"Hold on!"
Bella Acker knew that when Damian Sinclair said he'd come to see her right away, he really would.
With no other options, Bella sighed and said, "I just encountered someone trying to extort money by swerving their car, but it's already been resolved."
In the end, she didn't tell the whole truth.
First, she didn't want Damian to worry about her; second, their current relationship was too complicated to explain.
Damian paused; Bella heard a soft reminder from his secretary on the other end of the phone.
"President Sinclair, the meeting is starting."
Damian signaled for the secretary to head to the conference room and then asked, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. If I wasn't, how would I be texting you from home?" Bella replied. "You go ahead and take care of your stuff, just send me your card number."
"Did you call the police?"
"I did. I even came back in a police car."
