Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Holly Leaves

Wang Ye found a holly tree and picked up three or four leaves from beneath it.

The leaves of this holly tree are relatively hard, with small thorns on the edges, making them quite suitable for throwing.

The two most important characteristics of "hidden weapons" are flatness and hardness. Without these, even a master who has honed their throwing skills to perfection cannot deliver a powerful strike.

There aren't many types of leaves suitable for throwing, and holly is one of them.

After collecting the leaves, Wang Ye returned to the unfinished building.

First, he played with the holly leaves with his fingers, getting familiar with their feel.

The stems of these leaves felt very hard, enhancing the stability and speed of the throw, while the thorny edges greatly increased their power.

His professional level intuition told him that these leaves could be used for throwing and had quite impressive power.

Wang Ye picked up the wooden board he used for filming earlier and hung it mid-air. He stepped back twenty paces, creating a distance of about ten meters.

Although this distance sounds short, it is actually equivalent to the height of three floors or more.

Never mind throwing leaves. Even throwing pebbles from such a distance would barely cause any effective damage for a normal person.

Wang Ye furrowed his brows and fixed his gaze on a certain point on the board.

Suddenly, that tiny "point" began to magnify infinitely in his eyes until it was the size of a hubcap.

This isn't a special ability that comes with a throwing skill of lv3, but rather a capability Wang Ye's body inherently possesses.

Over these days of evolution, his eyesight had also undergone a terrifying change. Although it couldn't be accurately measured with professional instruments, Wang Ye could roughly estimate his vision was two to three times that of an average person.

Whether gazing afar or examining close things, there was a significant change.

For instance, when a normal person looks at their palm, they can only see the general pattern of lines covering the palm. In contrast, Wang Ye could easily see each fingerprint line around 0.2 millimeters wide and the pores of gray sweat glands.

When gazing into the distance, the remote mountains, which should have been shrouded in green mist dozens of miles away, were clearly visible to Wang Ye, down to the appearance of each tree on the mountainside.

Wang Ye had a premonition that if he continued to evolve, even the bacteria and microorganisms on human skin would become clearly visible to him.

At that time, everyone might appear to him as walking petri dishes of bacteria.

Wang Ye sighed softly, shaking his head to clear his mind.

He began to focus on the task of throwing.

His muscles and bones gradually stretched, and a whiplash-like force surged through his body. The holly leaf held in his right hand gradually passed by his ear, reaching an inch behind his head.

Just as the tension reached its peak.

In an instant.

Like a drawn bowstring snapping back, Wang Ye's body suddenly flung the holly leaf out with a "whoosh," shooting it like a streak of emerald light straight into the wooden board.

It made a crisp "cha" sound!

And the spot where it landed was exactly where Wang Ye had aimed, with not a fraction of deviation!

The board, struck with great force, began to sway back and forth, taking a while to stop. The iron rod suspended above it and tied with hemp rope creaked and groaned. Clearly, the power of this "dart" was more than sufficient.

But, in reality.

This throw's feel also left Wang Ye utterly astonished.

After reaching lv3 in the throwing skill, he felt that his ability to emit force became infinitely smoother, with the power conduction throughout his body unimpeded, while the force decay at each joint was greatly reduced.

This was because hundreds or thousands of bad habits and incorrect techniques Wang Ye had never noticed were completely understood and thoroughly mastered the moment he reached lv3. Because of this, he was able to exert three to four times the power from what could have been just one-tenth of his arm strength.

Wang Ye quickly walked up to the board.

He took down the suspended board.

Sure enough,

the depth to which the holly leaf had penetrated the board was over 1CM.

Roughly the length of a fingernail.

Although not as powerful as a blade,

the fact that a soft leaf could exert such power was indeed noteworthy.

After testing the flying flower and leaf technique.

Wang Ye looked up. Outside the unfinished building, the sky was already shrouded by fiery clouds, and the room became dark, with the field of vision rapidly narrowing.

Obviously, he couldn't continue practicing.

Wang Ye immediately packed all the scattered throwing tools into his canvas bag. Then, he put on the bag and went back home.

After these days of intense practice, his skill level in "walking" had already reached about 86%, and his walking speed had become faster.

In the eyes of others, Wang Ye appeared to take a leisurely stroll at the same slow pace as other pedestrians.

But if someone looked closely at the way Wang Ye walked, they would notice his speed was astonishing. One second he was behind, and the next moment he had covered a distance equivalent to many body lengths.

Even more remarkably,

at such a fast pace, there wasn't even the slightest sound of footsteps or breathing from Wang Ye as he walked.

It was as if a ghost was gliding silently...

After a brisk walk, Wang Ye swiftly returned home. As soon as he arrived, he changed into loose-fitting clothes and practiced Tai Chi for an hour to increase his skill level.

Then, using the ingredients stored in his refrigerator, he cooked a meal to replenish the energy expended that afternoon.

Next, he took the camera to his study, transferred the filmed material from the afternoon to his computer, and edited the soundtrack for about half an hour. Once the finished video was deemed flawless, Wang Ye uploaded it directly to Douyin.

After completing these tasks.

Wang Ye leaned back in his ergonomic chair, stretched, and his stiff spine responded with a series of cracking sounds that resembled popping bubble wrap.

He glanced at the time on his wristwatch.

It was already past eight o'clock.

"Time to go out for a half-marathon run."

Wang Ye got up, made a cup of instant coffee, and downed it despite its bitterness.

Then he changed into a T-shirt and shorts and went out.

As soon as he got downstairs, a piercing cold wind swept over him instantly.

From the feeling alone, it seemed to be around 15 degrees Celsius.

Yet Wang Ye's body showed little reaction, even finding it more comfortable than indoors.

This led to the conclusion,

that after evolution, his resistance to cold had also greatly improved.

Wang Ye didn't think much more of it, left the complex, and walked a few kilometers along the road as a warm-up.

Then he activated the exercise monitoring feature on his watch and began to jog.

The Longjiang District was quite deserted at night; on the road, aside from the occasional speeding car and motorcycle, there were hardly any people.

In the dim streetlights, only the "creaking" sound of Wang Ye's sneakers against the asphalt echoed along the road.
