Chapter 07 Initiation and Character Build the World of Wonder.

The morning YGGDRASIL released. I was in my home office studying. Attempting to memorize the fusion technology I have had my secret divisions develop.

Images.

I spent several hours studying the research and memorizing what I could. Before I switched over to memorizing and studying what I was going to use as my player character build.

Eventually, the alarm in my implant alerted me that it was release time. So I plugged myself in, logged into the game and opened my eyes.

I would like to say it was wondrous and miraculous. However, to prepare for the game, I have been playing other less popular games and using other VR simulations and programs, so I was use to this by now. It was just a black expanse with a window open in front of me that stated. [CHARACTER BUILD BEGIN.] [YES?] [NO?]

I hit [YES?] moved on to race selection. Sift down into heteromorphs choose doppelgänger. [CONFIRM?] [YES?] [NO?] I select [YES] I move on. Check the list of starter gear. Immediately reject. After all, this game is pay to win and as Dave Chappelle says. "I'm rich bitch!"

Immediately realized I can't find what I'm looking for in the shop. Review my sidebar notes that I paid one of the programmers a lot of money for. Roll my eyes as I realize. I have to go to the gotcha system and start paying to play for draws.

(Insert) the Destiny player character in the casino playing over and over and over again, saying ah man, ah man. Dang it! ( here!)

After almost 3 hours of this, I eventually get what I wanted. A one time use item that removes the restrictions on how many items I can equip. Original Ainz spent the better part of an entire paycheck to retrieve this item. I'm not sure how much he made at the time. But I think I might have surpassed him.

I make a personal note to not gamble. Apparently, I am permanently equipped with incredibly bad luck, so I cannot rely on luck. Instead, I'm going to be relying on myself. Which would explain why the original Ainz actually faked the first of any PVP battle. To gather information and then come up with a strategy to defeat his enemy. He didn't rely on luck either. I wonder if I inherited his bad luck?

With all of that done I had back to the in-game store and began purchasing my starter gear.

The first purchase I make are 11 rings, which double the XP I earn. Unfortunately I can only use one of them at a time for myself. This is okay because I threw money at many things to get solutions and to find secrets. This game is filled with secrets you have to discover along the way. One of them is that while I can only use one of these rings for myself. There are several items I can purchase that I can attach a ring to that would double the XP going to that ring and not cost me any XP at all.

The very next purchase I make is 10 alchemy rings. These rings normally function as extra storage spaces for those who choose the Alchemist class. However, I came across a secret in my dealings. If you pump enough XP into the alchemy ring, it will eventually transform into a world item. This is because the more XP you put into the ring, the larger the space inside the ring grows, eventually when it gets to the equivalent size of one of the 9 worlds of the game. It becomes a world item. This is one of their closely guarded secrets that people in the game don't actually discover until late in the game. That many items can be eventually transformed into world items.

After that, I began purchasing other items, including clothing that can serve as armor. I decided to model the clothing and style after the main character from Sorcerer Stabber Orphan. I always liked the style of that character.

I purchased a silver dragon shaped hamulet that gives a minor buff to manna regeneration. As well as a few other items which can increase a magic user's combat capabilities, including a sword with runes that can function double duty as a magic wand.

As I'm looking at my character's build and image with the clothing and other items equipped. Something dawns on me. How am I going to equip all of the rings when I only have 4 fingers and 2 thumbs. I also only have 4 toes?

After the momentary surprise by body dysmorphia. I discovered that the XP rings fasten onto the alchemy rings like they were magnets attracted to each other. I wonder how no one else in the game ever discovered this. Maybe they just never brought the rings anywhere near each other. I can understand why people wouldn't. After all, alchemist was not a combat or an exploration class. It was a support class and one that tended towards civilization areas. So most players would not choose that class. Which means they wouldn't want a ring that takes XP from them. After all, their already existing storage slots are enough. They don't need more, so no one had the opportunity to discover it. Or the metric that would allow them to multiply their XP across any XP absorbing items they possessed. Which means a lot of world-class. Items that could be created instead of discovered in the game would never come about. Because most people were more interested in exploring and adventure, then actually buckling down and doing research and development of items or techniques like alchemy, or learning to forge.

So, they would never accumulate large quantities of resources. Which would explain why Nine's Own Goal was the first ones to discover that accumulating resources could transform them into a world-class item, like the philosopher stone.

After all, what player in their right mind would equip an item that sucks up half their XP. When they don't actually get anything useful from it.

This would also explain one of the reasons no one discovered the hidden secret of the goblin general's horns.

After a moment of thought, I decided to equip the rings to the obvious place of my toes, fingers and thumbs. Equipping, the 11th XP ring to myself with a bit of chain around my neck. Hidden underneath the dragon shaped silver amulet. I actually got a nice surprised. I thought I would have to switch my XP into each individual alchemy ring as they eventually became a world-class item. Turns out doing it this way, multiplies the XP across all of those XP rings, giving each alchemy ring a full measure of XP. As though they were taking 100% of my XP instead of just taking 50% of my XP.

As I examine my character, I can't help but notice that it looked like an extremely tall Roswell alien cosplaying as a human.

I decided to use my first shape, shifting slot and transform into a generic teenage Japanese human, an appearance. It actually looks quite a bit like my own physical body.

I go back into the store and start purchasing the various potions that are available. MP potions, health potions, stamina potions, as well as different types of potions from the alchemist class. Such as acid, fire glue or any other thing. I can find that might be usefully thrown at an enemy.

I'm wondering if that fire potion simply works like a Molotov cocktail?

With one last check over my equipment. I decided to purchase some in game currency before actually completing the process.

Log in complete initializing, Standby.

A gate composed of what looked like shadow and red energy swirling round each other appeared in front of me then engulfed me. The next thing I know it went right over me and I was standing in the middle of what looked like a plaza.

I took the time to Orient myself. It appears as though I had landed inside of a starter town.

"Okay, first things first time. To put that money I purchased to use. Now where do I find an inn?"

After locating an inn and arranging for lodging, I decide to have myself registered as an adventurer.

After that, I make my way out of the town and into the low level areas, time to slay some monsters and try to increase my level. As I leave the town and get beyond its walls, I pause for a moment. The town is located on the side of A. Mountain and before me stands a huge and beautiful Vesta that is absolutely breathtaking. I am struck by awe. It's like standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon, except the whole thing is forested.

I just stand there for several minutes taking it in. I remember one of the characters in the Guild was named Blue Planet. He spent most of his time in the game trying to replicate the world that was lost. I understand why no one in the story ever gave him grief. After living in the wasteland that is the Earth now. I find myself sympathizing with him. I also understand why the original character. I now took over. One of his driving forces was preventing the new world from becoming like the old world. When you have a comparison to go on, you know what you want to fight for and prevent happening.
