Mia went back to her room just to double check and be sure she's really doing this,she's really doing something different. She ended up changing her shoes twice before she finally picked up her phone.
She stood near the window of her room, staring out at the estate grounds, pretending she was checking the weather when really she was just buying herself time. Eventually, she exhaled and dialed Kim's number.
Kim answered almost immediately.
"Okay," Kim said instead of hello. "You're calling me before you leave. That means you're nervous."
Mia smiled despite herself. "I'm not nervous. I'm being responsible."
"Mm. That's what nervous people say."
"I just wanted you to know where I'm going," Mia said. "In case something happens."
"See," Kim replied. "Nervous."
Mia laughed softly. "I'm meeting Grayson. The guy I told you about. We're just getting something to drink. Nothing serious."
Kim went quiet for half a second, then inhaled dramatically. "You're meeting him meeting him."
