Chapter 61 - Telling Hiyori a Horror Story

There was still some time before evening, so Shikime Natsu returned to the dorm to grab his book, and then went out to the library.

He was going to see the little angel Shiina!

With a relaxed and happy mood, Shikime Natsu arrived at the library and happened to see the girl reading a book. While reading, the girl appeared exceptionally quiet, a faint smile on her calm face.

Hmm, even though she was reading a mystery-suspense novel, the girl's brows did not furrow, and the expression on her face didn't change much. Perhaps the girl was re-reading a book she had read countless times before; even if she knew the plot of the mystery novel, she could still read it with relish.

Shikime Natsu didn't speak either. Of course, this was a library; if he made too much noise, it would attract a lot of attention. At least, Shikime Natsu didn't want to see that "you're being a nuisance" look from others.

Soon, Shikime Natsu walked over to stand in front of Shiina Hiyori. Sensing someone approaching, Shiina Hiyori looked up slightly. When she discovered the arrival was Shikime Natsu, a flicker of delight flashed in her purple eyes.

Shikime Natsu hadn't been to the library for two days. To be honest, Shiina Hiyori was a little disappointed. After all, she had finally found a book buddy she could communicate with.

"I've been a bit busy these past two days. I've finished this book."

Shikime Natsu placed the book Shiina Hiyori recommended to him on the table to the side. Of course, Shikime Natsu had already completed the return record when he came in.

"Mm-hmm."

Shiina Hiyori nodded with a shallow smile on her face.

"Let's go to the discussion room."

Shiina Hiyori picked up the books and stood up. There were two books; one was what Shiina Hiyori was reading herself, and the other... was she planning to recommend it to him?

Following Shiina Hiyori to the discussion room, it was just him and Shiina Hiyori there. It felt almost like a small world for the two of them.

"Did Shiki-san finish that book? What are your thoughts?"

Shiina Hiyori put down the book in her hands, clasped her small hands together, and looked at Shikime Natsu with a very expectant gaze.

Being looked at like this, if he said something like "I didn't read it at all," he would definitely feel very guilty.

"I finished it..."

Since Shikime Natsu decided to come see Shiina Hiyori, naturally he was prepared. Not only did he finish it, but he also summarized his own views. There was absolutely no problem.

As expected, after hearing Shikime Natsu's thoughts, Shiina Hiyori revealed an obvious smile. Then she happily exchanged her own views on the book with Shikime Natsu.

Having someone with the same hobbies is a very lucky thing.

Shikime Natsu could feel that the girl really, truly liked reading books.

"Does Shiina-san have any other books to recommend? I find that my reading tastes are quite similar to Shiina-san's."

"Yes, I do. I recommend this one."

Shiina Hiyori quickly picked up a book to recommend to Shikime Natsu. Actually... this book was originally intended to be given to Shikime Natsu yesterday.

It's just that Shikime Natsu didn't come yesterday, so the girl had to put away the book and the anticipation of giving the book to Shikime Natsu. Although she had his contact info, the girl didn't want to disturb him too much.

Perhaps having heard the girl's wish, Shikime Natsu actually came to the library again today.

Shiina Hiyori was also quite glad she hadn't been reading in the discussion room, but instead chose a more conspicuous spot. That way, Shikime Natsu could see her as soon as he walked in.

"Okay, thank you, Shiina-san."

Shikime Natsu nodded and accepted the book Shiina Hiyori recommended to him.

"I'm very happy that Shiki-san likes the books I recommend!"

Shiina Hiyori's smile was extremely healing. An angel, this is definitely an angel!

"Shiina-san has read so many mystery and suspense novels, you must also be interested in horror novels, right?"

"Horror novels? I don't think I've read many of those."

The novels Shiina Hiyori read, strictly speaking, definitely couldn't be counted as horror.

"Then let me tell Shiina-san a relatively short horror story."

Shikime Natsu seemed quite interested.

"Mm, please do."

Shiina Hiyori smiled and nodded, showing no sign of resistance on her face.

"One night, a strange phone call came in..."

Shikime Natsu deliberately lowered his voice. Unfortunately, he hadn't obtained the talent for telling horror stories yet, so there was no sense of atmosphere at all.

That skill might seem useless, but who knows when it might come in handy? Just like this time.

Anyway, Shikime Natsu didn't have a limit on skill slots. What Shikime Natsu hoped for most was to become an all-around master.

"When the call was answered, a groaning sound was heard."

"After hanging up in a panic, the other party never called back."

Shiina Hiyori's little expression became somewhat serious at this point. It sounded like it would be a horror story about a phone call. When listening to horror stories, one's attention is always heightened. Whether they found it not scary or scary, their attention would definitely be focused on the story.

"But because I was too concerned, I tried calling back."

Hearing this, Shiina Hiyori was greatly confused. In this situation, is calling back really the right thing to do?

Hmm... this is based on it being a horror story, so this is the normal judgment Shiina Hiyori made. If she didn't know it was a horror story, Shiina Hiyori felt it was possibly someone's prank.

"Then... after the call connected, there was no sound at all."

"But..."

But what?

Shiina Hiyori became even more focused. Would it be something scary? However, having read so many mystery novels, Shiina Hiyori had a certain immunity to general horror atmospheres. Right now, Shiina Hiyori didn't feel much fear.

"For some reason, the phone bill was as high as ten thousand yen."

Shikime Natsu couldn't help but smile after saying this last sentence.

Hearing this, Shiina Hiyori's little eyes were clearly stunned for a moment. This story was indeed a bit unexpected.

"Fictitious billing is indeed quite terrifying too."

Shiina Hiyori was amused by Shikime Natsu's story. It was quite reasonable. He said it was a horror story, but he didn't say it was a story with a horror atmosphere. This kind of telecom fraud is also quite terrifying.

Having 100,000 yen deducted without realizing it... hmm, very terrifying.

"Haha, right?"

Shikime Natsu looked at Shiina Hiyori's smile with great satisfaction. This was exactly the effect he wanted.

"Next time, I'll tell Shiki-san a horror story too."

Shiina Hiyori picked up her book and looked at Shikime Natsu.

"Mm, I'm looking forward to it."

Shikime Natsu smiled and nodded. This skill was quite good too; after graduation, he wouldn't have to worry about money problems.

"It's time to get ready for dinner. Would Shiki-san like to join me? It's my treat this time~"

Shiina Hiyori clearly remembered the last time Shikime Natsu treated her to a meal and had been wanting to return the favor.

"Then I won't be polite."

Shikime Natsu naturally accepted generously. If he made the girl feel bad, she might not let him treat her next time.

"Mm, go ahead and choose whatever Shiki-san likes to eat~"
