Chapter 134 - Chapter -134- Professional Crossroads

The week after the boutique's opening brought its own chaos;quiet, invisible, but heavy. Kian sat at his drafting table long after sunset, the blue glow of his screen highlighting the frown settling across his face. The sustainable housing project he had poured months into was suddenly hanging by a thread. The client's new request wasn't just unreasonable;it violated every principle Kian valued as an architect.

"Reduce the green spaces… replace recycled materials… and add unnecessary luxury features," Kian read again, frustration boiling. "This ruins the entire purpose." 🏚

He knew he should stand firm, but the project was huge. Walking away would mean losing their biggest opportunity yet.

Across the apartment, Ariana typed away on her laptop, unaware of the battle storming inside him;until she noticed the silence. The heavy kind.

"Kian?" she called gently. "You didn't even touch dinner." 🙄

He didn't respond immediately. When he finally turned, she saw it—the weight behind his eyes. The same look he had when he carried too much alone.

"My client wants changes that would completely destroy the project's sustainability," he admitted. "If I refuse, we lose everything. If I agree… I lose myself."

Ariana closed her laptop and moved closer. "And what about you?" she asked softly. "Where do you stand in all this?"

He hesitated. "I don't want to disappoint anyone." 😑

A small smile curved her lips as she held his hand. "Kian, listen to me. We didn't fight our way into adulthood just to become people who bend every time someone pushes. If keeping the project means sacrificing your values;then it isn't success. It's surrender."

Her words settled into him like warm light, dissolving the uncertainty he'd been drowning in. He exhaled, tension easing from his shoulders. 😌

"And what about you?" he asked. "Your promotion?"

Ariana laughed softly. "Longer hours, bigger responsibility… but also a voice. A real one. I'm scared, but I want to take it." 😉

They sat together in the dimly lit room;two people at the edge of important decisions, two futures branching before them. But their hands were intertwined, steady, certain.

They weren't choosing careers.

They were choosing themselves;together.🤝
