"Yeah, let's buy a pregnancy test kit," I said as we both turned and walked toward the small medical store we had just passed.
Inside, I quickly found a reliable pregnancy test, paid for it, and handed the sealed packet to Brittany as we stepped back out onto the street. We continued walking toward Gloria's house. It wasn't far at all, only about a five-minute walk from our building.
"Here we are," Brittany said as we finally stopped in front of the house.
It was a proper house, not an apartment building. There was a neat front lawn and a garage on the side. From the look of the place, Gloria's family was clearly well-off.
The house had a clean, comfortable appearance that stood out compared to the denser apartment complex we had just left.
We walked up the short path to the main door. Brittany reached out and rang the doorbell.
After a short moment, the door opened.
It was Gloria.
