Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Smell

Vroommm….

Bang… Bang… Bang…

Booomm!!!

The sound produced by a mini bus mowing down the zombie-like creatures and the gate being forced open by crashing into it. All of these events that are happening down there were being looked at by me right now from the upper floor in one of the classrooms.

There is a reason that I said that this is a classroom. It can be seen from the contents of this room. A chair, a table, a blackboard, something like an altar at the front, and minus the zombie-like in this room. Of course, the zombie-like will be reduced—where the hell do you count the zombie as one part of the classroom? With all of this combined, I am sure 80% of it that this room was the classroom before.

I said it in the past tense because this classroom look like it came out of a slaughterhouse, or the closer the remnant of a homicide place. In front of me right now, there are four zombie-like that are creeping to my position.

Seeing this scene, the most important step to do is calm myself.

Fuhh...

Having calmed myself, I need to analyze everything that happened and the course of action that I must take, as it will determine how I can go from here.

Just now I seem to has been transferred here from that white place and the moment that I opened my eyes, what I saw were three guys and a girl. One of the guys lost his right arm, the other one had his neck bent in a weird direction, and the last guy had his gut spilled out. For the girl, how can I say it… Her body bent at every limb that can be seen. The arm, leg, and neck— all of it bent in weird directions, making her drag herself to my place.

The place I am right now is at the backside of the classroom. Two openings can be seen to be the places that can be used to enter this classroom. One at the front and one at the back. The door is the type that uses sliding doors. There is only one side that has a window to the left side of mine. Two zombies at the center, with the one that bent its neck and the one that spilled its gut, one zombie at the front that is dragging itself, and the last zombie at the back close to me but it stood near the window, while right now I am close toward the door.

Behind me there is one locker and in front a lot of desks. Hmn… What to do? Okay, then that will be my course of action.

Putting my hand at the door at the back, I slide it and close them. Then checking the locker at my back, what I found is two brooms, one mop, and one bucket. Oh, with this then I am really safe.

Taking one of the brooms from the locker and then crushing the place that is used for sweeping, then using it to lock the door by placing it against the door. Done doing it, taking the rest of the equipment that I found, I make a beeline to the front door while avoiding the zombie using the desks that are scattered around the place, making it an obstacle for the zombie. Like before, the broom is used to block the door.

With the route to enter this classroom closed off, the course of action is to take out these zombies. Moving closely to the zombie at the center with the mop that has already been broken into two. With the bucket, I take it and get close to the zombie that has its gut spilled out. Closing toward it while trying to find the range of the attack, and when I move close to it like within two meters, it begins to lunge at me. Seeing that the zombie-like lunged in my direction, the action that I need to take is to take a step back. With the zombie-like missing its attack and with the posture of hugging, then taking the bucket, I put it on the head of that zombie.

Seeing the step of putting the bucket on the head of the zombie being successful without too much effort, taking that false chance, I then back off to the place where I put the mop close to the door. The moment I back off from there and out of the circle of desks, the girl zombie-like emerged. With this happening, it looks like the step I took to back off for now was correct. If I stayed there, that zombie would block my path and I might really not notice it as it is not like the other zombie-like that are standing with their legs. This zombie crawls slowly, so it is more dangerous than the others.

Use the desk then.

That is something I will not take a chance to do if possible. Unlike the desks at my school that are entirely made from wood with a design that makes them really stable, this one that is in front of me right now has low stability as the legs of it are really slim.

Taking the makeshift spear, with one side in my left hand and the other in my right hand, it is time that I kill this zombie. Moving to the zombie girl that crawls slowly, seeing its face really makes me sad.

All of its limbs bent in weird directions, even the part at the neck. Even though usually people will die and be unable to move, but the spine is still intact and it moves with this sorry state. Using the spear on my right, I thrust it to the head of the girl. After the head of that girl had been penetrated by the spear, it then stopped moving.

"It looks like the same as the zombie in the movie. This must mean that the head is the weakness of it."

Talking out loud that address to no one in particular, at that time a sound was heard.

Ding!!

Level up!

"What!!!"

Raising my voice suddenly at the moment that window appeared, I hurriedly tried to tap it and move that window to the side in one big swing. Damn, never thought that it appeared suddenly. So, it's like that it is.

Remembering the window that popped up suddenly just now, I know that right at this moment on my face there is a smile that crept up. Without more moment delay, I move to the next target, the one that had its neck bent to the side. Like the time with putting the bucket on the zombie-like head, I used the spear at the left to bait it, and using its momentum left over when it tried to catch me, using the spear I thrust through the head of that zombie. Unlike the other one, this one is a little hard to target because its neck was bent, making the force be reduced when it made contact and couple with the force futher reduced when the head moved to the back.

No matter how far it moved to the back, with the addition of its own momentum and the force I applied from the front, it was enough to pierce that head. Seeing the head dangling with the makeshift spear, one word that I can say is that it is disgusting.

Moving back to the zombie-like girl and taking the spear from her head, I then move to finish off the other two zombies.

The zombie with the bucket is swinging its arm to the side in consecutive actions. Why does it attack like that? Moving a little farther from that zombie-like dude with the bucket while keeping vigilant to the last zombie, the next moment I watch the reaction of that zombie-like.

Then I notice that when that zombie-like is moving, the bucket moves and makes a sound. It makes me think that it did not use the sense of smell to find its prey. If it depends on the smell, that zombie will not attack randomly in the direction of the bucket and will not be fooled by it. If it uses the sense of smell, it will come toward me without minding the bucket. This shows that it now uses the sense of sound.

When I found out about this fact, it makes me think that this is the best time to find out how this zombie-like moves. Taking a position and rummaging through the desks, I found a book and a few things like a pencil.

[This can be used as the substitute to find how they work]

Thinking like that, I take the pencil and throw it to the desk at the back closer to the zombie-like with one arm. I throw it lightly so that it falls at the desk and falls close to the zombie and misses the top of the desk.

Although it misses the top of the desk, it reacts to the sound when it hits the leg and moves toward it. Looking at this behavior, it makes me smile wider because it is the time to farm.
