Luo Xing was very excited about it.
During the Dressrosa trip he'd made hundreds of billions of Berries, so money was no concern. He brought a huge supply of raw materials into his lab and produced a hundred pairs of Fusion Earrings before emerging.
Luo Xing's inventions had become the most watched matter inside the Beasts Pirates. So when word spread that Luo Xing had come out, Kaido rushed over himself, barely able to contain his impatience.
"Son-in-law, what did you invent this time?" Kaido rubbed his huge hands together, his round eyes like a child's, excited and curious.
No wonder Kaido looked that way — every one of Luo Xing's inventions stunned the world: Mutant Cells, Senzu Beans, the Gravity Training Room — each was an epochal device that could destabilize the world. The Disasters — Enma (flame), Queen (disease), Jack (drought) and the rest — crowded around Luo Xing like curious children, staring wide-eyed.
Luo Xing didn't keep it secret. He took out one pair of Fusion Earrings and smiled, "This. Earrings that let two people fuse."
"Fu… fuse?!" Even with preparation, Kaido shouted in shock.
Queen couldn't help picking up the earring, inspecting it and muttering, "It just looks like an ordinary earring. How could it… make two living people fuse?" He couldn't imagine the scene.
"Then try it," Luo Xing said. He knew people wouldn't believe it until they saw it.
"I'll fuse with Jin?" Queen jumped up and waved his hand in disgust. "No way I'm fusing with that bird man!"
(炎灾烬 — here translated as Jin / Enji; the text has 烬, rendered as "Jin" or "Enju" — I'll keep it as Jin.)
Enflame Jin coldly replied, "I'm not fusing with you, Queen, you fat lizard." The two top officers normally despised each other, so getting them to cooperate was harder than climbing the sky.
Luo Xing sighed and said, "If there's zero mutual coordination, even if fusion happens it might only last a few seconds. Fine — Queen, fuse with Jack instead."
Jack — the drought Disaster — was brash and stubborn outside, but obedient within the Beasts. He respected the Disasters and Kaido and Luo Xing, so he agreed easily. Queen still looked disdainful at first but consented: "Alright, I'll try with Jack."
Queen handed one earring to Jack, and each put theirs on opposite ears as instructed by Luo Xing. Kaido, Enflame Jin, and the whole crew watched closely, not wanting to miss a detail.
A strange sight occurred. The two who wore the earrings began to move toward each other by themselves. A blinding flash erupted. A towering, massive figure dozens of meters high appeared! In front of that giant, even Kaido — over seven meters tall — looked small.
Many swallowed hard. Flying Six member Sasaki said in a daze, "It's like something out of a fairy tale." He studied the giant's shape: limbs thicker than a tree, muscles like small mountains. The left arm was mechanical — Queen's mark. Two long tusks sprouted from the back of the head — Jack's mark. A terrifying, primal aura emanated; even Sasaki — who had eaten a high-level Mutant Cell — felt a chill.
Kaido clicked his tongue in wonder and stepped forward. "This body's nearly twice my size. I'll punch it to test."
The fused giant quickly replied, "No, Lord Kaido — though we feel stronger than ever, we still can't match you, sir!"
Even fused, they wouldn't truly rival Kaido; a test punch could be lethal. Luo Xing stopped Kaido: "Father-in-law, Jack and Queen are fusing for the first time and aren't skilled yet. Let's not."
Kaido relented.
Luo Xing told the giant to shift into a beast form. Jack is an Ancient Zoan mammoth type; Queen is an Ancient Zoan braced lizard (or ankylosaur/armored dinosaur) type. The fused giant inherited both ancient Zoan beast abilities.
The giant obeyed, its body growing even larger — in an instant it became hundreds of meters tall, nearly approaching Kaido's Azure Dragon form. Roars and trumpeting sounds issued forth; an even more overwhelming, savage aura spread across the island. Sasaki broke out in a cold sweat. The weaker Beasts Pirates actually trembled and struggled to stand.
Luo Xing was unshaken; his eyes shone with satisfaction as he looked at the enormous beast. Its hide was a thick, blue-red armor — even a blade wrapped in Armament Haki would find it difficult to tear. Its defense was terrifying.
Even more astonishing: the beast had two heads — a slender long-necked dinosaur head and a massive elephant head — clearly representing Queen and Jack. The sight was unprecedented. Even the well-seasoned Kaido gaped.
The two-headed titan moved, and the whole island shuddered. But when it prepared to act, the glow split and the two heads separated — the giant returned to Queen and Jack once more.
Luo Xing told them, "It's your first fusion — lasting a minute is already good. To lengthen the time, you must practice and improve your coordination."
Both nodded. The fusion had shown them an explosive increase in power; even Queen, who disliked Jack, craved that strength. Luo Xing estimated the fused giant's combat power reached near-Yonko level — enough to hold off a Yonko's main officers for a time.
Kaido, delighted at the hunt, asked Luo Xing, "Can I fuse with someone too?"
"Of course," Luo Xing replied. "But for Lord Kaido, the partner must also be Yonko-level. The best candidate would be Big Mom, Charlotte Linlin."
"What? Fuse with that old hag Linlin?!" Kaido bristled and roared, "I'd rather die!"
Luo Xing smirked inwardly. Kaido's posturing was obvious; Luo Xing didn't believe Kaido and Big Mom didn't have a past back in the Rocks era.
The Fusion Earrings' divine effect excited the whole Beasts crew. Luo Xing picked the two hundred strongest of the Zoan Corps and gave them one hundred pairs of earrings. He instructed them to train in triple-gravity rooms to quickly increase their coordination and extend fusion time.
Without doubt those two hundred would soon become a hundred fused dual-Zoan fruit users.
Luo Xing himself took a pair and went to Yamato. They trained together in the Time-Gravity Room. As husband and wife with deep rapport, their compatibility far exceeded Queen and Jack. Their first fusion lasted nearly five minutes. Yamato adored the earrings, clinging to Luo Xing's neck: "Husband, I felt so close to you — we truly became one!"
Luo Xing grinned: "Aren't there ways to get even closer?"
Yamato blushed and playfully punched him: "Husband, let's go beat up that old man!"
Yamato, now a general in Wano who had improved the people's lives, still nursed an obsession to best her father Kaido. Luo Xing could only smile helplessly.
While the pair trained and flirted, a gigantic flying island silently approached Wano…
