[Spirit: 13.1]

[TRAITS]

[Enhanced Memory: Perfect recall of intensely studied material. 35% recall from single viewing.]

[Adaptive Mutation: Cells analyse and optimise foreign genetic material beyond original design parameters. Neural pathway formation for new skills now accelerating.]

[Regenerative Overdrive: Accelerated regeneration extending to lost tissue and, given time, full limbs.]

[Explosive Musculature: Output roughly doubled beyond raw Physique gains. No visible change in mass.]

[Metabolic Resilience: Immune to biological toxins and most disease. Stable across temperature extremes. Reduced food, water, and sleep dependency.]

Peter read through it twice. The second pass, he stopped on two numbers he had not expected to move.

'Mind and Spirit went up too,' Peter thought. 'Not much. But they went up.'

He had not asked for that. The serum was supposed to be a body change, muscle and skin and blood, nothing that touched the parts of him that thought or endured. The panel never explained why. It showed him the number and left the reasoning to him.

FSIS knew every name on that trait list, because Peter had given it those names himself so they could talk about results in the field.

FSIS could measure exactly what Dermal Reinforcement stopped and exactly how fast Regenerative Overdrive closed a wound. What FSIS did not know, and had never been shown, was that any of it came from a panel at all. As far as FSIS understood it, tonight was serum chemistry and months of genetic groundwork, fully explainable, thoroughly documented.

'It thinks this is all biology,' Peter thought. 'Genetics, training, time. All of that is true. None of it is the whole truth, and it stays that way.'

He sat with a bigger question next, one the panel did not answer either.

'A rifle round bounced off my shoulder tonight. I can lift a car without thinking about it. A cut that used to cost me a day closes before I finish a sentence.'

He turned his hand over once, looking at it like it belonged to someone else. 'Four armed men in a convenience store took four seconds before any of this. What does that number look like now? What happens the day it is not four scared men with a gun, but Norman, or whatever Norman is turning into?'

He did not force an answer. Some questions were not built to be solved standing in a medical bay in the middle of the night. He filed it next to the others he was still carrying.

What he could not file away was the plainer problem sitting in front of him.

"FSIS," Peter said. "Set up the restraint drill. Standard non-lethal apprehension, single target."

"Specify difficulty."

"Baseline civilian. Someone I am trying not to hurt."
