Loguetown—known as "the town of the beginning and the end"—sat near the entrance to the Grand Line, on the East Blue side of Reverse Mountain.
As one of the four islands near the entrance, it wasn't just one of the most prosperous towns in East Blue.
Right now, it was also one of the most chaotic.
Yes…
At this point in time, Loguetown was the most unruly place in the entire East Blue.
Why did the East Blue even have a "real-time ranking of pirates everyone wants gone"?
Why were there so many so-called "big pirates" with bounties over ten million?
The reason was simple:
The patron saint of Loguetown hadn't arrived yet.
As the place where the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, was both born and executed, and sitting just before the Grand Line, Loguetown had become a holy land for East Blue pirates—like a tourist trap in El's previous world.
So before Marine Headquarters assigned a Logia user here, even though there was already a Marine branch in town, pirates still caused trouble constantly.
"...What a huge port. It really is one of the richest towns in East Blue."
After several days of sailing, their ship finally arrived at Loguetown's harbor.
Looking at the forest of white buildings, the crowds, and the countless ships moored at the docks, Nami—here for the first time—couldn't help but gasp in awe.
"As soon as we land, stay close to me."
El's expression tightened slightly as the island drew nearer.
"There's a lot of trash here. If you get separated, someone will try to kidnap you the moment they think they can get away with it."
"Got it, Nii-san."
Carina and Nami answered in unison.
Kuina also nodded quietly.
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she held the sword in her arms out to him.
"El, your weapon broke when you fought my father. Until you buy a new sword, use mine."
"Alright. I'll borrow it for now."
El didn't reject the offer.
He took the sword and, almost by reflex, drew it halfway from its sheath.
Wado Ichimonji didn't have the elaborate decoration other famous blades flaunted. At a glance, it was almost plain—simple guard, simple hilt, clean white sheath.
But as a swordsman, El could feel it.
Beneath that simplicity, the edge was terrifyingly sharp—its power hidden deep.
"As expected of one of the 'Twenty-One Great Grade Swords,'" El murmured, then slid the blade back into its sheath.
He'd never cared much about his weapon before. To him, a sword was a sword.
But the moment he held a true named blade, he finally understood just how big the gap was between an ordinary sword and a famous one.
It wasn't just appearances—the quality itself was on a whole different level.
In the original story, when Zoro challenged Hawkeye, his final attack had crossed blades with Mihawk's black sword.
The result?
Aside from Wado Ichimonji, the other two ordinary swords shattered instantly.
Without Armament Haki, clashing an ordinary blade against a true named sword was almost suicide for the weapon.
After holding Kuina's sword, El finally formed a proper desire:
He wanted a famous sword of his own.
And if his memory was right, at around this time, out on the Grand Line, there were two blades whose rank wasn't far off from the Supreme Grade Swords themselves.
Before hunting those down, he'd settle for a solid, standard famous sword.
He slid his own broken weapon free, set it aside, and tucked Wado Ichimonji into his belt.
El looked up at Loguetown's skyline, thoughts already turning toward the blades he knew were waiting in this town.
Once their small sailing ship docked, the four of them went ashore without carrying anything.
They were all too aware of the drawbacks of a tiny boat.
They had made it a rule never to leave treasure on board.
Every time they made a big profit, they deposited it directly into the bank. On hand, they carried only a small amount of cash—just enough to use on whatever island they were currently visiting.
So there was nothing they needed to guard on the ship.
After stepping onto the dock, they bought a map of Loguetown from a stall, then headed straight for the nearest bank.
As one of the richest islands in the East Blue—even though it wasn't the capital of any affiliated kingdom—Loguetown had everything:
Banks and hospitals
A proper shipyard
Weapon shops and markets
And more than enough pirates, bounty hunters, and weirdos to keep life interesting.
After withdrawing a comfortable amount of funds, the four made their way to the shipyard.
Money opened doors, no matter how old you looked.
Even though they were clearly children, the workers didn't dare treat them as a joke once they saw just how casually El handled the stacks of Berries.
After explaining his requirements, El and the others were personally received by the shipyard manager and a designer.
From the way the manager immediately called for a proper shipwright, it was obvious:
El's request was for a custom ship.
Yes—custom-built.
As the saying went: "Today is not like yesterday."
Over just a bit more than a month, El hadn't expected how easily money would pile up when his strength, Nami's navigation, and Carina's brains worked together.
The heads of those big pirates were just waiting to be taken.
By reading their memories, El could find their hidden treasure stashes, loot everything they'd accumulated over the years, and finish each hunt with a ridiculous haul.
Just from killing four targets, his personal savings had already climbed to nearly one hundred million Berries.
Nami and Carina's private stashes were also closing in on ten million each.
A hundred million Berries—in this era, before inflation really kicked in—could accomplish a lot.
After all, Nami's deal with Arlong was for just that amount.
With that context, El's custom ship—roughly on the scale of the future Straw Hats' Going Merry—wasn't actually that expensive.
From the hearts of the manager and designer, El knew:
It would cost no more than 30 million Berries.
After some spirited haggling, they settled on a final total of 33.65 million.
El paid one-third up front as a deposit, then left the shipyard with the three girls, heading toward Loguetown's central street.
The ship situation was settled.
Next on the list:
A new sword.
If his memory was correct, there were two particular blades in a certain Loguetown weapon shop during this period:
One Skillful Grade Sword (Ryō Wazamono).
And one cursed blade.
Yubashiri and Sandai Kitetsu.
And El was planning to meet them both.
