Six months after Rosa's birth, I discovered I was pregnant again.
I stared at the pregnancy test in the bathroom, my mind completely blank.
Pregnant. Again. Rosa was only six months old. Still not sleeping through the night. Still demanding constant attention. Still learning to sit up without falling over.
And now I was going to have another baby.
"Isabella?" Dante called from the bedroom. "Everything okay?"
I opened the door, holding up the test.
His eyes went wide. "Is that"
"Positive. I'm pregnant."
For a moment, neither of us spoke.
Then Dante started laughing. Full, genuine, slightly hysterical laughter.
"What's funny?" I demanded.
"We just survived the Syndicate war, six months of no sleep, and constant diaper changes. And now we're doing it all over again." He pulled me into his arms. "We're either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid."
"Can't it be both?"
"Definitely both."
