"No, he is right." Thor said when it looked like his friends were going to protest. "I am mortal now, I will simply slow you down or get you killed. But I can help get the people out."
"That's smart," Grim nodded approvingly. "the rest of you do the same and get out of here."
"We will stay here and fight." Lady Sif said as she gestured to herself and the Warriors Three. Grim looked at them, he was tempted to say no but these were Asgardians and were tougher than the average human. Plus if whatever came was Asgardian then they would probably be very helpful.
"Fine." Grim said before he turned around and saw the very subject of their discussion walking towards them. A large metal robot about thirteen feet tall, it's shoulders were covered with spikes. It looked like it was made out of strips of metal. "Is that the Destroyer?" Grim asked the others.
"Unfortunately." Lady Sif nodded as she and the Warriors Three took a fighting stance while Thor and the others began helping with evacuating the civilians.
"Let's destroy it then." Grim said as his wand appeared in his hand.
"That is your weapon?" Fandral gave him a disbelieving look.
"One of them." Grim nodded before he began walking towards the destroyer, the others exchanged looks before they followed him.
Grim raised his wand and fired an explosive spell at the Destroyer, the spell impacted against the Destroyer's chest, however it didn't do much beyond slowing it down slightly. Grim teleported behind it and quickly tried to change the metal into something else, after Grim had fought Stane he had kicked himself for not remembering to try transfiguration. Unfortunately Grim's spell didn't work, it appeared that either the metal or the spells on the Destroyer prevented him from changing it.
The Destroyer seemed to have noticed Grim because it turned around and faced him, its faceplate opened and an orange-yellow blast shot out. Grim dodged and cast several more explosive spells, only for them to be equally as effective as the previous spells. The Destroyer fired again but Grim dodged out of the way, he waved his wand and a green fog enveloped the Destroyer, once he was done with that he teleported back and landed back by Sif and the Warrior's three. Grim flicked his wand and shot a spell that caused the gas to explode with the Destroyer still in it.
When the flames died down the Destroyer was standing tall and undamaged.
"Nice try." Fandral said as he patted Grim on the shoulder. "How about you let us have a try?" He suggested before he and the other three walked towards it.
"Keep it distracted." Grim heard Sif said to the others before she walked away from the other three. Hogun and Fandral rushed ahead of Volstagg before stopping, the two then gestured Volstagg towards them. Volstagg ran towards them, he then jumped past them with the other two pushing him to increase his speed.
"For Asgard!" Volstagg yelled as he flew towards the Destroyer, Unfortunately for him he was backhanded out of the air and crash landed onto the back of a car.
"So," Grim said as he stopped alongside Fandral and Hogun. "it's called the 'Destroyer' yet your plan was to throw a fat man at it?"
Grim didn't wait for their response as he saw the Destroyer getting closer to Volstagg, its faceplate opened and it was preparing to fire. Grim aimed his wand and was about to cast a spell when he saw Sif drop down onto the Destroyer's back. She slammed her weapon through it, her weapon must have possessed the ability to increase its size as it had gone through the Destroyer's neck and into the ground below. Lady Sif gave a smug yet pleased smile to the others.
Her smile did not last long as the Destroyer's body shifted, its arms, legs and head rotated so it was now facing Sif. Its blast began powering up and it was preparing to fire, fortunately Lady Sif was able to get out of the way in time by jumping off of it. The Destroyer rose, the blade leaving its body. Grim quickly jumped into action and turned the ground under it into mud and allowed it to sink down until it was knee deep in mud. Grim levitated the car that Volstagg had just got off of and raised it above the Destroyer, he waited until Sif was safely out of the way before he slammed it hard down on the the Destroyer's head.
"Thank you." Sif said as she stopped next to him.
"Unless it has actually been destroyed I would wait before thanking me." Grim responded just as the car exploded, a quick shield from Grim prevented it from hitting himself or his new allies. The Destroyer began climbing out of the mud, as soon as it was out Grim flicked his wand and sent the mud up the Destroyer, a lot of it ending up between his metal plates. A quick spell and the mud was hardened, slowing the Destroyer down, unfortunately it was not by as much as Grim would have preferred since it was still able to easily walk towards them.
Grim aimed his wand at it and let out a large blame of fire, not Fiendfyre but close enough. While he was capable of using Fiendfyre and controlling it he was still reluctant to use it when other people were around. The Destroyer disappeared from view as it was engulfed in flames, ten seconds later the flames were cut off but instead of a completely burnt Destroyer there was an undamaged Destroyer.
"An 'A' for effort." Volstagg commented, hoping to make Grim feel better for his lack of destroyed Destroyer.
"Shut it," Grim said before anyone could say anything else. "I'm going to keep it distracted and work out how to stop it. You four help the others get out of her then go."
"You can't fight it by yourself." Sif protested.
"I've fought bigger and more dangerous than that," Grim replied. "it won't kill me."
"We are fighters," Sif said. "we will not run.
"Fine, don't blame me if you die." Grim said as he walked forwards and cast several blasting and explosive spells. The Destroyer was slowed down and occasionally pushed back by the spells but still remained mostly undamaged, it fired a blast at Grim who put up a shield. His shield barely held against the force of the blast, while he kept the shield up the others ran past him and towards the Destroyer only to get blasted away and crash through different buildings.
