Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: Solving Gotham's Problems in One Night

"Mr. Patrick!"

Bruce, who had been picked up by Peter and landed, looked at the suddenly appearing Peter in shock.

"That was a good jump, Bruce, but the luck at the very end was a bit bad!"

Peter let go of Bruce. "But it's still good. You took the first step to confront your fear."

Bruce's heart pounded. The aftermath of his narrow escape left his head with an unreal sense of dizziness.

"Sir, why... did you come over?"

He asked, somewhat incredulous.

"If something happened to you, Bruce, my twenty thousand U.S. dollars and the bar would probably not be honored."

Peter ruffled Bruce's hair. "Don't forget, our deal isn't over yet."

Bruce knew Peter was joking with him. He touched his slightly sore nose and thanked Peter, "Thank you, sir. Our deal will always stand, no matter what happens."

"I believe your promise. Let's go. It's not safe here."

Peter said, while quickly leading Bruce away from the scene.

"Sir, what should we do next? Will you go back to Metropolis?"

Bruce asked, both anticipating and fearing.

"If I insisted on going back to Metropolis, you would definitely stay in Gotham, right?"

Peter led Bruce to a high-powered Harley Davidson motorcycle. Without waiting for Bruce's answer, he continued, "I'll be back in Metropolis before dawn. The time now is..."

He looked at his watch. "Ten o'clock and two minutes, which means we have less than eight hours, but one night's time is enough."

"Eight hours for what, sir?"

Peter turned and looked at Bruce. "To find the Court of Owls."

"Th-this is impossible, sir. The Court of Owls has been lurking in Gotham for centuries. We can't possibly find them."

Bruce stammered.

"There are always clues, Bruce."

Peter handed the motorcycle helmet to Bruce. "And starting today, they have already revealed themselves."

Bruce put on the helmet, sat in the back, and wrapped his arms around Peter's waist.

With a roar, the motorcycle immediately sped off through the streets of Gotham.

While driving the motorcycle, Peter called Martian Manhunter. "Jones, have you found James Gordon's phone number?"

According to his understanding of Gotham from his previous life, the only one who could possibly help now was this upright Police officer.

Although the current Gordon might not yet be the experienced old detective he would become in the future.

After receiving Gordon's phone number from Martian Manhunter, he immediately dialed it.

At the Gotham Police Department, Officer James Gordon was overwhelmed by the chaos in Gotham when his phone suddenly rang.

"This is James Gordon. Who is this?"

"Officer Gordon, I'd like to talk to you about the Court of Owls."

Hearing the words "Court of Owls" from the receiver, Gordon's heart skipped a beat.

"Who are you? Why do you know about this organization?"

"Who I am is not important, but if you want to talk, you can go to the rooftop of the Gotham Police Department. I'll be waiting for you there."

After Gordon hung up the phone, the expression on his face kept changing.

After a moment of hesitation, he finally gritted his teeth and rushed to the rooftop.

On the rooftop, Gordon looked around at his surroundings.

The dark night was silent, and it seemed no one was waiting for him there.

"Officer Gordon."

Hearing the unfamiliar voice, Gordon was startled and spun around.

What he saw was a Shadow bathed in the darkness.

The cover of the night prevented him from seeing the other person's face, and a sense of mystery enveloped him.

"Wh-who are you?"

Facing the elusive presence, Gordon's vigilance was at its highest.

"That's not important, Officer Gordon. I think you must have investigated the Court of Owls, right?"

Gordon took a step back. "How do you know? Who exactly are you?"

Peter looked at the handsome middle-aged man in front of him, unable to reconcile him with the elderly Gordon he knew from his previous life.

He shook his head, dispelling the sense of incongruity. "Don't worry, I'm not a thug. I'm someone trying to give this city some hope."

"The Court of Owls controls a laboratory in Indian Hill, researching a serum virus, Officer Gordon. Send people to investigate there. I believe you'll definitely find something valuable."

Peter paused, then continued, "Now, let's exchange information. I think you'll tell me the clues you have, right, Officer?"

Gordon hesitated, looking at Peter in the Shadow, but ultimately chose to trust him.

"I haven't found the location of this organization yet, but I've found that former Gotham Mayor Wally Croon is closely connected to this organization. He must know the secrets about it."

"Former Mayor?"

Peter nodded in satisfaction after hearing this answer.

"Bang!"

The gunshot near the Police Department startled Gordon.

He turned to look in the direction of the gunshot, and when he turned back to face Peter, he found that the other person's figure had disappeared.

In the distance.

Bruce, observing the scene on the rooftop, saw Peter's ability to appear and disappear without a trace, and his eyes lit up.

He would also try this method of meeting Officer Gordon in the future.

An hour later.

Peter grabbed the pot-bellied former Mayor by the collar with one hand and pushed him to the edge of the rooftop.

"My time is precious, so Mr. Mayor, we don't need to beat around the bush. Tell me, where is the headquarters of the Court of Owls?"

Wally Croon looked at Peter standing in front of him in horror. "I-I don't know what you're talking about."

He had been resting at home, and in an instant, he was kidnapped to the rooftop by this demon.

"It seems you still don't know who you've provoked!"

Peter suddenly pushed Wally Croon backward.

The former Mayor, whose body was out of control, immediately felt a sense of weightlessness.

He let out a desperate scream as he fell downstairs.

Just as he was about to fall, his tie was grabbed by Peter.

Wally Croon, whose body was leaning backward with half of it protruding outside the rooftop, did not breathe a sigh of relief from being saved but instead let out a more miserable scream.

"No! No! Sir, don't let go! Please!"

Peter, holding the other person's tie, shook his head and said, "I'm not sure if your tie can hold. Now, tell me everything you know about the Court of Owls."

"I'll tell you, I'll tell you!"

Wally Croon, scared out of his wits, immediately begged Peter for mercy.

However, before he could even speak about the Court of Owls, there was a sudden "whoosh" as a sharp sound pierced the air.

Wally Croon's head was directly struck by a dart, and blood splattered outwards.

Bruce, who was standing nearby, was shocked by Peter's interrogation methods and didn't expect Wally Croon to be killed.

The sudden turn of events instantly stunned him!
