I read the notification display floating in front of me.
"So… I really contributed a lot to our quest," I said, feeling proud of myself.
"Let's go help them," Freya urged, eyes fixed on the battlefield.
Hearing her words, I gathered my courage and charged straight toward our companions. We started running together.
Beside me, Freya kept swinging her sword as she kept advancing forward.
"Is she aura farming?" I whispered under my breath.
We arrived at the scene.
Although the other guy's arrival was a huge help, a few smaller goblins still remained.
The two big ones were the only major threats left.
For a brief moment, I glanced across the battlefield.
Efren, Dahlia, and Claude were locked in their own fight, battling fiercely against a Goblin Ravager.
"Leaf Barrage!"
At the tip of Efren's staff, countless glowing leaves suddenly appeared. One by one, they spun toward each other and fused, forming a single, sharp, whirling sphere of green leaves.
With a flick of his staff, Efren pointed it toward the smaller goblins. The leaf sphere shot forward, spinning violently as it tore through them.
It bounced from one goblin to another, slicing through each with clean precision.
The smaller enemies were struck down, their bodies dissolving into faint light.
With the path cleared, Freya prepared her stance, facing the Goblin Ravager—the one that Claude was fighting. She gripped her sword tightly, ready to strike.
"Prismatic Mirage!"
Freya activated a skill and instantly sped toward Claude's side, leaving afterimages of herself along the path, each one flickering like a living shadow that danced across the battlefield.
I reached out and touched one.
The afterimages simply passed through my hand.
"This might be a good illusion or a distraction," I complimented her skill.
Then a thought struck me.
I had to help Dahlia. Sprinting toward her, heart pounding, I saw her struggling against the Goblin Ravager. I reached her side just in time.
"Water Jets!"
Dahlia's trident glowed in her hands as six water orbs formed beside her. She launched six rapid jets of water toward the Goblin Ravager, but they were interrupted by a heavy blow striking the ground.
Thankfully, she dodged just in time.
"GRAARRGHHH!"
The Goblin Ravager let out a deafening roar.
‹ Goblin Ravager ›
HP: 70/200
I glanced at its HP.
"Scorching Surge!"
Blazing flames roared to life along the tip of my spear as I spun it with deadly precision, fire trailing along the shaft in a blazing arc from left to right. From the tip, small phoenix wings unfurled on both sides, flickering like molten embers.
Then I charged at the massive goblin, aiming straight for its stomach.
It stomped the ground hard, and the impact shook my body. I lost focus for a moment as the Goblin Ravager raised its club, glowing red, and slammed it down. I realized it was about to use its special trait, and I had to move fast to avoid it..
"Damn!" I leapt backward, narrowly avoiding the impact.
A tremendous shockwave exploded outward, sending dirt and dust into the air.
I spotted Dahlia at my side, ready.
"We should finish this fast," Dahlia exclaimed, her trident faintly glowing.
I nodded firmly. Together, we rushed forward once more. Dahlia advanced on the left while I moved to the right.
The Goblin Ravager reacted quickly, swinging its massive club at us.
Seizing the opportunity, Dahlia and I switched lanes in a flash. Dahlia targeted its right leg, and I targeted the left.
I swung my spear with all my strength, just as I had done against the others, piercing deep before sliding toward the back of its leg. Dahlia mirrored the move with her trident.
Our weapons moved in perfect rhythm, sinking deep into the Goblin Ravager's legs. I didn't stop there. I slid my spear along its leg, pushing through the resistance of flesh. The more we sank in, the more the Goblin Ravager wobbled, clearly in agony.
Dahlia drove her trident even deeper into the right leg. Together, we shouted, pouring every ounce of strength into the attack. With a final surge, we sliced through both legs and moved toward the back.
Finally, Dahlia and I met behind its massive body, our weapons ready for the finishing blow. The Goblin Ravager staggered, blood and dust mixing in the air, its roar turning into a strained growl.
[You have slain a Goblin Ravager!]
Finally, the battle had ended.
However, I looked in Claude's direction.
The Goblin Ravager they were fighting was kneeling on the ground, frozen by Claude's passive skill. Claude and Freya were just standing.
I walked to their side, determined to understand why they hadn't finished it yet.
I arrived and saw Claude groaning, clutching his left leg. He had been injured.
Then suddenly, the opponent's freeze wore off.
"Phoenix Flare!"
I stepped forward and reacted quickly, unleashing my skill. My spear blazed with flames, surging toward the weakened Goblin Ravager.
But what happened next caught me completely off guard.
Efren suddenly appeared in front of it.
"Leafstream!"
Efren called out his skill, and a torrent of green energy shot forward, leaves forming a continuous, razor-sharp line, crashing violently against my power.
I kept my focus on what was happening.
Efren unleashed his skill against my Phoenix Flare. A torrent of green, leafy energy erupted from his staff, colliding with my flames. The two forces clashed violently, locked in a fierce struggle for dominance.
"What is the meaning of this?" I demanded, asking for an explanation.
He didn't answer—he only gave me a smirk.
Our skills battled fiercely, sparks and embers clashing against a torrent of green light.
On the corner of the battlefield, Freya broke into a sprint. Her feet pounded the ground as she charged forward, determination blazing in her eyes. She used the same skill earlier that boosted her speed.
With a powerful leap, she soared through the air and brought her sword down.
With a swift slash, her strike landed cleanly and decapitated the head of the Goblin Ravager kneeling on the ground.
It let out a final scream before its head collapsed into the ground, its enormous body fading into light.
But even as the monster fell, I was still locked in a fierce clash with Efren.
But over time, the leaf magic pressed relentlessly against my fire magic, Efren's attack engulfing mine and pushing me backward.
Within seconds, it was over—I was hit.
"Ahghhh!" I groaned, hitting the ground. "How did I lose? Fire magic should have been stronger than leaf magic!"
Then Dahlia appeared at my side, stepping onto the scene. Her expression was serious, her eyebrows almost meeting in concentration.
"What is going on?" Dahlia asked, her voice serious.
A few tense seconds passed.
Swish!
Claude's whip cracked through the air, aiming straight at Efren with immense speed.
But before it could reach him, Freya darted in front of Efren. With precise timing, she swung her sword, knocking the whip aside and forcing it harmlessly into the ground.
Claude snarled and lashed out again, his whip whistling as it cut through the air toward her.
Freya didn't flinch. Her eyes narrowed, calm and steady, her body ready to move.
"Prismatic Mirage: Plumage Sever!"
She split into afterimages again. In the blink of an eye, Freya dashed forward, leaving shadowy trails behind her.
My eyes widened. "She can do combo skills?!"
Her feet barely seemed to touch the ground as she twisted her body gracefully, slipping through the lash of the whip that continued to strike toward her.
She was so fast that afterimages flickered across the battlefield. The tip of the whip whistled past, missing her by inches.
Without missing a beat, Freya surged toward Claude's side. Her sword gleamed sharp green, moving so fast that it was almost a blur. With a swift motion, she unleashed her slash, aiming directly at Claude, ready to strike.
But Dahlia was ready. She lifted her trident and threw it just in time, sending a cutting attack toward Freya.
The strike alerted Freya, who saw it coming and swung her sword to intercept, cutting through the trident. She leapt and adjusted her body in midair, landing on her feet with her knees bending to absorb the impact.
She paused to prepare her stance for a moment ready to continue the fight.
