Chapter 2 - Anna Perrone

Anna Perrone lived in a chic apartment on the outskirts of the city. Despite her reserved demeanor, she was a striking woman who commanded attention with her modest presence. She never wore makeup, letting her long, raven hair fall naturally, and her delicate smile revealed a set of flawless teeth.

Her first kiss had taken place on a park bench, marking the beginning of her first experience with love, adventure, and the inevitable sting of heartbreak.

She constantly drew men—both young and old—toward her with a dark, penetrating gaze that seemed to reach deep into their minds, as if she were trying to decipher the essence of each one. She did this with extraordinary fervor, moving from the raw curiosity of a first encounter to a state of refined satisfaction.

Anna vividly examined the faces, bodies, behaviors, and personalities of her many lovers. She loved them and abandoned them all, for she possessed only one true love, one singular lover, and one ultimate desire: herself.

She sat before the mirror in a long, black dress with a plunging neckline, adorned with a purple pendant and matching black stilettos. This evening was supposed to be a pleasant one.

But at her favorite club, two strangers had shown the staff a photograph of a woman who looked exactly like her. Her peace had already been shattered. Her past was catching up to her once again. Her nightmares were becoming reality.

She undressed and slipped into the warm water of the whirlpool tub. As she lay there, she reflected on the trajectory of her life.

She had chased love like a wild creature—capturing it, taming it, examining it, and studying it in meticulous detail. Perhaps she had always been enthralled by the things she didn't fully understand.

Despite her numerous affairs, Anna had always felt detached from her partners. She struggled to truly connect or commit to a stable relationship. Instead, she continued to investigate the realm of love with a burning, almost clinical passion.

Anna Perrone was a woman of mystery and intrigue, a fascinating soul who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She possessed a profound understanding of human nature and a relentless drive to explore the unknown. She was an enigma, yet everyone who knew her believed they had discovered a side of her that no one else had ever seen.

Her relationships with men were always fleeting.

She had always been a master of mental games. Anna had a gift for reading people and predicting their behavior. Her ability to perceive and understand subtle cues proved to be a valuable tool in anticipating the actions of others.

She already knew her secret—a secret she guarded carefully and adored. Anna Perrone had a profound insight into human nature, reading thoughts and feelings with remarkable precision. This talent allowed her to influence others for her own benefit, though it also led to some uncomfortable circumstances.

Despite her capabilities, Anna remained modest and never used her skills for unfair advantage.

But this city, this location—everything had become too great a risk.

Anna chose to leave.

She climbed into bed and fell into a deep sleep.

In her dream, every morning she wakes up in a different, strange, and unknown place.

She finds herself in a small room cluttered with various tools and supplies. It takes her a while to gather her thoughts. She doesn't remember who she is, what her name is; she has no memory at all.

And so, she begins each day as she always does: searching for her name, hoping it might be written somewhere.

After a few minutes, she always finds it in some documents. It is written in many languages, many of which are completely foreign to her. Once she finds her name, she spends a few more minutes reading the rest of the notes, hoping for a small clue as to what is happening.

But there is never anything useful. The notes are either too vague to be of any help or are simply unbelievable nonsense.

For example, she reads one note written in red: You are the only person left alive. It was written in blood.

It isn't true, of course, she tells herself, trying to find courage. Yet, every time, she discovers that this is the absolute truth.

This time, the note is attached to the bottom of a small box on a shelf. It is a bit dirty and faded, but she can make out the letters. It isn't much, but it's a start.

She must move slowly. She is very weak, and her hands are shaking violently. But it doesn't matter; she rests. She spends the next few days sleeping.

Finally, she leaves the house.

There is nothing left.

No people, no animals, no plants. Only desolate, empty wasteland. She searched for signs of life, but there were none.

The world is a dead place, and she is the last human alive. She walked for days, weeks, months, years. She found no one else.

In the end, she gave up.

She woke up terrified, gasping for air. How much longer could she endure these nightmares? She had to find a cure.
