"I still have to doubt whether you're genuine!" Evelyn snapped, "You approached me as a stranger, then as soon as you recognized me, you spat out those words that left me unsure what to do next. What kind of good big brother is that?"
After speaking, Evelyn regretted it.
She knew Caleb did this for her own good.
Yet her words completely misinterpreted Caleb's good intentions.
Caleb remained silent, and there was a brief quiet between them, with just the sound of their breathing.
Finally, Caleb spoke first: "Is Caden Lockwood really that important to you? Even if you know he only nurtured you for your heart, you think it's okay?"
