"The strongest?"
After listening to El's words, Carina stared at him in disbelief.
"Even you, Nii-san… you're saying you're not Nami's opponent anymore? Is the power of a Devil Fruit really that ridiculous?"
Kuina was just as shocked.
They had already seen with their own eyes how strong El was.
On their ship, even sea beasts bigger than their vessel weren't his opponents.
His ten-meter flying slash—so far, no pirate had been able to block it head-on.
And now… Nami surpassed that with just a single bite of a fruit?
Were the legendary treasures of the sea really that exaggerated?
"You're joking, right? There's no way I could beat you, Nii-san!" Nami yelped, waving her hands frantically.
"Looks like it's time to properly explain Devil Fruits to you."
El walked toward Nami, resting one hand on the hilt of his sword.
"According to the memories I've read from the pirates we've caught…"
"Devil Fruits are divided into three main types: Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan."
"Among them, Zoan are the simplest—mostly about transforming into animals. Paramecia are the most varied and tricky. And Logia are the rarest, and generally acknowledged as the strongest of the three."
"The reason Logia are considered the strongest is that their powers cover a wide range of abilities, and they come with one ability that's almost impossible to deal with."
"That ability is—"
Before he finished that sentence, El suddenly drew his sword in front of the three girls.
A flash of cold light—and his blade cleaved Nami straight down from head to toe.
"WHAT!!!"
Carina and Kuina both screamed.
Even with their strong mental toughness, that sudden slash was enough to scare the life out of them.
But before they could say anything else, what happened next froze their words in their throats.
The Nami who had just been cut in two—
The cut surfaces of her body showed no blood, no exposed organs.
Instead, the insides of both halves were covered in writhing orange flame.
And those flames flickered like magnets snapping together, pulling both halves of her body back into one.
As soon as her body rejoined, the flames vanished.
Nami stood there completely intact.
No wound. No scar.
Even her clothes weren't damaged in the slightest.
It was as if El's slash had never touched her at all.
In fact—it hadn't.
The moment El swung his sword, Nami's Logia ability had automatically triggered.
Her body had turned into fire.
Unless someone used Armament Haki, a Seastone weapon, or certain elemental counters, they couldn't hurt Nami's real body at all.
"Nii-san!! Why did you cut me just now?!"
Even if she hadn't felt any pain, the sight of that slash had scared the hell out of Nami.
As soon as her body reformed, she frantically patted herself all over, then puffed her cheeks out angrily and glared at El.
"Nii-san, what was that?!"
Carina stared blankly at El as well.
"This," El said, sliding his sword back into its sheath with a soft click, "is elementalization."
"Immune to all physical attacks. Other than elements that directly counter your attribute, Armament Haki, Seastone, and seawater, nothing physical can hurt Nami."
"That is the inherent ability of a Logia-type Devil Fruit."
"You've gotta be kidding me…"
Carina's eyes went round. She looked at Nami like she was seeing a mythical beast.
"So that means… as long as Nami doesn't encounter those specific weaknesses—she's basically invincible?"
"That's right," El replied, nodding.
"The secret treasure of the sea—no, the Logia-type Devil Fruits—they're way too broken, aren't they?!"
Carina's worldview had been shattered and rebuilt so many times recently that she was starting to lose count.
Kuina's and Nami's weren't in much better shape.
But soon, Carina's shock turned into excitement. She spun toward Nami, grabbed her hands, and said breathlessly:
"If you're invincible now, Nami, then those Fishmen don't stand a chance!"
"You can go back and turn the Arlong Pirates into grilled fish!"
"…Yeah."
Nami nodded, eyes trembling, and then tears started gathering again.
She suddenly threw herself at El and wrapped her arms around his waist, crying with relief.
"Nii-san… Thank you… Thank you for giving me something this precious…"
None of the three girls were fools.
On the contrary, all three of them were extremely bright.
From how fluently El had explained Devil Fruits, it wasn't hard to tell that he clearly understood their value—and especially how broken a Logia really was.
Just that one power—elementalization, the ability to ignore almost all physical attacks—was enough to make the value of the Mera Mera no Mi shoot through the sky.
If El had eaten it, then on top of already being a monster swordsman, he'd become even more terrifying.
But instead…
El hadn't taken a single bite.
He'd given that power to Nami.
Just so she could take revenge with her own hands.
That kind of generosity didn't just move Nami—it shook Carina and Kuina as well.
In that moment, all three of them felt the same thing:
This was a captain they could follow for the rest of their lives.
"Hehe… If you want to repay me," El said, hugging Nami back and gently rubbing her head, "then use that power to protect us well."
"Mm…!"
Nami nodded so hard she bumped his chin.
After spending a while wiping all her tears on El's robe, she finally stepped back out of his arms.
Her beautiful eyes seemed to be reflecting orange flames as she looked up at him, face full of determination.
"Nii-san… I'll definitely become your most trusted wing!"
"I'm looking forward to it," El replied with a smile.
And so—
Their long, grueling search on Sixis Island ended in complete success.
