Chapter 100 - Evidence

The group thought it over for a moment, and soon enough, Thoma had an idea. "Yoimiya's fireworks!"

Kamisato Ayaka nodded. "The Statue of the Omnipresent God stands right next to the Tenryou Commission headquarters. If we set off fireworks near the statue, the Tenryou Commission won't just ignore it. That should give Sayu the opening she needs to slip in and retrieve the official documents and other evidence."

[Paimon: And we get to enjoy another of Yoimiya's firework shows! They're so beautiful...]

[Ningguang: A firework show? Liyue's Lantern Rite has those too, and they're even bigger and more spectacular. You absolutely must come see it when this year's Lantern Rite arrives.]

[Paimon: Really?]

[Keqing: Perhaps we could invite Yoimiya to come and help prepare for this year's festival.]

[Yae Miko: That does sound rather lovely.]

[Furina: I don't suppose I could come as well?]

[Ningguang: You'd be most welcome! Everyone is invited—except the Fatui.]

[Tartaglia: That's discrimination, blatant discrimination.]

[Ningguang: Mm. Is there a problem?]

[Zhongli: Tartaglia may attend, provided he covers the bill.]

[Tartaglia: The bill? What bill?]

[Zhongli: The entirety of Liyue's festival expenses.]

[Tartaglia: ...On second thought, I might sit this one out.]

In the video...

Lumine and Paimon found Yoimiya and procured an especially massive firework from her.

As they were leaving, Yoimiya reminded them, "Make sure you run fast after lighting it! Don't let it singe your clothes, and you'd better cover your ears too."

Paimon was visibly shaken by the warning. "Why do I suddenly feel like this is terrifying?"

Yoimiya laughed. "Hahaha, don't worry, it's just fireworks! Just fireworks. Nothing's going to go wrong."

[Ningguang: Fireworks can be quite powerful, but they're designed to explode high in the sky, far from the ground. That's why they don't harm people below.]

[Keqing: Exactly. If a firework were to explode on the ground, the blast would be devastating. Thankfully, that one incident happened in an open area, so no one was hurt.]

[Yoimiya: Right, you always have to test fireworks outside the city walls.]

Paimon breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright then, let's give it a try. Thanks, Yoimiya!"

Lumine took the firework and met up with Sayu outside the Tenryou Commission headquarters.

Sayu had already thoroughly scouted the area. "Just as I expected—there are guards everywhere."

"If they spot me, it's over. We need to draw them away so I can sneak in."

Lumine nodded. "We've got the fireworks ready."

Sayu said, "Let's rendezvous at Komore Teahouse after I get the documents, okay?"

Then she added hesitantly, "And... and if I get caught, please come rescue me."

[Yae Miko: Sayu really is adorable.]

[Paimon: Is her ninjutsu based on cuteness or something?]

[Yae Miko: Not at all. Sayu specializes in infiltration and escape. She's a true professional.]

[Lumine: But if I remember correctly, Sayu wants to grow taller. Wouldn't that make infiltration and escape harder?]

[Yae Miko: Precisely. But a mission's success isn't everything.]

Despite her concerns, Paimon decided to proceed with the plan.

They lit the firework near the Statue of the Omnipresent God.

The explosion was massive, the sound deafening. Soldiers from all directions came running to investigate.

Lumine fled all the way back to Komore Teahouse.

A while later, Sayu finally stumbled in, utterly exhausted from her escape. "Whew... I've heard exercise helps you grow, but I think I overdid it."

"I feel... I feel so dizzy... everything's spinning..."

[Furina: How adorable! I want to take Sayu home with me.]

[Neuvillette: Madame Furina, please remember that Sayu is not a pet but a person with her own autonomy.]

[Furina: Oh, fine. But I'd love to invite Sayu to visit Fontaine.]

[Sayu: Don't want to go out. Want to sleep. Going out cuts into sleep time.]

[Paimon: If Sayu sleeps all day, who does the Shuumatsuban's work?]

[Sayu: Just push the work onto someone else.]

[Paimon: Oh, right.]

Sayu rubbed her head, wincing.

"Ugh... I need to sleep. But before I do, there's something important... oh yeah, I got them! I didn't know exactly what documents you were looking for, so I just stole anything that looked suspicious."

"Here you go. I'm going to sleep now."

With that, she handed over her haul to Ayaka and immediately wandered off in search of a place to nap.

The group carefully examined the documents and quickly found the report the Tenryou Commission was preparing to submit to the Shogun.

They also discovered a large cache of letters exchanged between the Commission and the Fatui.

Kamisato Ayaka mused, "It seems Lady Guuji Yae's suspicions were correct. The turmoil in Inazuma has indeed been fueled by their machinations."

She turned to Lumine. "This evidence should be sufficient. Please deliver it to Lady Guuji. I trust she will have a plan for what comes next."

Lumine nodded.

Ayaka continued, "I'll gather our people and see if we can root out more Fatui operatives hiding in Inazuma."

[Yae Miko: So that's how the crisis in Inazuma was resolved. I did have to put in quite a bit of effort. Fortunately, Ei witnessed everything—saved me some thinking.]

[Ei: Miko, in moments like these, I still need your help.]

[Paimon: Wait, Lady Yae doesn't like working either?]

[Yae Miko: Does anyone actually enjoy work?]

[Paimon: Well, Keqing seems to.]

[Keqing: Mm. Every time I finish a task, I feel fulfilled. I suppose that's the satisfaction of accomplishment.]

[Furina: Yes, there's that sense of relief when it's finally over.]

Thoma added a word of caution. "Still, be careful around the Shogun. Just thinking about the way she drew her blade last time sends chills down my spine."

Kamisato Ayaka said, "We have no choice but to trust Lady Guuji. She's close with the Shogun—she might find a way."

Lumine gathered her things and hurried back to the Grand Narukami Shrine.

At the shrine, Kujou Sara had already arrived as promised. "Lady Guuji, I'm here as agreed. Don't worry—I came alone. No one will know about this meeting."

Yae Miko smiled. "Mmm, I knew you'd keep your word. In fact, I suspect you've been restless, unable to sleep these past few days."

Kujou Sara hesitated for a moment before replying, "I refuse to doubt my clan and my superiors. You're reading too much into things. Now, where is the evidence you promised?"

No sooner had she spoken than Lumine appeared behind her.

Yae Miko's smile widened. "Ah, and here comes our other punctual guest."
