Before Robert(Coulson) could say anything else, Ethan finally walked back into the living room.
He was at least awake now… kind of.
His hair was still a mess, but he'd thrown on jeans and a hoodie and looked barely functional.
"Alright," Ethan muttered, grabbing a piece of bread from the counter as he walked. "Let's get this over with."
Robert stood up. "Good. We'll go through the paperwork at the company building. It won't take long."
Sarah rose as well, carrying her small handbag. She gave Ethan a polite smile.
"I'll be accompanying you today."
Ethan blinked.
"Accompanying me? For what? I'm just signing papers."
"It's standard procedure," Sarah answered calmly.
Robert didn't add anything. He simply let her handle the explanation.
Ethan shrugged. "Whatever. As long as nobody makes me fill out a hundred forms."
They walked toward the door.
Right as Ethan picked up his keys, he paused and looked at Sarah.
"So… you're gonna be working with me, right?"
"Yes," she said. "Once everything starts running. Until then, I'll stay close and learn what you need."
"Okay. Cool," he said.
He didn't think too much about it.
To him, she was just a secretary.
To her… he was a job.
And to Robert(Coulson)… he was a responsibility.
They all stepped outside.
A sleek black sedan was waiting in the driveway—nothing fancy, just clean and practical.
"Get in," Robert said.
Ethan climbed into the back seat. Sarah sat beside him without hesitation. Robert took the front passenger seat while the driver started the engine.
As the car pulled away from the villa, Ethan slumped back in his seat.
"So… what's the company called again?" he asked.
Robert pulled out a folder and handed it back to him.
"You'll decide the final name today."
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Hmm, is this going to be difficult like will there be employes or such?"
Sarah gave a small smile. "You'll be fine."
Ethan sighed, staring out the window at the passing city.
"Man… yesterday I was playing video games," he muttered.
"…Now I'm a millionaire, and I fucking like it," he mumbled, making both Robert and Sarah exchange amused smiles.
Robert shook his head lightly. "Enjoy the feeling while it lasts. The paperwork might change your mind."
"Don't jinx it," Ethan grumbled.
The car turned into a quieter business district, lined with clean sidewalks and reflective glass buildings. Ethan straightened a little as he spotted a tall, modern tower coming into view—sleek black windows, silver edges, and a bold entryway.
The car slowed to a stop right in front of it.
Sarah looked at Ethan. "We're here."
Ethan stared up at the building for a moment, his mind trying to catch up.
"…That's mine?"
"For now," Robert said. "Until you officially sign everything."
Ethan pushed the door open and stepped out. The morning breeze hit him, carrying a mix of fresh air and city noise.
He stood there for a moment, hands in his pockets, eyes lifted to the top floor.
"…This feels unreal."
Sarah stepped beside him, her tone warm but professional. "It'll start feeling real once we walk in."
Robert walked past them toward the entrance. "Come on, CEO. Let's make it official."
Ethan blinked, took a deep breath, and followed.
The glass doors slid open automatically.
As the glass doors slid open, Ethan stepped into a clean, quiet lobby with polished floors and a modern minimalist design. The sunlight streaked through the tall windows, giving everything a soft glow.
While Sarah took in the space with calm curiosity, Robert walked beside Ethan and finally decided to explain a bit more.
"This place…" Robert began, hands loosely in his pockets, "belonged to a small but successful family-owned company."
Ethan glanced at him. "Family-owned?"
Robert nodded. "Yeah. The original owners were a couple who specialized in custom bikes—high-end ones. They also built a side market in premium household tools and small appliances. Nothing flashy. Just good quality, steady business."
"So what happened to them?" Ethan asked.
Robert's expression softened a little. "Car crash. Both of them. A few years back."
Ethan blinked. "…Oh."
"Their relatives kept the business running," Robert continued. "But none of them were really interested in expanding it. They just maintained it. Profitable, but small. Quiet."
He gestured around the lobby.
"They were planning to sell it anyway. And since you needed something simple, stable, and already functioning… I bought it under your name."
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "So it's profitable?"
Robert chuckled. "Ethan, this place makes a few million in clean profit every year. It is not huge, but it's safe, easy to manage, and won't drown you in stress."
Ethan stared at the elevator doors ahead of them.
"…So I basically wake up rich, and you hand me a money-making machine?"
"Pretty much."
"Damn. I need to buy you a gift later."
"Just design a cool car for me, I'll appreciate that," Robert said, making Ethan smile.
"Don't worry. The car I'm going to make will blow your mind," Ethan replied.
They stopped in front of a meeting-room door.
"Inside are the board members. You'll need to get introduced." Robert said, stepping aside.
"I should've worn a suit," Ethan muttered, staring down at his jeans and hoodie. Everyone inside probably wore three-piece business suits.
"It's fine. You're the company's owner and CEO. No one will bother you about your clothes," Sarah said calmly.
"Yeah, and it's New York… the first thing people judge is your clothes," Ethan grumbled and rolled his eyes.
"…That's true," Sarah admitted, giving a small nod as both she and Robert opened the door for him.
The door swung open, and every conversation inside the meeting room stopped.
A long oval table filled the space, surrounded by formally dressed board members in suits and ties. Papers, tablets, and folders were neatly arranged in front of each of them.
All eyes turned toward Ethan.
He froze for half a second.
"…Wow. Yup. Definitely should've worn a suit," he whispered under his breath.
