Chapter 73 - The "Special" Milk, and a Crushing Blow from Hu Tao

Hu Tao, who was about to open her next jar, stopped and looked at the man curiously.

He just said he'd wait for me to finish, but now he's changed his mind?

"Because I was hoping to borrow some of Director Hu's luck."

Hearing Felix's question and seeing Hu Tao look over, the man's face turned red. He scratched his head in embarrassment. "Director Hu's luck is amazing. She opened five jars and got four great items."

"I was thinking, if I open my jars while Director Hu is opening hers, I might be able to borrow some of her luck. Then I might pull something good too."

As he spoke, he looked ashamed, his face flushed.

He knew he was going back on his word, and that wasn't great.

But seeing Hu Tao pull so many useful items, he couldn't help but hope.

After all, Director Hu could afford to open ten jars. He could only afford two. He wasn't as rich, so he naturally wanted to maximize his chances.

"Oh, is that so? It's fine, go ahead and open them."

Hearing his explanation, Hu Tao giggled. "What's there to be embarrassed about? If you want to open jars, then open them. If my good luck can help you, I'd be happy too. But of course, if you pull something bad, you can't blame me."

Hu Tao didn't mind at all.

If he wanted to borrow her luck, let him.

She didn't even know what her own luck was like, and she couldn't control it. Opening jars was all about fate.

After all, she had pulled an empty jar too.

"I won't! I definitely won't!"

The man shook his head quickly.

If he pulled something useless, how could he possibly blame Director Hu?

Meanwhile, Felix chuckled to himself.

Many people liked to get close to lucky individuals, hoping to absorb some of that luck.

If this were a place filled with immortal energy, people would fight over it.

But with jars, it was all superstition.

Of course, the element of luck couldn't be ruled out entirely.

Felix suddenly thought of Barbara, far away in Mondstadt.

If Barbara came to open jars, would her luck apply here?

Shaking his head, Felix pushed the thought away.

"Go ahead and pick two jars, then."

Felix took the Mora and said lightly, "It doesn't matter if you don't get anything good. With what you have now—the Chef's Experience aside—that fishing glove alone will be a continuous source of income for you. Accumulating wealth is only a matter of time."

"Mm-hm."

The man nodded like a pecking chicken and pointed to two jars. "I want those two."

Felix waved his hand, and two jars floated over, landing steadily in front of the man.

At the same time, Hu Tao turned her attention back to her own jars and smashed one open.

"Bang."

As the jar shattered, a bottle filled with golden liquid fell out.

[Special Papaya Milk]: A special milk from another world, made from unique papayas. Drinking it provides great benefits. This benefit only applies to females.

"Hiss!"

Seeing this item, Felix sucked in a breath.

Why does this thing seem so... improper?

While Felix was reading the description, Hu Tao curiously picked up the bottle of papaya milk.

The thick, golden liquid looked extraordinary, and it piqued her interest.

Remembering the Adventure Tea she had just pulled, her eyes sparkled as she looked at Felix. "Shopkeeper, what's this? Is it a drink similar to the Adventure Tea?"

"Papaya milk."

Seeing Hu Tao's beautiful, captivating eyes looking at him with anticipation, Felix chuckled. "It's a milk drink. It tastes very good, and there are great benefits to drinking it. As for what those benefits are... I'm not sure."

"Then I'll drink it when I get back."

Hearing Felix's words, Hu Tao nodded with interest and tucked the bottle into her wide sleeve.

Watching this, Felix fell into thought.

Just how big are the pockets in that sleeve? Everything she's pulled has been stuffed in there, yet it doesn't bulge at all. It's like a storage space.

"Bang!"

At that moment, another jar shattered.

The Liyue resident had opened his first jar.

A single gold coin fell out.

"A 1,000-Mora coin?!"

The man didn't need Felix's explanation to recognize it.

His eyes instantly turned red.

I spent 100,000 Mora on a single jar, and all I got was 1,000 Mora?!

100,000 Mora, down the drain!

Felix: "..."

Hu Tao: "..."

Seeing this, Hu Tao threw up her hands helplessly. "Looks like my luck can't help you."

She had pulled a "beneficial" milk drink—not ordinary, but beneficial.

This guy, on the other hand, had gotten a measly 1,000-Mora coin.

"Again!"

Hearing Hu Tao's comment, the man decisively smashed his second jar.

"Bang!"

As the second jar broke, a pale, greenish-white flower fell out.

[Cecilia]: A flower as beautiful as its name. It only grows on high, cold, and windy cliffs, like a prodigal son—its heart is difficult to touch.

"Huh? Just a flower?"

Seeing the flower, the man's face fell in disappointment. "Another useless item."

He had rushed over to open jars, spent 200,000 Mora, and got two useless things.

A 1,000-Mora coin and a flower he didn't recognize. It looked ordinary.

If he had pulled a Flaming Flower like Director Hu, he would have been happy.

But this was just a plain flower.

"How is it useless? This flower is a specialty of the Mondstadt region. It's quite valuable in Liyue."

Seeing the man's dejected expression, Felix shook his head with a smile.

A Cecilia was not an ordinary item.

"Huh?"

The man's eyes widened. "A Mondstadt specialty? Isn't Mondstadt's specialty Dandelion Seeds?"

He knew about Dandelion Seeds. This wasn't that.

"This is a Cecilia. It only grows on Starsnatch Cliff in Mondstadt. You may not have seen one, but you should have heard of it."

Felix chuckled. "Regional specialties from other nations can sell for a high price here."

"It's really a Cecilia!"

Hearing this, the man's eyes widened again. He stared at the flower in surprise.

His mood had been a rollercoaster.

He hadn't seen a Cecilia before, but he had heard of it.

In Liyue's black market, many people were looking to buy Cecilias.

If he sold this, he could make a profit!

Thinking this, he felt much better.

He had broken even this time.

Though he spent 200,000 Mora, he should be able to earn it back from this single flower!

"Although Cecilias are a Mondstadt specialty, their price in Liyue is only around 100,000 Mora."

Just as the man was getting excited, Hu Tao's voice floated over calmly. "And 100,000 Mora is the high end. The average price is a bit lower. Even if there's a market for it, it's still a niche item."

The Liyue resident: "????"

Hearing Hu Tao's words, the man's joyful expression vanished.

This Cecilia is only worth 100,000 Mora at best?

Maybe even less?

So even if I sell it, I still lost money.

Thinking this, the man's face fell again.

He really lost money this time.

The well-informed Director Hu had no reason to lie to him.

Felix: "..."

Watching this, Felix was speechless. Does Hu Tao know how devastating those words are to someone who just got a bad pull?

"Sigh."

The man sighed, picked up his 1,000-Mora coin and the Cecilia, and left.

"Looks like his luck is terrible."

Watching him leave, Hu Tao stroked her smooth, jade-like chin. "But my luck is great."

"Your good luck doesn't mean you can share it with others."

Seeing Hu Tao stroking her chin, Felix smiled. "Of course, you could pull a luck-related item from these jars. It's not like there aren't any items that can increase luck."

The jars contained all sorts of wonders. Felix believed that if there were items to increase luck, there were probably items that could steal it too!

"I believe you, Shopkeeper."

Hearing Felix, Hu Tao nodded in agreement.

Whether it was from what she had seen or what she had experienced herself, everything proved that the jars in this shop were filled with strange and wonderful things she had never even heard of.

As the Director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, she was well-read.

The library at the parlor contained countless records of bizarre events and ancient knowledge, all of which she had committed to memory.

But even so, she had never heard of the strange items in this Jar Shop.

It completely shattered her understanding of the world.

But she also knew she hadn't traveled all of Teyvat. The world was vast, and it wasn't surprising that there were things she didn't know.

"By the way, Shopkeeper, can you tell me which country you're from?"

Thinking of this, Hu Tao asked curiously, "Sumeru? Or Fontaine?"
