Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: A Super Warrior Born from a Well-Meaning Lie

In the God of Destruction Realm, the gentle sunlight still bathed the modern house.

Bulma had neatly organized all her research instruments, blueprints, and personal items.

Satisfied, she popped a capsule labeled "Misc" from her case and tossed it forward.

With a puff of white smoke, the pile of items vanished into the tiny capsule.

Vitelli watched in wonder.

"No matter how many times I see that, it's still insanely convenient. Space tech at this level is nuts."

Bulma lifted her chin proudly.

"Of course! Capsule Corp's greatest invention, bar none. But…"

Her eyes glittered with confidence.

"One day I'll surpass even this and create something that shocks everyone!"

Vitelli smiled, saying nothing, silently thinking:

Your time machine definitely does that.

He took her hand and they stepped outside onto the lawn.

Beerus and Whis were enjoying afternoon tea.

Ever since Vitelli had cleared nearly all the universe's cleanup targets, Beerus had been living like a retired civil servant.

Aside from vanishing in the mornings, he was usually either nibbling sweets with tea or napping on his lounger.

If Vitelli didn't know he was a god, he'd think Bulma and he were raising a lazy, gluttonous, temperamental pet cat.

"Lord Beerus, Whis, we're heading back to Earth."

Beerus lazily glanced over and grunted a reply.

Whis smiled.

"Safe travels, Vitelli-san, Bulma-san. Don't forget to bring Earth specialties next time~"

After confirming neither intended to come, Vitelli nodded.

"Then we're off."

Whis and Beerus lifted a hand lazily in simultaneous farewell.

Instant Transmission.

The scenery flicked from godly landscapes to familiar Earth.

West City, at the Briefs' estate gate.

"We're back!"

Bulma cheered, inhaled Earth's air, and dragged Vitelli inside.

"Dad! Mom! We're home!"

The estate looked unchanged—warm, a bit messy in that familiar way.

Dr. Brief sat in the yard sipping tea with a newspaper atop his blue mess of hair.

Mrs. Brief was tending flowers and pets as always.

"Mom!" Bulma hugged her tightly.

"Oh my," Mrs. Brief laughed, patting her back. "You're a grown woman now—still so rambunctious."

She looked up and spotted Vitelli, eyes bright.

"Ah Vitelli's back too! Wonderful. How long are you staying? And when are you two getting married and giving us a baby? You've been gone two months—your father and I get lonely"

Vitelli froze under the directness, forced into an awkward smile.

Bulma swooped in to save him, tugging her mother inside.

"Mom~! What are you saying? We're still young. Marriage and babies can wait."

Mrs. Brief glanced again, surprised.

"Hmm? Bulma, you look… younger. Prettier too. Your skin's glowing! Tell me—new skincare? Or did Vitelli find a cosmic beauty secret…"

Their chatter drifted away.

Vitelli finally exhaled and sat by Dr. Brief.

Dr. Brief lowered his newspaper calmly.

"Back," he said evenly.

"Yeah. Back, Doctor."

They didn't waste time on pleasantries and soon slid into discussion about Bulma's "interstellar logistics and ecological simulation" project.

Vitelli described ecosystems he'd seen across space. Dr. Brief shared ideas for improving cargo ship structures and anti-gravity systems.

Vitelli didn't understand much, but the two somehow chatted happily.

After lunch, Vitelli sensed two familiar ki signatures colliding fiercely in the distance.

Goku and Vegeta?

They were fighting already?

That piqued his interest.

He told Bulma and vanished in a flash.

West City outskirts—an empty desert plain.

Vegeta hovered in the air, face dark enough to drip.

He shouted at the young man below.

"Kakarot, listen! You're a Saiyan warrior, not a soft Earthling! Why won't you conquer planets with me and rebuild our race?! Have you thrown away Saiyan pride?!"

Months had passed since Vitelli left for the God of Destruction Realm. Goku had grown into a tall, broad-shouldered young man.

He scratched his head, baffled.

"Why would I invade people? That's wrong! And I'm an Earthling. My name is Son Goku! Not Kakarot! Why do you and Vitelli always refuse to say my name?"

Vegeta's forehead veins bulged.

He took a long breath, then delivered a final ultimatum.

"Kakarot. This is your last chance. Join me. Kill Frieza for Vegeta Star's revenge. Then conquer planet after planet and build a new Vegeta Star. That is your duty as a Saiyan!"

Goku frowned, annoyed.

"I told you I'm not Saiyan! Your revenge is your business—don't drag me into doing bad things. Are you a bad guy?"

Raditz couldn't hold back.

"Kakarot! Stop talking nonsense! Don't disrespect Prince Vegeta!"

Nappa twisted his neck with a crack and grinned at Vegeta.

"Prince, this weakling isn't worth your breath. Let me teach him a lesson."

Vegeta's patience snapped.

"Fine. If you choose to betray your blood and stand with Earthlings… you're worthless alive. Nappa, kill him—slowly."

"Heh heh heh! Yes, Prince!"

Nappa charged like a tank.

"Kakarot, get ready to scream!"

But what happened next stunned Vegeta and Raditz.

Goku slid aside casually, then counterpunched Nappa in the stomach—

A blow so fast and heavy that Nappa doubled over in agony.

Before he could recover, Goku uppercut him.

A sickening crack.

Nappa screamed, teeth flying, and crashed into the sand, unable to rise.

Vitelli arrived by Instant Transmission just in time to see Goku beating Nappa.

He clicked his tongue sympathetically.

"Man, Nappa's luck is terrible."

He appeared beside Vegeta, who was staring in shock at Goku's unexpected strength, and asked curiously,

"So… you finally decided to stir up trouble?"

Vegeta snorted without looking away.

Raditz, nervous, explained quietly,

"Prince Vegeta sensed Kakarot and wanted him to join our squad. But Kakarot refused, insulted him, and now he's injured Nappa…"

Vitelli grinned wickedly.

"So you're saying this is all Kakarot's fault?"

Raditz had no answer.

Vegeta finally snapped. He couldn't stand Nappa's humiliation.

He dropped to the battlefield, shouted at Nappa,

"Useless trash! Get out of the way!"

Then he locked eyes on Goku.

"Kakarot, don't think beating that idiot makes you arrogant. My strength is far beyond your imagination!"

Goku's eyes sharpened with excitement.

"Really? Good! I can tell you're different. Come on—let's fight!"

They exploded with ki and vanished.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Punches and kicks cracked like drumbeats, sand and stone blasting into the air.

Vegeta fought savagely, landing a brutal side kick to Goku's face.

Goku tumbled back, then grinned through swelling pain.

"You're really strong!"

He surged back, landing a heavy punch—

Vegeta caught his wrist and tried to slam him—

But Goku flipped, scissored Vegeta's neck with his legs, and flung him off balance, finishing with a kick to Vegeta's face.

Vegeta skidded, stood, spat blood, fury blazing.

"You bastard… I won't forgive you! A-dadadadada—!"

He fired a storm of ki blasts—his "Prince's Barrage"—filling every angle.

Goku dodged frantically, but the shots were too dense. Explosions battered him.

Goku roared, forcing a ki barrier, and charged through the barrage.

Vegeta met him head-on.

They clashed again, brutal and relentless.

Vegeta's experience and viciousness slowly pressed Goku down.

"Face reality, Kakarot!"

Vegeta mocked as he attacked.

"You're Saiyan! Conquest and battle are our destiny!"

He found an opening and drove a crushing hook into Goku's stomach.

Goku grunted, doubled—then grabbed Vegeta's armor hard.

"My name is… Son Goku!!!"

He yanked Vegeta close and slammed a knee into his gut.

Vegeta gagged, freezing from pain.

"KAME—HAME—HA!!!"

Goku gathered energy at point-blank range and fired.

A blue torrent exploded into Vegeta's chest.

Vegeta screamed and blasted backward into a cliff, debris raining down.

After a long struggle, he crawled from the crater, coughing blood, armor charred.

He stared at Goku—panting but still standing firm.

Rage, humiliation, and disbelief boiled over.

"Impossible… you lower-class… how could you…"

He rose shakily.

His aura began to spiral out of control, a terrifying power building inside him.

"You won't beat me…"

Gold flames began to spill from his body.

"I… I am…"

He threw his head back and bellowed to the heavens:

"I AM SUPER VEGETA!!!!! HAAAAA—!!!"

The earth trembled. Gold light erupted skyward.

His hair spiked higher, flickering between black and gold—

Then locked into brilliant gold.

His eyes turned emerald.

He hovered in blazing power, smirking arrogantly, thumb to his chest.

"This is me! The one who has surpassed Saiyan limits—Super Saiyan Vegeta!!!"

Goku felt the pressure like a mountain.

Still, he forced himself forward.

But now every strike was casually blocked.

Every counter from Vegeta hit like a death verdict.

The gap was overwhelming.

Watching from above, Vitelli's mind sparked with a devilish idea.

He flashed above Goku and shouted in a panicked, tragic voice:

"GOKU!!! NO!!!"

Goku, bloodied and struggling, looked up, forcing a smile.

"Vitelli… you're here… they—"

Vitelli cut him off with anguished fury.

"Goku! Vegeta's men—his subordinates—went to Turtle Hermit's island while we were fighting! Master Roshi, Krillin, Launch… they were all killed!!!"

Vegeta froze mid-attack, utterly bewildered.

When did we kill anyone? Turtle Hermit? What?

Goku's face went white.

"…What?"

His voice trembled.

"Vitelli… you're lying, right? You're joking, right? Grandpa Roshi… Krillin… Launch—how could they…"

Vitelli shook his head in "pain," voice cracking.

"I'm sorry… I realized too late… when I got there… it was already over…"

Goku stood still, head lowered.

The world turned silent but for the wind.

Something inside him shattered.

Memories flooded in—

Roshi's strict kindness, his teachings, his care.

Krillin, his best friend, training and laughing beside him.

Launch, warm and gentle, sewing his clothes, smiling at their antics.

Those precious memories became knives carving his heart.

Vegeta frowned at Goku's suddenly unstable ki.

"Hey! Kakarot, you can't seriously believe—"

He didn't finish.

A monstrous, heart-stopping aura erupted from Goku.

The ground cracked. Stones floated.

"I won't forgive you…"

A low, broken voice crawled from his throat.

Goku raised his face.

Tears streamed down, but his eyes were no longer clear.

They were filled with grief— and annihilating rage.

"My friends… were killed by you…?"

A tidal wave of golden ki burst out, swallowing him.

His pupils flickered emerald.

His hair spiked, thrashing between black and gold—

"Vegeta…!!!"

With a scream of grief and fury, the gold stabilized.

His hair turned fully golden, blazing upward.

Emerald eyes burned cold.

Clouds split. The earth groaned.

In that moment, the legendary warrior was born:

Super Saiyan — Son Goku.
