[ Location: Brimborn Steelworks - Rooftop Skylight ][ Date: April 6th, 1985 - Saturday Night (9:00 PM) ]
The smell hit me first.
It wasn't just rot anymore. It was the smell of ozone, burning hair, and something ancient and dusty, like the air inside a tomb that hadn't been opened in a million years.
I lay flat on the rusted metal roof, peering through the grime-streaked skylight. My [ Remote Viewing ] was active, overlaying thermal signatures onto my physical vision.
Below, the factory floor was a nightmare.
The Biomass—the Mind Flayer's avatar made of melted rats—had risen. It looked like a mound of wet, red clay mixed with bone shards. It had no eyes, only mouths. Dozens of them, gnashing and screaming with the voices of a thousand dying rodents.
Facing it was Pennywise.
The Clown wasn't laughing anymore. His suit was torn, oozing a silver substance that hissed when it touched the floor.
"Meat," the Biomass gurgled, a sound that vibrated in my teeth.
"Stale," Pennywise spat back. His jaw unhinged, dropping down to his chest. "Rotten. Boring."
The Clown shifted.
His bones cracked and rearranged. In a blink, He was a Giant Spider—legs made of porcelain, sharp and spindly, towering over the vat machinery.
SCREEECH.
Pennywise lunged. The spider legs stabbed into the Biomass, impaling the flesh.
The Biomass absorbed it.
The flesh rippled up the spider legs like quicksand, trying to pull the cosmic entity into itself.
'It's a stalemate,' I thought, my heart hammering a frantic rhythm against the roof. 'Biological assimilation versus Cosmic immutability.'
The factory shook. Dust rained down from the rafters.
I gripped the edge of the skylight. My hands were shaking from fear.
'I'm witnessing a war between horror gods. If they look up... I'm dead.'
Suddenly, Pennywise changed again. The spider dissolved into a swarm of giant leeches with human faces. They latched onto the Biomass, sucking the psychic energy out of it.
The Mind Flayer shrieked—a psychic blast that tore through the air.
CRACK.
The glass of the skylight beneath me fractured.
'Oh no.'
The spiderweb crack spread instantly.
I didn't have time to stand. I fell.
Gravity grabbed me. I plummeted toward the battleground, right between the leech-swarm and the meat-mountain.
'Telekinesis
[ Ability Active: Telekinesis (Self-Levitation). ]
I halted in mid-air, ten feet above the monsters. I hung there, suspended by my own mind, my legs dangling over the abyss.
Pennywise looked up.
He didn't look like a leech or a spider. He looked like the Clown again.
But his mouth was open. Wide. Too wide.
Inside his throat, there was no darkness. There were lights.
The Deadlights.
"A smile is something special
A ribbon is something rare
So I'll be special and I'll be rare
With a smile and ribbon in my hair"
Three orbiting spheres of bright, orange light.
I looked. I couldn't help it.
The world fell away. The factory vanished. There was no floor, no roof. Only the orange void. I saw shapes that geometry couldn't describe. I heard a song that sounded like a galaxy screaming.
"Join us," the lights whispered. "Float. Forever."
My Occlumency shields they evaporated. My brain felt like it was being unspooled like a cassette tape.
[ ⚠ CRITICAL ALERT: SANITY CHECK FAILED. ⚠ ][ Psychic Trauma Imminent. Spirit 120 < Spirit ??? ]
'Move,' a tiny voice in my head screamed. 'Look away!'
I couldn't. I was paralyzed by the sheer, beautiful horror of it.
Then, my chest burned.
The Magic.
It flared, dumping a massive surge of mana into my system to jumpstart my heart.
THUMP.
I gasped, tearing my eyes away from the orange light. I squeezed them shut, tears streaming down my face.
"UP!" I screamed.
I blasted myself upward with Telekinesis, smashing through the remaining glass of the skylight and rolling onto the roof.
I lay there, heaving, clawing at the rusted metal.
'I almost died. I almost became a balloon.'
[ System Notice: Mental Resistance Increased. Occlumency Level 4 (Strain). ]
Below, the battle raged on. The Mind Flayer had taken advantage of Pennywise's distraction to wrap a tentacle around the Clown's throat.
I crawled away from the hole.
Crunch.
Footsteps. Heavy boots on gravel.
I froze.
I peeked over the edge of the roof.
A man was walking toward the factory entrance. He wore a leather jacket and sunglasses, even at night. He moved with the mechanical precision of a machine.
Grigori. The Russian Terminator.
He stopped. He listened to the screeching coming from inside. He pulled out a silenced pistol. He wasn't scared. He was calculating.
'If he goes in there, he dies. And Pennywise eats his fear. Or worse, he reports this to the Motherland and they nuke the site.'
I needed him gone.
'Mental Arts: Illusion.'
[ Ability Active: Illusion (Auditory). ]
I focused on the woods behind Grigori.
'Sirens. Police. Lots of them.'
Wail. Wail. WAIL.
The sound of approaching police cars echoed through the night. Not real sound—mental sound projected directly into his auditory cortex.
Grigori stiffened. He checked his watch. He holstered his gun and melted back into the shadows, retreating toward his motorcycle.
'One problem down.'
I crawled back to the skylight. I didn't look down directly this time. I used Remote Viewing (Thermal Only).
The fight was messy. The Biomass was burning—Pennywise had turned into something that breathed acid. But Pennywise was shrinking. The Mind Flayer was physically tearing chunks off the Clown's avatar.
They were both weakened.
'Now.'
I stood up. I aimed my hands at the massive support beams holding the molten slag vats suspended above the floor (leftover from the factory's operational days, kept hot by the Russians for some reason—probably disposal).
'Gravity is my weapon.'
[ Ability Active: Telekinesis (Max Output). ]
I gripped the bolts holding the vat.
'Twist.'
SCREECH. Metal sheared.
'Pull.'
The bolts snapped.
The massive vat tipped.
WHOOSH.
Tons of molten slag, glowing white-hot, cascaded down like a waterfall of sun.
It hit the Biomass first.
HISSSSSSS.
The flesh vaporized. The Mind Flayer screamed—a sound that shattered the remaining windows. Heat killed the virus instantly.
Then the wave hit Pennywise.
The Clown tried to shift, to turn into mist, but the heat was too intense. It disrupted his physical cohesion.
"NO!" Pennywise shrieked. "HOT! TOO HOT!"
The molten river swallowed them both.
The factory floor turned into a lake of fire.

I collapsed on the roof, watching the orange glow reflect off the clouds.

Pain shot through my body. My veins turned black, then orange, then normal. My head felt like it was expanding.
I gasped, lying on the cold metal.
'I did it. I stole their powers.'
I stood up, stumbling. I needed to leave before the fire department arrived.
As I climbed down the fire escape, a voice whispered in my ear. It wasn't the Mind Flayer.
"That was... funny."
Pennywise.
"I like you, Vivan. You play rough. We're going to play again. Real soon."
The voice faded into a giggle.
I touched my chest. My Inventory felt heavy.
I opened it.
The Philosopher's Stone. It was pulsing. It had absorbed the ambient energy of the Deadlights during the fight. The red stone now had a swirling orange center.
'It's mutating,' I realized. 'Everything is mutating.'
I walked into the tall grass, vanishing into the night.
"Let's play," I whispered back to the dark.
