Fiona POV
Leo returned quickly, his cheeks still pink a little, but his eyes were still bright.
"Okay," he said, bouncing on the his feet, "what else should we do now?"
I glanced at my phone to check the time, it was 9:05. My stomach sank a little.
"We have school tomorrow," I said gently. "So we need to start heading home."
Leo's face fell. "Already?"
Nathan crouched slightly, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You've been running around a lot tonight. I think it's time you rest. I can carry you."
Leo's eyes lit up. "Really?"
Nathan nodded, bending down just enough to let Leo climb onto his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around him to steady him, and Leo laughed, his arms tight around his dad's neck.
I smiled at the sight, warm inside despite the tiredness.
"Speaking of which," Nathan said, glancing at me, "we haven't seen Ella or Caleb yet."
I frowned. "Ella hasn't replied to the text I sent. She's probably still at the fair."
