After receiving confirmation from Dr. Selvig, Black Widow didn't hesitate.
She immediately found the scepter Loki had dropped when he was blown away.
Then, Black Widow approached the device, pointing the scepter at it, and shouted into the comms channel, "I can close it! Can anyone hear me, I can close the portal!"
"Close it quickly!" Captain America said immediately and decisively.
"No, wait!" Tony Stark's voice then rang out.
"Stark, there are more and more enemies!"
"I have a nuclear bomb heading this way, it will explode in a minute!"
"So, what you were talking about before, Stark sending the nuclear bomb into the space portal, is happening now?"
Captain America couldn't help but glance at Tony Stark as he said this.
He still couldn't believe that this extremely arrogant man in front of him would make such a self-sacrificing decision in the future.
"Whoosh!"
Black Widow stood at the top of Stark Tower, temporarily waiting for the best moment.
Before long, Iron Man, carrying the nuclear bomb, flew past her, soaring straight up and into the portal.
Boom!
Faintly, Black Widow heard a dull sound, like thunder, emanating from within the portal.
Undoubtedly, it was the sound of the nuclear bomb exploding.
Iron Man succeeded!
At this moment, the camera switched, showing the Chitauri besieging the Avengers on the ground, all falling to the ground.
They just died.
Even the giant worm-like spacecraft flying in the air lost control and crashed.
Everyone had subconsciously thought that even if Stark destroyed the fleet inside the portal with a nuclear bomb, they would still have to endure a bitter battle.
But now, it seemed that was not the case at all.
"Chitauri... are they like Zerg?" Tony Stark's face was full of disbelief, "Kill the Queen, and the whole swarm is finished?"
The others were also stunned; this was completely beyond their expectations.
It had to be said that the Chitauri as a species were a bit messed up!
The lives of so many of their people were controlled by one "Queen"; as long as the Queen died, everyone would be doomed.
What kind of evolutionary path could lead to such a messed-up ecological civilization?
"Thor, is that really how the Chitauri are?" Captain America also turned his head in disbelief to ask Thor beside him.
"I've only heard their name, I don't really know much about them," Thor shook his head.
He only learned about this now.
The camera then returned to Black Widow, who had an excited expression on her face; as soon as Iron Man flew out of the portal, she could immediately close it.
However, what Black Widow didn't expect was that after waiting for a while, she didn't see Iron Man fly out of the portal.
Clearly, something unexpected had happened.
Black Widow looked up at the portal, secretly worrying for Iron Man: "Come on, Stark!"
After waiting a bit longer, Captain America made a decisive decision: "Close it!"
Upon hearing Captain America's order, Black Widow gritted her teeth and thrust the scepter in her hand fiercely into the energy barrier of the device.
The energy beam that shot into the sky was instantly destroyed, and the portal in the sky began to shrink at a visible speed.
Just as the portal was about to disappear completely, Iron Man fell from the sky.
"He's not slowing down!"
Thor immediately noticed something was wrong.
He quickly swung his hammer, intending to fly up and catch Iron Man.
However, before Thor could act, the Hulk suddenly leaped dozens of meters high and caught Iron Man.
He landed heavily on the ground in a primitive way.
But the Hulk had turned in a direction that allowed him to land on his back, so Iron Man was unharmed.
"Stark!"
Thor, Hulk, and Captain America all gathered around to check on Iron Man, and Thor immediately removed Iron Man's helmet.
However, Iron Man's eyes were tightly shut, and it was unclear if he had fainted or died; no one could remove his iron suit to check his condition.
"Roar!"
At the critical moment, the Hulk roared at Iron Man, and Iron Man suddenly opened his eyes.
"What happened!" Iron Man looked at everyone, a bit bewildered, "Don't tell me someone kissed me."
Captain America in front of the screen was speechless; he had just walked through the gates of hell, and this man was still so unserious.
"We won!"
On the screen, Captain America sighed and said.
This declaration of victory officially marked the end of the alien invasion war initiated by Loki.
The image froze on Captain America's face.
"I finally know what happened after the nuclear bomb exploded," Tony Stark shrugged, speaking first.
This question that had bothered him for several months was finally answered, and he had to admit, it was somewhat unexpected.
He could never have predicted that the big guy who lost his mind when he turned green would be the one to save him.
"Sir, Banner is in much better condition in the future," Black Widow said to Nick Fury with a sense of relief.
In the future, it was clear that the Hulk had a certain degree of rationality, unlike now, where he would only angrily smash everything around him.
"The analysis playback is complete, as per usual, let's summarize," Nick Fury nodded, acknowledging Black Widow, and then addressed everyone present.
"Actually, there's not much to summarize, Thor, just keep an eye on your brother when you go back, and none of this will happen."
Tony Stark turned his head and said to Thor with a serious expression.
Indeed, there wasn't much to summarize; everyone had basically understood all the information presented in this question.
Except for the Chitauri's messed-up ecological civilization.
"I have lost my powers now, even the right to wield my hammer; I have been banished, and I don't know how to get back."
Thor's face, however, showed a hint of sadness.
"Thor, there will always be a way," Captain America comforted Thor, "You will wield your hammer again in the future."
"Thank you, Rogers, but coming from you, I always feel a bit strange," Thor said honestly.
Being comforted by someone who can wield his hammer, telling him he'll be able to wield it again in the future, indeed felt a bit strange.
