Chapter 106 - Bocchi Line Up Behind the Dog

The two whispered a few more sentences of negotiation, then glanced around vigilantly before leaving the corridor.

Only after they had walked far away did Kanzaki Saku step out from behind the wall, wearing a smile that wasn't quite a smile.

Yuigahama and the long-lost Kikyou.

Yuigahama Yui—he used to think she was just a 'cringe woman' with some petty thoughts, but he hadn't expected her ambition and drive to be so significant. To think she actually wanted to unite with people from the Kato Legion and stage a grand drama at the Battle of the Hundred Clubs.

Kushida Kikyou was the same; having been scared out of her wits, she was now desperate enough to turn to any doctor in an emergency, daring to board any ship available.

"The Battle of the Hundred Clubs, huh..." Kanzaki Saku stroked his chin, beginning to look forward to it.

He had originally thought it was just an ordinary school activity, but he hadn't expected it to turn into an unknown stage brewing with conspiracy.

Yukino was still kept in the dark, and Megumi Kato of the Kato Legion most likely had absolutely no idea what her subordinates were plotting either.

And although Kanzaki Saku knew everything, it was impossible for him to actively inform them.

Next week's Battle of the Hundred Clubs might just usher in a great change for the delinquent world.

Speaking of clubs, Kanzaki Saku remembered something. He had previously filled in his own name on Bocchi-chan's club application form. He wondered how the situation was now.

Taking out his phone, he was just about to contact Bocchi-chan to ask, only to discover that she had sent him a message a few minutes ago.

Guitar Hero: "Are you there?"

Seeing this message, for some reason, a phrase came to Kanzaki Saku's mind.

Starting with 'Are you there?' makes you definitively a clown!

As for the fact that the 'clownish' Bocchi liked him, one could say that as long as you weren't blind, you could tell after spending some time with her.

Kanzaki Saku wasn't intentionally stringing Bocchi along; it was mainly that Gotoh Hitori's clownish, cringe-inducing behavior really made it hard to get excited.

She belonged to the category where even if she begged, she'd have to wait in line, and she'd have to queue behind the dog.

Why did Bocchi-chan send this message? Let's go back a few minutes.

In the teachers' office, Hiratsuka Shizuka handed a stamped club activity room application to Gotoh Hitori.

"Gotoh-san, your club application has been approved. The activity room is a bit old, but there's enough space."

Bocchi-chan naturally shared this good news with the others in the band immediately.

Soon, Ijichi Nijika sent a "That's great~" along with a gif of drumsticks hitting a drum. Yamada Ryo also replied with a string of "Congratulations!!!" and celebration stickers. Only Kita was lurking.

Under Nijika's proposal of "Then let's go see the activity room right now!", the four of them quickly assembled.

"Wah! It's much better than I imagined!" Ijichi Nijika walked in full of energy, looking around. "If we clean it up and move the instruments in, it'll definitely be a super awesome activity room!"

"Ah, there's dust." Yamada Ryo looked at her finger that had just touched the windowsill. From her brand-name small bag that looked expensive at a glance, she fished out a handkerchief printed with cute patterns and wiped her hand.

"Shall I have the butler find someone to clean it thoroughly tomorrow? And maybe do the soundproofing while we're at it?"

"Ryo, Ryo!" Ijichi Nijika hurriedly interrupted her. "No, no need to spend so much money! We can just clean it ourselves!"

Kita Ikuyo had already skillfully found a relatively clean corner, sliding down against the wall to sit, disguising herself as a corner-dwelling inspiration mushroom.

Bocchi-chan pulled that club application form out of her embrace, holding it up in front of her chest like displaying a medal, ready to claim credit.

"Everyone! This is our first step toward a great journey! Let me confirm it again..."

Her gaze swept over the form, and then she discovered that besides the faculty advisor Hiratsuka Shizuka's name, there was another name below it—one she was incredibly familiar with, but which absolutely shouldn't have appeared there.

This name was naturally Kanzaki Saku.

She blinked, suspecting that she was so excited she was seeing things. She brought the form right up to her eyes, almost pasting it onto her face to look.

She wasn't seeing things. It was indeed the three characters for "Kanzaki Saku". From her experience as Kanzaki Saku's desk mate, she could tell the handwriting was authentic.

But why did his name appear here? I get it, he has a crush on me!

Since Bocchi-chan got stuck halfway through speaking, Nijika actively leaned over to see what the reason was.

She moved closer, also discovering that extra name, and read it out: "Kanzaki... Saku?"

Hearing this name, Kita Ikuyo stopped being a mushroom and leaned over as well.

Yamada Ryo tilted her head, her blue short hair swaying gently with the movement. "Kanzaki Saku? Who?"

"He's my classmate! And my friend!" Bocchi-chan immediately announced loudly, puffing out her chest proudly.

"A very, very excellent, very, very gentle, very, very handsome boy! He must have a crush on me, and seeing the application form I filled out, he actively joined!"

Nijika knew that Gotoh Hitori was a very abstract and unreliable person, so she immediately looked at Bocchi-chan with a skeptical gaze. "Really? You didn't forcibly write his name on it?"

Kita nodded in agreement. The Kanzaki Saku she knew didn't seem like the type to like Gotoh Hitori; he clearly cared more about her, okay?

Hearing Nijika say this, Gotoh Hitori wasn't happy.

"What are you saying?! How could I do something like that! I'm quite popular in class! It's perfectly normal for Kanzaki to like a woman like me, okay!"

"He must have been in the classroom, realized I was filling out the form, and secretly wrote it on himself while I wasn't paying attention. This proves even more that he's interested in me."

Nijika narrowed her eyes. Although someone as clownish as this could bring a lot of joy, being able to hold back from exposing her when she was posturing like this made one a saint.

Anyway, she didn't believe that someone liked a person like Gotoh Hitori. You might as well say that Kanzaki Saku wasn't picky at all and would like anyone as long as they were female.

"Really? If it's true, how come we've never heard you mention him?"

"T-That's because he's shy!" Bocchi-chan's speech speed increased, and her face started to flush red. "You guys don't understand! Boys are just like that—clearly liking someone but not daring to express it, only watching silently!"

Yamada Ryo interjected at this moment: "So he likes you enough to secretly fill out a club application form, but not enough to actively confess?"

"Exactly!" Bocchi-chan nodded vigorously, getting more worked up as she spoke. "Mainly because he's too popular in class! So many girls like him, he definitely doesn't want to make me a target. He's doing it for my own good!"

"Actually, in private, he only takes special care of me!"

She began counting on her fingers: "For example... for example, he helps me pick up erasers I drop on the floor! Also, also, last week in math class when I dozed off, he helped block the teacher's line of sight for me!"

Nijika spoke expressionlessly: "Those sound like things an ordinary classmate would do, right?"

"They are not!" Bocchi-chan got anxious. "You guys don't know, Kanzaki-kun is actually super aloof! He ignores all the other girls; only to me is he this gentle!"
