The rewards from this Heavenly Ranking were two items that were virtually impossible to find in the real world: an Evolution Stone capable of MEGA evolving the High Legend Mewtwo, and the Fountain of Life, which possessed unbelievable power.
According to the description, the Fountain of Life could even heal injuries sustained by Creator God-level beings!
And this was likely just the tip of the iceberg. As the ranking mentioned, many more functions were waiting to be discovered. Something awarded alongside a Mewtwo Evolution Stone could never be ordinary!
In the backyard of Professor Oak's laboratory, a massive beam of light descended upon a pond.
When the light dissipated, the pond was completely transformed! A small mountain had appeared above it, with crystal-clear spring water flowing out. The water itself was different—it was translucent and radiated a powerful aura of vitality!
Ash, Professor Oak, and the others rushed to examine it.
"The Heavenly Ranking is truly miraculous! The source of this water seems infinite. I can't even tell where it's coming from," Professor Oak noted.
Though it appeared to flow from the small mountain, the mountain was far too small to sustain such a constant stream. Yet, the water bubbled forth endlessly.
"Professor Oak! When the fountain appeared, I received some information about it!" Ash said excitedly.
He already knew exactly how he wanted to use it. "The volume of this fountain is fixed. No matter how much we use it, it will refill to the brim by the next day! We never have to worry about it running dry."
"Also, there's a sort of 'whitelist' in my mind. Only if I grant permission can others use or even touch the water!"
Hearing this, everyone tried to test it. They found that when they tried to touch the gentle flow, it felt like hitting solid rock.
There was no sensation of water at all. Only after Ash added everyone present to the "whitelist" could they finally touch the spring.
"Oh... It's so sweet! After drinking it, it feels like my entire body has been miraculously repaired! All fatigue and pain are gone!" Misty, as a Water-type Gym Leader, was the first to take a sip.
She felt as though her body had been purified; the soreness from months of traveling vanished instantly.
Professor Oak took a sip, and a miracle occurred: the gray hair at his temples began to turn black! Though it was only a small portion, he had only taken one sip. This was the Fountain of Life—its sheer vitality could partially de-age an old man in an instant.
Even Red's eyes flickered with interest. "Come out, Mewtwo."
With a flash from Red's Ultra Ball, a silver-and-purple Pokémon appeared—Red's Mewtwo. This was only the second time he had released it since arriving in this world.
"Mewtwo, help me examine the effects of this water." 'Has Ash given me permission?' "I did! I gave it to you the moment you came out, Mewtwo-sir!" Ash looked at Red's Mewtwo with admiration. Surface-level, Red's Mewtwo seemed even more powerful than the one in the ranking—likely due to Red's intense training.
Mewtwo used Confusion to lift a small amount of water. After scanning it with psychic power and tasting it, he opened his eyes with a look of pure shock.
"What is it, Mewtwo? Did you find something else?" Red asked.
'This water... has boundless vitality. It can extend the lifespan of both humans and Pokémon. I estimate it can add up to a hundred years.'
Everyone in the backyard was stunned! A hundred years! In this world, the average human lifespan is around a hundred, with the oldest reaching maybe 150. This water could effectively double a human's life. If this news got out, the world would go mad.
'It's more than just lifespan and healing,' Mewtwo continued. 'It restores one's "Source." It repairs scrambled genes. Even my own genes—which have always been unstable due to those messy experiments—became calm after just one sip.'
Mewtwo was an artificial Pokémon, and artificiality often came with defects. Red's Mewtwo had always used its raw power to suppress its genetic instability.
Only during Mega Evolution did he feel truly at ease. But now, the Fountain of Life offered him a way to find peace without Mega Evolving. If he drank this regularly, his strength would reach an even higher level.
"Wow! The Fountain of Life is amazing!" Ash exclaimed. "If we had this earlier, even if Charizard didn't have the Rainbow Wing, his defects would have been fixed!"
"Maybe," Red countered, "but the Rainbow Wing is better for Charizard. Charizard is Fire, and this fountain is Water. The Wing's enhancement of firepower is unique."
'Also...' Mewtwo added a final bombshell, 'this water can stimulate a Pokémon's latent potential. Training while using this water will result in much faster growth!'
This meant Ash, Misty, Brock, and Gary—and all the Pokémon in Oak's backyard—would see their strength skyrocket.
"Thank you, Mewtwo-sir! If you don't mind, drink as much as you like, or even stay here!" Ash suggested. Red's Mewtwo nodded, agreeing to stay and even offer guidance to the "Mewtwo of this world" when he arrived.
In those ten minutes, the world was in an uproar. Professor Oak had to pull his phone line because of the endless calls from people begging for water. He decided then and there: this water must never leave the lab, for the safety of everyone involved.
Suddenly, the next ranking began!
[Ranking: Ash and the Stories of Legendary Pokémon (II)!][Subtitle: The Guardian Gods of the Water Capital!][Mode: No bidding. Quiz mode may appear. Please be prepared.][Now—the footage begins!]
[Lance: Another one? Ash, just how many Legendaries do you know?!]
[Diantha: This is only the second one, calm down~ Which Legend is it this time?]
[Professor Oak: If I'm not mistaken... it should be Latias or Latios!]
[Bruno: Oh?! You guessed it, just from the title, Professor? Impressive!]
[Professor Oak: Bruno, Lance—do you really not associate the 'Water Capital' with anything?]
[Lance: Water Capital... Wait, do you mean the dream-like city, Alto Mare?!]
Alto Mare, known as the most beautiful city in the world, was also called the City of Water.
[Bruno: Alto-what? Never heard of it.]
[Karen: Hmph, Bruno, how are you a Kanto/Johto Elite Four member? You should go back to farming. You don't even know the most famous city in Johto!]
[Professor Oak: Correct. Legend says that long ago, evil monsters attacked Alto Mare. It was the siblings Latias and Latios who drove them away. Even now, they are the city's guardians. I suspect this is Ash's story with them.]
The footage began with the legend of the Water Capital. It told of how the Lati-siblings, injured and disguised as humans, were saved by an elderly couple.
When darkness invaded, they protected the city and left behind a precious artifact: the Soul Dew, a safeguard against future threats.
The scene then revealed two thieves in a library, reading this very legend. "Wow! Two beautiful big sisters!" Brock drooled at the two sexy thieves on screen.
Red looked at Brock with a bewildered expression. Is the Brock of this world always like this? He seemed so reliable before... was that an illusion?
"Stop being a creep and watch the ranking!" Misty snapped, pulling Brock's ear.
The thieves, a pair of sisters, set off for Alto Mare to steal the Soul Dew. On their way, they gave the audience a taste of high-tech gear: their sleek car drove off a cliff and instantly transformed into a flying craft!
PS: While the Fountain of Life overlaps a bit with the Rainbow Wing, these rewards are heavyweight items not found in the standard Pokémon world—think of them as products from another dimension.
