Fiora washed the dishes from their meal, using as little water as possible. She would not waste it, knowing how far this water had been brought from.
Behind her, Valeo stepped out of the inner cave. His complicated gaze settled on Fiora's back.
Even Fiora, a human, could feel the heat of Valeo's stare burning into her skin.
With an expression that clearly said she had done nothing wrong, Fiora turned around. "What is it, Leader?"
Meeting those blue eyes staring at her so intently, or so she thought, Valeo suddenly grew awkward. His face remained stern, yet his hand lifted to scratch the back of his neck.
Finished with the dishes, Fiora broke their eye contact. She arranged the plates on the wooden plank along the cave wall, beside the other eating and cooking tools.
She glanced briefly at Valeo. When her husband still did not speak, she turned to inspect the beans that were in the process of sprouting.
The soaked beans had begun to germinate. Fiora smiled in satisfaction.
