Soon after getting off the cable car and traveling back in the buggies to the beach house, we finally arrived. The sun was low, casting long golden shadows across the sand, and the air smelled of salt and cooling earth as we stepped through the main entrance.
"That was such a nice visit," Brittany said as we walked inside, her voice bright but a little wistful. "Alex, you really missed the stuff we saw at the temple, they had like ancient carvings, old scrolls, incense burners shaped like dragons… it was beautiful."
"Yeah?" I asked in surprise, like I had missed what they saw, but I didn't care about that stuff. I was busy breeding the priestess.
"Welcome back, everyone," Shyla called from behind the reception desk, smiling warmly. "I hope you all enjoyed your visit to the temple."
There was a man standing next to her, talking on the telephone, maybe attending to a guest call. Well-dressed and composed, it was probably her husband, back at work.
