Chapter 132: Want to Learn Flying Thunder God?
Upon returning home, Kaito placed the chunin vest he'd received on his bed and began inspecting it.
The vest was similar to the one from the series—green in color, with three scroll pouches on each side of the chest. It also came with a neck guard and extra padding on the shoulders. On its back was the Uzumaki clan symbol. The material was quite durable, providing slight resistance against fire, lightning, weapons, and blunt force attacks.
Kaito thought to himself,
Not bad. Six scroll pouches plus minor defense. I wonder if I can engrave some sealing jutsu on it for storage. It would be convenient to have a quick way to summon hundreds of explosive tags.
Kaito looked at his current clothes and decided,
I need to buy some new outfits too. These feel a bit tight. I'll probably need new ones every year for the next few years. Speaking of which...
Kaito looked around his apartment. He'd been living here for almost seven years! He noticed several cracks on the walls and even the ceiling. He thought,
I might need to move to a new place too. Practicing tree climbing and wall walking indoors has done quite a bit of damage! Plus, this place feels too small now. I wonder how much housing costs in this world.
Kaito decided to look into it later and then went to sleep.
Early the next morning, Kaito arrived at the training grounds and began his routine.
He increased the gravity seal used for training to its maximum of sixty percent. Soon, Mieko and Hodaka also arrived.
At six in the morning, an elderly man knocked on the door of the Hokage's office and walked in.
Homura Mitokado looked at Hiruzen and asked,
"Why did you call me here so early?"
Hiruzen looked at his old friend and said,
"Starting today, I'll be training three chunin for a few days, so I'm leaving the administrative duties to you."
Homura's eye twitched. He was clearly annoyed and asked aggressively,
"Why do I have to handle all this paperwork? I'm too old for this nonsense."
Hiruzen chuckled and replied,
"You proposed the idea of rewarding top Academy performers, which greatly benefited the village. Consider this your reward."
Homura stared at Hiruzen. Both fell into a staring contest! A few minutes later, Homura sighed in defeat.
He'd heard that during the Chunin Exams, a genin had asked Hiruzen for a reward. So he understood why Hiruzen was targeting him now.
He replied reluctantly,
"Alright, but don't take too long."
Hiruzen chuckled.
"They're just kids. I'll teach them one jutsu each, and it'll be done quickly."
Homura nodded in agreement.
Unfortunately for Homura, both he and Hiruzen overlooked one crucial factor!
He would end up stuck with paperwork much longer than anticipated.
Hiruzen explained some details to his friend before leaving.
Hiruzen wasn't too worried—Homura, Koharu, and even Danzo occasionally handled his paperwork, especially during wartime. So they all knew the procedures.
At seven o'clock, Hiruzen arrived at the training grounds and saw the three chunin training diligently. He chuckled and muttered,
"If they can maintain this level of dedication, they'll have bright futures."
Seeing the Hokage, the three stopped training, Body Flickered in front of him, and greeted him respectfully.
Hiruzen returned their greeting and praised their efforts. He asked,
"So, have you decided which jutsu you want to learn from me?"
Kaito's eyes sparkled with excitement! He thought eagerly,
We get to choose? That's amazing!
Mieko replied,
"I don't need to learn any ninjutsu. The Uchiha clan library has everything I need."
Hodaka also shook his head. "I don't want to learn ninjutsu either. I want to focus on taijutsu and master the Sixty-Four Palms technique."
Kaito looked at his teammates with a completely flat expression.
Hiruzen laughed. He looked at Mieko and said,
"Watch this."
Hiruzen Body Flickered fifty meters away, formed several hand seals, and announced,
"Fire Release: Intelligent Hard Work!"
Kaito extended his sensory field and observed carefully. Mieko and Hodaka activated their Sharingan and Byakugan respectively.
They noticed a ring of fire forming around Hiruzen.
Instantly, the flames exploded outward in all directions! In less than a second, fire had spread to a radius of forty meters around him.
Three large boulders were caught in the area—all split cleanly in half!
Where the fire passed, nothing remained on the ground. Even the soil turned black and charred.
Although the flames were ten meters away from them, all three chunin felt an insane heatwave!
Within five seconds, Kaito and Hodaka both Body Flickered backward. Five more seconds passed before Mieko also retreated.
Kaito stared at the inferno and exclaimed,
"The heat is incredible!"
They were all drenched in sweat.
Hodaka nodded seriously. "If I got hit by that, there might not even be bones left."
Mieko was too shocked to speak. The Uchiha clan prided themselves on their Fire Release mastery.
She'd seen how powerful her parents and clan elders were. But she'd never felt flames this intense!
Hiruzen smiled at their astonished expressions. He dispelled the jutsu and Body Flickered back to them. "As you heard, this technique is called Fire Release: Intelligent Hard Work. It's both defensive and offensive. I developed it when I was younger."
He looked at Mieko and asked,
"Do you want to learn this jutsu?"
Mieko nodded obediently, her earlier pride completely gone.
Hiruzen smiled and turned to Hodaka. "I know you prefer not to focus on ninjutsu, so I'll teach you something that will enhance your taijutsu. Watch carefully—this is a secret technique of your clan."
Chakra began surging from the tenketsu in Hiruzen's right palm. He pulled his arm back, then thrust it forward at incredible speed.
As his arm moved, a compressed sphere of chakra formed in his hand. When he extended his arm fully, the chakra sphere shot toward a boulder.
The projectile hit the boulder in the blink of an eye, punching a clean hole straight through it. It continued forward, creating holes in five trees behind the boulder!
The chunin were shocked once again!
Hodaka had seen this technique before, but he'd been told no one would teach it to him until he reached jonin rank.
However, the technique he'd seen clan elders perform was far less lethal than what Hiruzen just demonstrated. At most, it would produce strong winds that knocked leaves from trees.
Hiruzen explained,
"This taijutsu technique is called Eight Trigrams: Vacuum Palm, developed by the Hyuga clan to enhance mid-range combat capabilities. It can be used for both offense and defense."
Kaito swallowed hard, thinking to himself,
I remember reading that Hiruzen Sarutobi could perform all of Konoha's jutsu, including secret techniques! But that doesn't fully capture his strength. A more accurate statement would be that Hiruzen can perform all techniques better than anyone else in the village!
Hiruzen asked,
"Do you want to learn this technique?"
Hodaka nodded immediately, his earlier reluctance completely vanished.
Hiruzen finally looked at Kaito and asked,
"Kaito, have you thought about what jutsu you want to learn from me?"
Kaito was still processing Hiruzen's incredible demonstrations. He composed himself, nodded, and said,
"Yes, Hokage-sama."
Hiruzen was slightly surprised, but then thought,
This boy always knows what he wants. So it's not strange for him to have something specific in mind. I'm curious what jutsu he's chosen.
Hiruzen asked,
"What jutsu is it, Kaito?"
Kaito said with a completely serious expression,
"Hokage-sama, I want to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique used by the Second and Fourth Hokage."
Hiruzen had been delighted that the young chunin were impressed by his abilities, but now he himself was completely shocked! Even Kaito could easily see the surprise and speechlessness on his face!
Mieko and Hodaka were equally stunned! They looked at Kaito with dumbfounded expressions.
Kaito maintained his serious expression, looking hopefully into Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes!
