OLEANDER
I tightened the robe around me, my hand gripping the rail as I took the staircase one step at a time.
My legs trembled, and the space between my thighs was still sore, evidence of what had happened last night. A smile touched my lips as I spotted Knox in the open kitchen.
He was shirtless, wearing chino pants. I paused on the last step, admiring him as the muscles in his back shifted when he turned on the tap.
I licked my lower lip, staring at the ink that covered most of his back. A wolf-like creature with glowing red eyes, flowers curling around it. I couldn't tell if the flowers were meant to tame it or cage it. But the wolf looked like it was in pain.
It was the first time I was seeing that tattoo. I had noticed the ones near his forehead before and assumed that was all.
Knox hadn't noticed me yet, so I moved quietly toward him, my steps light against the marble floor. Just as I reached him and he was about to turn off the tap, I prepared to scare him.
