that ordinary, weak boy from before.

His eyes burned with stubbornness and unwillingness as he shouted back, "No, I'm fighting with you. We're brothers—I'm not letting you take this risk alone!"

Harry's expression turned a bit odd. Peter really did want to help; he couldn't just say, "You're too weak and will only drag me down."

And he definitely couldn't say, "This battle isn't risky for me, but it is for you."

If he said that out loud, how badly would that bruise his brother's heart?

After seriously thinking it over, he concluded that even if Peter couldn't beat either monster, as long as he was careful he at least wouldn't evaporate the moment the teamfight started like some paper-thin ADC.

So Harry nodded and warned him solemnly, "All right—but be careful. Whatever you do, don't take them head-on."

"Don't worry, Harry, I've got this. I won't go crazy," Peter said, thumping his chest, brimming with confidence.

Watching Peter swear up and down, Harry's mouth twitched. A vague sense of unease crept over him. For some reason, he felt Peter was getting less and less reliable.

But things had come this far; he didn't have the luxury of hesitating. Harry drew a deep breath, wrapped himself in crackling currents of electricity, and cast a Current Reinforcement on Peter to boost his strength and reflexes.

Peter felt a rush of heat rampage through his body, his limbs and bones filling with new vitality. Power surged up from deep within his muscles.

He was so excited his face flushed red, his eyes went wide and round, and his mouth formed an "O" as he couldn't help exclaiming:

"Oh my god, what kind of magic is this? I feel like I can punch a truck in half right now! Whatever other tricks you've got, just use them, I can take it!"

Black lines practically popped up on Harry's forehead. He was speechless. Peter wasn't usually this talkative—how did putting on the mask turn him into a chatterbox?

"Shut up and focus," Harry snapped. "We've got work to do."

Harry moved to a spot not far from the Hulk–Abomination slugfest and took out a chunk of irregular Uru metal. The currents surging around him poured madly into the metal, arcs of blinding electricity writhing and crossing over its surface with sharp, crackling pops.

In an instant, the Uru metal wrapped in raging lightning shot out like a burning meteor, ripping through the air.

In the multiverse, the magic Harry could control in his body was three times what he had in the wizarding world, so the Super Electromagnetic Cannon was already several times stronger here than there.

And this time he'd even charged it up in advance—this shot was on a whole other level.

The air tore open in its wake, and the surrounding space seemed to twist and shudder under the impact. Everything in its path was crushed and torn apart by the overwhelming energy.

Having experienced the previous attack, Abomination was clearly prepared. When he realized the Super Electromagnetic Cannon was too fast to dodge, he crossed his arms in front of his chest, bracing himself to block the terrifying blow.

Boom!

The deafening explosion rocked the air itself, making it seem to warp.

Under the impact of that monstrous force, Abomination was like a leaf snatched up by a gale, instantly blown away with no ability to resist.

His body turned into a cannonball, smashing through a thick wall. The structure collapsed on impact, bricks and stone flying everywhere.

He then plunged headfirst into the ruins of the building, sending up a rolling cloud of dust.

When the dust thinned a little, Abomination lay there in a sorry heap. From the parts of his body visible outside the debris, his condition was horrific.

Both his arms were twisted at unnatural angles, clearly broken and hanging limp at his sides.

The skin all over his body was scorched black in multiple places by the Super Electromagnetic Cannon's heat. His hide was torn open, split into ghastly cracks like charred paper.

Even worse, chunks of exposed organs and bone jutted out into the air, reeking so strongly it made one's stomach churn.

Green blood poured out of him like water from a burst dam, quickly pooling on the ground and forming a puddle that gleamed with an eerie sheen.

And yet, despite being mangled like this, Harry's sharp senses told him Abomination's life force hadn't dropped at all.

Any one of those injuries alone would have been enough to kill an ordinary human instantly, but for Abomination, it was nothing more than a flesh wound.

His massive frame slowly pushed itself upright, and as he rose, the grotesque injuries across his body began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Organs and bones that had been exposed moments ago were covered again by fresh flesh. The blackened hide faded back to its original yellow-green, and even his broken arms snapped and clicked back into place and mended in a few seconds, as if that brutal attack had been nothing more than a passing illusion.

And Harry had charged that shot.

Yet even a blast of that terrifying power hadn't been able to truly damage Abomination. This monster was insanely tough.

Just as Harry was shifting tactics and considering whether the creature's spiritual defenses might be weak—maybe it would be better to use soul magic on him—he caught a familiar silhouette out of the corner of his eye.

He jerked his head around to see Peter swinging in on his webs from up high, arcing rapidly toward Abomination.

Peter's eyes were shining. As he swung agilely through the air on his webs, he yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice brimming with unrestrained confidence:

"Harry, this guy's not that scary. He's already hurt—let me finish the job!"

But before his punch could land on Abomination's face, the monster moved as if he'd predicted Peter's intentions.

Abomination's thick, tree-trunk arms whipped around. His fist, the size of a cooking pot and packed with crushing force, blasted toward Peter like a shell from an artillery cannon.

Peter didn't even have time to react before the blow hit him square on. His body turned into a kite with its string cut, thrown helplessly backward as he traced a long arc through the air and then slammed hard into a wall.

The impact plastered him against it like a flattened poster. His limbs dangled weakly, and he didn't move for a long moment.

That one punch from Abomination had knocked all the bravado out of him. The confidence on Peter's face was wiped away and replaced entirely by pain as he screamed:

"Oh, Harry, help me! My back, my back!"
