Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Lightning Blossoms at His Fingertips!

The instant the flames came roaring toward him, Harry snapped his wand up without hesitation.

"Electromagnetic Barrier!"

A transparent shield shimmered into being around him, tinted faintly blue. Tiny threads of electricity crackled and danced across its surface, letting out a sharp, constant crackling sound.

Intermediate spell—Electromagnetic Barrier.

By using a spell array to generate and stabilise a huge number of electric charges, it created a powerful, regularly distributed electric and magnetic field to block outside attacks.

Whenever an object or burst of energy hit it, it would interact with that electromagnetic field. Relying on that principle, the Electromagnetic Barrier possessed tremendous defensive power.

The blazing fire-dragon crashed down, and the moment the surging wall of fire met the barrier, it was as if it had slammed into an invisible wall.

The flames were twisted and compressed by the powerful electromagnetic force. Their wild momentum was forcibly halted; the front edge of the fire rolled and writhed, its shape constantly distorting until, under the mounting pressure, it slowly guttered out.

Harry, wrapped in shining electricity, wasn't affected by the sparks at all. He looked like a thunder god who commanded lightning, confident and flamboyant.

The students below cried out in amazement.

"What kind of magic is that? It looks incredible!"

"I've never seen it either. Could it be a new spell Potter invented himself?"

"It has to be. Potter just came up with two new potion recipes—of course it makes sense he could invent new magic too!"

Quirrell had assumed Harry was just some snot-nosed brat he could swat aside without effort. He hadn't expected his full-power attack to be blocked so easily.

He had no desire to see Harry admired by everyone. What he wanted was to see Harry beaten to the ground, kneeling and howling in misery under his feet.

The veins on his forehead bulged like twisted worms. He immediately slashed his wand again.

"Bone-Shattering Curse!"

The ceiling above them exploded, chunks of stone tearing free and crashing straight down toward Harry.

Judging from Harry's previous display, Quirrell knew this alone wasn't enough to break his defences, so he started chanting again at once.

"Stupefy!"

With one attack coming from above and one from the front, Harry knew that if both spells hit full-on, the prototype Electromagnetic Barrier wouldn't be able to hold them completely.

He directed the barrier upward, catching and stopping the falling ceiling, then condensed a second layer of Electromagnetic Barrier in front of him to block the Stunning Spell. After that, he suddenly drew out a single Galleon.

The move left the watching students baffled. They had no idea why he'd take out a Galleon at a time like this.

At first, when he saw Harry reaching into his pocket, Quirrell's heart clenched. He thought Harry was about to pull out some powerful potion to turn the tide and nervously swallowed.

But when Harry's hand emerged and there was nothing in his palm but a single gold Galleon, Quirrell froze for a moment—then burst into shrill, derisive laughter.

"Ha ha ha ha! Potter, are you planning to throw coins at me? Or are you going to try to bribe me so your loss looks prettier? So this is all the so-called Savior amounts to!"

Ron's eyes went wide, his face full of confusion as he muttered, "You can't use a Galleon as a weapon… Has Harry panicked and grabbed the wrong thing?"

Hermione shot him a fierce glare. She trusted Harry completely. Her voice was soft but absolutely firm.

"Harry's not the kind of person who falls apart at a crucial moment. If he took out a Galleon, he definitely has a reason."

Ron didn't see it that way. He grumbled under his breath, "Sure, but what can a Galleon even do?"

Hermione gave him one last exasperated look and ignored him. She believed in Harry—though she had no idea what he planned to do with that coin.

But there was no need to worry. She'd find out soon enough.

Harry balanced the Galleon on his palm, then tossed it lightly into the air under a storm of confused and worried stares.

As the Galleon slowed and began to drop under its own weight, Harry said confidently,

"Quirrell, this is a new spell I've been working on. Let's end our duel with it, shall we?"

In that instant, the currents of electricity wrapped around him streamed toward the Galleon. The tiny arcs of lightning slithered over its surface like living snakes, coiling and weaving until they formed a layer of dazzling blue radiance.

Harry swung his wand up; the tip met the falling coin precisely.

The next moment, within the powerful electromagnetic field, the Galleon seemed to come alive. It became wrapped in overwhelming electromagnetic force and hurtled toward Quirrell at a speed beyond imagination!

The coin had become the projectile of a railgun. As it tore through the air, it carved out a visible path of distorted air through sheer friction, screaming with a high-pitched whistle.

Quirrell's face turned chalk-white. His eyes bulged with terror.

The railgun shot was far too fast to dodge. With no way to get out of the way, he could only throw up defences in panic—so much so that even his master lent him his own magic to use.

There was no time to speak incantations. Quirrell depended on wandless magic, snapping up layer after layer of protection in an instant.

Layered Barriers!

Fortress Ramparts!

Adamant Armor!

And finally, a mass of thick stone bulwarks conjured by Transfiguration!

The railgun round, wrapped in world-shattering electromagnetic force, slammed into Quirrell's shields.

With a sharp crack, the first barrier shattered instantly. The projectile slowed slightly from the impact, but its momentum didn't fade in the slightest. It just kept driving forward.

The second shield vanished just as quickly; the third and fourth fell in the same instant.

In a heartbeat, the railgun shot punched through every layer of defence and crashed into Quirrell himself.

But after piercing all those defences, and under Harry's control, the railgun didn't bore a hole straight through Quirrell's body. Instead, he dispersed the remaining force evenly across Quirrell's entire body so it wouldn't kill him outright.

Even so, the sheer impact flung Quirrell into the classroom wall with bone-crunching violence. The rapid crack of breaking bones sounded like a string of firecrackers. He then slid limply to the floor, his condition unknown.

The moment Quirrell struck the ground with a heavy thud, the classroom fell into dead silence. Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events, too shocked to react. It was as if they couldn't quite believe what they had just seen.

Hermione was the first to snap out of it. Her face flushed bright red with excitement, her eyes shining as she jumped to her feet and shouted joyfully,

"Harry, you did it! That was amazing!"

Ron's jaw hung open as he stared in place for several seconds before he managed to stammer,

"I–I knew you'd win. That was… That was so cool!"

After Ron, the other students slowly came back to themselves. The classroom erupted into a deafening storm of cheers and applause. They rushed forward and surrounded Harry, lifting him up in celebration of the Savior who had defeated the evil Professor Quirrell.

"Harry, you were incredible!"

"That was the most spectacular duel I've ever seen—Harry, you're our hero!"

"Harry, even a professor isn't your match. You're definitely going to be the greatest wizard in history!"

Everyone was happy. Everyone was thrilled—except Quirrell.

But they had all forgotten him. In the end, he was just the clown on the stage.
